Ottawa Arson Case Arrest

I expect we’ll learn more on this individual in the hours to come;

On Monday, police said they had charged Connor Russell McDonald, a 21-year-old man from Ottawa, with possessing incendiary material and two counts of arson — one causing property damage and one for disregard of human life. He is also charged with two counts of mischief, one specifically for endangering life.

Apartment dwellers said that the fire broke out shortly after an argument between residents and demonstrators and one witness who spoke to the men said they identified themselves as being part of the protest. Ottawa’s mayor was also among those linking the incident to the convoy.

But police said in a statement accompanying the arrest Monday that “there is no information indicating McDonald was involved in any way with the convoy protest which was going on when this arson took place.”

A police spokesperson told Global News they could not speculate on the second suspect’s association while the man is at large.

Update: I think we have a suspect.

A disturbing video thread.

Hundreds of civilians have been punished for diverse reasons in Ukraine by paramilitary groups and National guard. Strong footage. Tortures, abuses, humiliation, even of kids and girls.

There is no a clear motive for this illegal abuses. They are labelled as marauders. That can include men who don’t want to fight, who are suspected of russian sympathy, looters or people searching for food.

We don’t know the actual reasons or for how long they are punished. It is clearly against any human rights conventions. There is no excuse for this.

Barry MacKillop, deputy director of intelligence at the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (FINTRAC), added that if a minority of the roughly 100,000 donors who contributed about $10 million to the cause through crowdfunding were right-wing extremists wanting to topple the Trudeau government, they chose the wrong way to do it.
