The Libranos: If It $aves One Life

Michelle Rempel Garner;

In fiscal year 2022, long after the rest of the world had ended quarantine hotel restrictions and after the government had lifted travel restrictions, at one Calgary area hotel, the federal Liberal government spent $6,790,717.46 on lodging expenses for….

…..wait for it….

15 people.

That works out to $452,714.50 spent per person on a quarantine hotel after they ended most travel restrictions.

It’s not unreasonable to assume some of this bounced into Liberal campaign coffers.

Big Brother’s at it again….

Tasking a military unit with essentially spying on your nation’s citizens is not something to be scoffed at. And this from an allegedly conservative government. One can only wonder what other governments around the world were getting up to at that time.

A shadowy Army unit secretly spied on British citizens who criticised the Government’s Covid lockdown policies, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. They compiled dossiers on public figures such as ex-Minister David Davis, who questioned the modelling behind alarming death toll predictions, as well as journalists such as Peter Hitchens and Toby Young. Their dissenting views were then reported back to No 10.

The information was then used to orchestrate Government responses to criticisms of policies such as the stay-at-home order, when police were given power to issue fines and break up gatherings. It also allowed Ministers to push social media platforms to remove posts and promote Government-approved lines.

Julia Hartley-Brewer was another prominent target.

Novak Djokovic wins his 10th Australian Open

Djokovic’s record 10th title at Melbourne Park helps reclaim his spot as world No.1, knocking off young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

The Serbian fell two Grand Slam titles behind Nadal last year, as the Spaniard won the Australian Open and French Open titles, while Djokovic was deported from Australia and lacking match fitness at Roland Garros.

Djokovic has now clawed himself back level by winning at Wimbledon and now in Australia, even though he was also barred from US Open 2022 because of his vaccination status.

Bill Gates hardest hit.

Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

Matt Strauss, MD;

1/ I am glad @bruce_arthur took the time to speak with me about my views and my record.

Unfortunately, his article is full of mistruths and misquotes, starting with the headline.

2/ I did *not* say I won’t “miss public health.”

Based on all the kind farewell notes I have received from professionals in the field this week, I daresay I might be missed back.

3/ I did *not* compare prom to “a living death.” I did *not* “compare mask mandates to the MeToo movement.”

4/ I did *not* say that “only randomized control trials are sufficient evidence for pandemic policy.”

5/ I did *not* say that “vaccine delivery was the only intervention in the pandemic that [I believe] was justified.”

6/ I understand that Bruce and the Toronto Star are in an awkward position. They were wrong about vaccine mandates, wrong about mask mandates, wrong about border restrictions, wrong about school closures.

7/ Haldimand-Norfolk had 30% less Covid mortality over the pandemic than the provincial average. Their success throws the Toronto Star’s mistakes into sharp relief.

8/ I wish @TorontoStar would acknowledge its mistakes, rather than double down by misrepresenting the facts of the matter and my views. I have texted Bruce to try and figure out how my comments were misinterpreted this way but so far no response.

Let That Sink In

At Twitter, Covid-related bias bent heavily toward establishment dogmas. Inevitably, dissident yet legitimate content was labeled as misinformation, and the accounts of doctors and others were suspended both for tweeting opinions and demonstrably true information.

When the Biden administration took over, its agenda for the American people can be summed up as: Be very afraid of Covid and do exactly what we say to stay safe.

In July 2021, then-U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy released a 22-page advisory concerning what the World Health Organization referred to as an “infodemic,” and called on social media platforms to do more to shut down “misformation.”

“We are asking them to step up,” Murthy said. “We can’t wait longer for them to take aggressive action.”

That’s the message the White House had already taken directly to Twitter executives in private channels. One of the Biden administration’s first meeting requests was about Covid, with a focus on “anti-vaxxer accounts,” according to a meeting summary by Lauren Culbertson, Twitter’s Head of U.S. Public Policy.

They were especially concerned about Alex Berenson, a journalist skeptical of lockdowns and mRNA vaccines, who had hundreds of thousands of followers on the platform […]

By the summer of 2021, the day after Murthy’s memo, Biden announced publicly that social media companies were “killing people” by allowing misinformation about vaccines. Just hours later, Twitter locked Berenson out of his account, and then permanently suspended him the next month. Berenson sued Twitter. He ultimately settled with the company, and is now back on the platform. As part of the lawsuit, Twitter was compelled to provide certain internal communications. They revealed that the White House had directly met with Twitter employees and pressured them to take action on Berenson.

The summary of meetings by Culbertson, emailed to colleagues in December 2022, adds new evidence of the White House’s pressure campaign, and illustrates how it tried to directly influence what content was allowed on Twitter.

Culbertson wrote that the Biden team was “very angry” that Twitter had not been more aggressive in deplatforming multiple accounts. They wanted Twitter to do more.

Twitter executives did not fully capitulate to the Biden team’s wishes. An extensive review of internal communications at the company revealed that employees often debated moderation cases in great detail, and with more care for free speech than was shown by the government.

But Twitter did suppress views—and not just those of journalists like Berenson. Many medical and public health professionals who expressed perspectives or even cited findings from accredited academic journals that conflicted with official positions were also targeted. As a result, legitimate findings and questions about our Covid policies and their consequences went missing.

There were three serious problems with Twitter’s process.

THE TWITTER FILES: HOW TWITTER RIGGED THE COVID DEBATE

“How different it feels this time around”

Dann Hannon;

Broadcasters are lustily cheering anti-lockdown protesters in China. Members of Congress offer unqualified support. President Joe Biden, although more guarded, is sympathetic.

No Western politician, as far as I can see, is insulting the protesters. They are not dismissed as selfish or sociopathic, nor as dupes of conspiracy theories. Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) captured the mood: “To the people of China — we hear you and we stand with you as you fight for your freedom.”

Broadcasters and columnists who spent 2020 calling anti-lockdowners kooks and criminals are now uncomplicatedly applauding their Chinese counterparts. They see ordinary people standing up against an authoritarian government the anti-COVID policies of which were crushing liberty. . . .

Well, unless they were setting gas stations ablaze or looting Targets. Those were applauded.

Lying to the Stasi

The fact that around 40% of the population routinely lied to the Covid Cops or ignored public health orders should not be seen as “alarming”. It should rather be viewed as a hopeful sign that a decent portion of the population still has some concern for individual rights and will do what they can to thwart governments that are bent on destroying civil liberties.

An alarming nationwide survey led by University of Utah health scientists has revealed that four of 10 Americans admit they weren’t truthful about contracting COVID-19 or complying with the public health precautions during the height of the global pandemic.
