Attack Of The Pale-Skinned Poets

The protesting students are, they say, “alienated” and “actively harmed” by the fact that a course of study titled Major English Poets actually features major English poets. So acute is the students’ distress at this shocking discovery that some feel obliged to “get up and leave the room.” Because, having chosen to take a degree in English literature – a language originated on a smallish island in the northern hemisphere and developed by the pallid Englishmen who lived there – it is of course outrageous that the key figures in the history of that language should quite often turn out to be pallid Englishmen.

One of these.

The terrorist attack is about radical Islam not Trump or Christians

A terrorist attack carried out by a radical Islamist took place on the weekend and then another Islamist group executed a Canadian, but hey, let’s talk about gun control, or Donald Trump or anything but radical Islam.
Brian bursts the many bubbles around the Orlando attack plus tackles why this isn’t about gun control with Faith Goldy, chats with intelligence analyst Phil Gurski and even takes a pause to discuss the F-35 with fighter pilot Billie Flynn.

We Don’t Need No …

Not A Lot Of People Know That…

Germany, the ‘high priest of this movement, had installed the equivalent of a million barrels of oil a day of renewable capacity, between solar and onshore wind.
“Solar is working at 50,000 a barrels a day and 10 per cent utilisation, wind is at 70,000 barrels a day – 17 per cent utilisation – so that million barrel a day field is working at a 130,000 barrels a day. You cannot replace baseload with intermittent and promise the people it’s going to work.”
“The Germans were promised this would all be worthwhile because it would reduce carbon dramatically. Yet their carbon emissions per capita are 40 per cent above the UK, France and Italy.”

“Everyone says don’t go public or you’ll get blacklisted.”

Postcard from Trudeaupia;

How long can a person be without pay before someone with clout can make a difference?
Everyone says don’t go public or you’ll get blacklisted.
But I can’t live on air.
Local managers have been great about trying to help, but the problem seems to not be a priority higher up and people are having trouble getting heard in a way that gets anything done.
I started in the beginning April and I got one part payment for my first pay period and nothing else since.
I don’t get how the government can continue not paying some people at all. I’m just afraid it’s going to take many more months after my contract is done. Or worse.
I just have had no regular pay at all since the first week of April. And I’m only one small case. There are many more!
When you call the pay centre, you get a busy signal and then they hang up. It just goes in circles.

PS union demands new glitchy pay system be shut down.

This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

From retail rescue to retail rabies…

It’s estimated, in fact, that tens of thousands of winsome canine refugees enter the country every year — while many others are shipped vast distances inside Canada.
But the growing, humanitarian-motivated trend is inadvertently creating a major public-health headache, fuelling a rebound in the deadly rabies problem and importing other nasty diseases, public health officials warn.
A federal-government journal has just documented three recent cases of stray puppies being taken from Nunavut or northern Quebec — where the deadly disease is endemic among Arctic foxes — to new homes in southern Canada, only for the owners to discover they had acquired rabid animals.

Renegade Regulator

Shakedown: So, CSA was doing their usual shakedown, promising to harm the man if he didn’t pay whatever CSA wanted, and it’s protection money that they wanted. The CSA disregarded Queen’s Printer laws, the Statutory Instruments Act, and Federal contract law, all in one magical meeting. We got the same treatment, but it was by phone. Face to face threat-making is so much friendlier.
