Honest Money-Imagine That

The accusations were baseless.

Blacklocks- Calls Convoy Cash Harmless. Millions in donations to the Freedom Convoy appeared to be an honest outpouring of public support, a federal regulator said yesterday. “It wasn’t cash that funded terrorism,” the Commons finance committee was told: “These were people who supported the cause.”

Holly Doan– “It wasn’t cash that funded terrorism. There were people around the world who were fed up with Covid and were upset and saw the demonstrations,” said @FINTRAC_Canada deputy director Barry MacKillop. “I believe they just wanted to support the cause.”

Also…

Banks that froze millions held in accounts belonging to suspected Freedom Convoy sympathizers have not yet released all funds, cabinet’s representative in the Senate said yesterday. The Emergencies Act order that allowed blacklisting was suspended Wednesday: “Customers have no access to due process.”

Here’s an interview with Chad Eros, Saskatchewan accounting teacher who helped setup and organize the non profit status for the Truckers and deal with GoFundme. He also talks about his experience on the ground in Ottawa right before the emergency act kicked in.  h/t to David Robinson for this one. Then there’s the financial fallout.

Armstrong Economics- The sheer amount of money withdrawals from Canadian banks was massive.

  1. I was just uptown. We had an appointment with an RBC investment advisor.
    The bank was closed.
A guy at the ATM said almost all RBC’s in the area are closed.

I just want Justin to keep pumping them cash and the brainless retarded masses to keep their money in there until all ours is out.

    1. Keep taking cash out, all you got. Do everything you can in cash.

They haven’t got the message yet, make them feel it.

If you were blocked, be sure to get in on a class action. It will take time, yes, but you can’t just sit back and say oh well…..

      1. We are.
        Thanks.

They must be feeling it. All the banks in the area closed? Really.
        Because of Covid?

  2. Of course it wasn’t about anything nefarious, it never was. How does a country of 37,000,000 pick the very worst human in it to be prime minister?

    1. Because they were dumb enough to swallow the utter horse shit peddled by the next worst humans in the country, i.e. the MSM’s diseased whores.

      1. 2015…we were in Genoa, Italy – met a woman at the bus station, (English/naturalized Canadian, lived in Britain)……”Oh, isn’t it just WONDERFUL about Justin being elected?”

We told her what we thought of Justin, and Pierre too…….she did one of those “Oh, I think I hear my mother calling” takes, and scooted off.

And here we hadn’t finished telling her what we thought……

    2. But how can someone so young and handsome be a sh*t person? He seems to care so much and he’s so well spoken! *heart* *heart*

We had the same problem with that useless lying sack of sh*t Obama. The traitorous left must have a factory somewhere turning these guys out.

      1. Aaron Clarey refers to it as “President Boyfriend”. Sexy and gives you free money and doesn’t ask for anything in return except your vote every four years.

        Repeal the 19th.

        Jodi Gondek.

Oh, and folks need to remember that the Libs in 2014..were well over 11 Million in the shitter…one has to pause and ask just how it is they could afford two “Trudeau” Jets replete w/$300 btls of wine etc…and a Fleet of Buses wherever he went..?

I’m guessing that same pile of FILTH, George Soros.

    1. Best Beatles cover.
Pinhead said he invoked the Act to restore Canadians confidence in our institutions.
Before the Act confidence was lost in,
      Government
      Education and teachers
      Corporate and public medical establishment
      Media
      After the Act,
      Law enforcement
      Financial
      What’s left?

  3. Oh yeah, that FINTRAC guy? He is waking up this morning surprised to be in bed with Jody WR and Jane Philpott, and wondering who wrote “Greyhound” on the ceiling.

  4. The Armstrong piece is indeed a threat that Trudeau was not prepared for. There’s also something else. From the tone of the discussions, it would not have been an easy ride through the Senate. So rather than face embarrassment with refusal of ratification, Justin did what he does best: he ran away.

Remember, he’s a deeply stupid spoiled brat unable to think five minutes ahead. He made a decision to invoke Emergency Measures based on personal pique, got his ass kicked by the banks and Senate reluctance, and he ran away. What in this is not typical of this piece of pond scum?

Old kid’s rhyme. Hadn’t thought of it for many decades until I read your comment. I have no idea about it’s origin:
      Georgie Porgie, puddin’ and pie,
Kissed the girls and made them cry.

But when the boys came out to play,
      Georgie Porgie ran away.

      1. It was about George IV, when he was regent. He liked to eat onions and other foul tasting foods and then slobber kiss the women of the Regency court. And yes, he was a coward and liked to “play-act” soldiers, but sadly could not do the real thing.

        1. Many thanks to you and BJG. And quite right about George IV, though that was nothing unusual. As a general rule, prior to the late 19th century, all people stank all the time of just about every bodily fluid imaginable. Urban life was unbelievably filthy by any modern standards. Daily washing did not become a habit until at least about 1880 or so with modern plumbing. There’s a superb portrait of “Prinny” in the British television series Sharpe’s Rifles which you can find on Youtube.

He was a spectacularly incompetent monarch even by the standards of the day as both Prince -Regent and as George IV. He was in poor heath, an alcoholic and drug addict long before he became king and spent much of his adult life eating himself to death. The Georgian monarchs were mostly undistinguished but Prinny was worse than all of them.

          1. Not quite. The whole “not bathing” thing was Renaissance. The Greeks & Romans were quite tidy (“Roman baths” and all). Personal hygiene fell out of fashion in the 1400s or thereabouts.

          2. KM
I saw somewhere that Christianity worried about cleanliness of the soul, not so much about in other places

    2. I don’t believe it was all Trudolts idea. I suspect Freeland, Butts, and Telford led him around by his nose ring. Maybe supersmart banker guy Mark Carney too. They should take the blame along with their puppet front man.

I wonder if Carney ever gave any thought to the possibility that this would delegitimize Canadian banks? Well, what does he know about them anyways?

      1. I doubt that any of it was his idea….”Memorize your lines, , get out behind the mike, try and appear sincere ,and repeat them…don’t F it up”.

        1. I agree but at least he’s been practicing. Has anyone else noticed that every third word being “uuuhhh” has now been replaced by a pause. Now, him waiting for his brain to catch up sounds much more sincere and heartfelt…. pffft

      2. Carney … the clown who claimed “sedition” and “insurrection”. One dangerous dude. He is eying up Trudeau’s job, God help us.

  5. Maybe the same people who designed the bank software are the same people who designed the software for the US Affordable Healthcare Rollout?
I don’t know if these issues are widespread. However, if they are and you had customers in Canada, whether individuals or commercial enterprises, would you ask for advance payment or guaranteed payment rather than deal with delays or glitches?

    1. Are the WEF acolytes supposed to be the best and brightest? How come they didn’t anticipate the possibility of bank runs and damage to Canadian banking and business? I’m just an ordinary Joe and I did, mostly because my grandparent’s bank remained open during the depression, and it was drilled into me.
Surely the brainiacs “brain stormed” this proposal; it’s mind boggling that nobody spoke up; unless they are masterminds playing 3-D chess, and this was a feature not a bug.

  6. Justin uttered the words “Emergency Act”, and it was so, even the CPC and its shills agree.
Now he has uttered the words “Emergency Act revoked” and all the shills celebrate, apparently not noticing the fact that assets are still being seized and cops are still threatening and arresting peaceful protesters.
Canada: A place where a 3 year old could swindle most of the population in the shell game.

  7. Meanwhile ALL of the Eco terrorism, Indigenous terrorism and BLM terrorism in Canada are funded by large foreign international donors: Rockefeller Foundation, Tides Foundation … Neil Young …

Once again … the Left accusing the conservative middle class of what they, themselves, are doing. Simple projection.

    1. The right would allow itself to be gunned down, and not shoot back, because “shooting at people is bad.”

The left is willing to crush its enemies and help its allies.
The right is not, because they’re not “hypocrites.”

      1. Kate likes to post articles by Kurt Schlicter who coined the phrase “new rules”. The new rules mean that the left no longer gets to define the narrative, one that the right historically accepted and consequently was always put on its back foot. Instead, as Trump demonstrated, the right needs to refuse making apologies and punch back twice as hard.

American talk show host Jesse Kelly takes it even further with his “when I’m in charge…” meme. He unapologetically calls the left “commies” and monsters who deserve no quarter. Although a lot of his shtick is bluster, it is incredibly effective at holding up the mirror to the left’s antics – they go absolutely nuts over his comments, completely unaware that he’s merely using their own tactics and language.

The Canadian right, with the exception of Max, has yet to grasp this and employ it. Mike Harris’ first term in Ontario proved it could be a winning approach, even in dulcet Canada.

        1. Harris got clobbered by the New Rules eventually. Remember Ipperwash? That was the event that finally brought him down and allowed the dismal idiot Eves to move in and bungle away the government.

  8. Just remember who have been propping up The Fool Trudeau for the last 5 years! The CBC and their associates. When Trudeau gets run out of office, and it looks inevitable, the CBC has got to be dismantled and the assets sold off immediately.

    1. I’ve considered that outcome but then after some pondering came up with a better fate where they get to choose their destructor.

      Give them two non-negotiable options.

1- remain on the government tit with the condition that they cease operations wherever a private operation is present and only operate in non competitive markets or where there is no media presence. That effectively would remove their presence from the internet, major cities, and keep them from bidding on broadcast rights for major events. It would also mean news reporting without editorial content (sorry Rosie, no At Issue for you). They would limit themselves to facilitating private operations getting established but restrict them from providing content.
2- become a private operation with not one cent of government money to keep them afloat.

Could put it in a campaign plank as “reviving the CBC” and honestly saying that there is a plan to make the CBC viable.

      1. A subscription service, you want it, you pay for it and it lives on that alone. Lefties are notoriously cheap, only generous with others read: taxpayer’s money, they should do well on the money they get from that. The CBC’s own employees would never pay to subscribe.

    2. Do not defund the CBC and possibly let it live in some form. Fire everyone and dismember it. Auction everything within 90 days including paper clips and old series. Whatever you can’t get a bid on burn. Send nothing to the archives. It produced nothing worth saving in 85 years.

  9. The moment that really made me lose my religion was when turdhole claimed that the EA was necessary because of all the foreign donations meant to “undermine Canadian democracy” which is seriously the most dishonest framing of a set of facts I have ever seen.

Most of those were from the US which at least until just recently was considered a friendly nation and I most definitely did not donate to undermine Canadian democracy. He egregiously insulted both myself, my fellow countrymen and my country as if we were some kind of threat to Canada just so he wouldn’t have to admit that he was wrong to not speak with the truckers. We won’t forget it any time soon.

    1. The Liberals and their pets sure as hell don’t turn away foreign donations to their party, foundations or causes to undermine Canadian democracy.

    2. Leggy

      Spot on.
Well said and fully agreed..I think that anyone who listened to his response a few yrs ago to a disabled Afghan Vet… ” we have no more to give”…says it all for this 2 bit Narrcistic Pedophilic spoiled punk…one with the intellect of a licked dry Dog Bowl.

He requires a Nicolae Ceasescu Ending…stat, right along side his 3 Amigos: the UkroNazi, Butts & Telford

    3. I was wondering just how many US and other “foreign” donors were Canadians. I saw one story of a New Zealand donor who was Canadian. Lots of Cdns in US so likely a good portion of US donors were Canadians.

    4. Also remember that USA truckers crossing the border were also hit with the same “rules”. BOTH nations had a stake in the Freedom Convoy. It is not just a Canadian issue… So if we in the USA are hit by a Canadian Mandate are we not allowed to protest it? To fund a protest? To be IN the protest? Or can citizens on both sides of the border participate equally in protesting it…

  10. Funny that in 2008, Canadian banks were the solid ones, but now have the shaking cooties.
Trudeau and his advisors have undermined the foundations of our economy by stifling pipeline construction, fossil fuel extraction, and made so much useless “investment” in diversity and equity and woke projects.
Now they have started a potentially snowballing run on the banks while the new Ottawa police chief is gleefully braying about how the financial tools in the Emergency act will help them track down and punish the perps. The best and brightest, because they said so.

    1. But…but…but…the Emergency Act was “revoked.”
Or so the entire political class of Canada would have you believe.

    2. Thanks for reminding us of other ways in which the Liberals have damaged the economy. We are operating as a glorified Barbados, when we should have been an oil/ resource power house. We were headed there under Harper. Utterly destroyed by Liberal policies. Next up, the 50 cent dollar.

  11. Unfortunately none of this really matters. Everyone in Canada knows Trudeau is a corrupt, incompetent imbecile, even the dirt bags that vote for him. There is a very old saying in politics, any government that robs Peter to pay Paul will always get Paul’s vote. As long as the Liberals promise to keep the cash flowing from west to east they will continue to get re-elected. It doesn’t matter who their “leader” is. If they will vote for someone as stupid and embarrassing as Trudeau they will vote for anyone.

  12. I wonder if we’ll get to see the price the Canadian banking system had to pay to protect Trudeau’s ego?

    1. Like the old credit card commercial, it goes something like this:

Savings pulled out of banks – $x billion dollars.
Number of accounts closed and moved offshore or to Crypto – xxx
Demolished credibility and integrity in Canada’s banks – priceless!

      1. Yep, I doubt I’ll ever trust the Canadian banking system again. All we have left in the bank is what’s required to pay bills. Why leave excess savings or investment products where they can be seized for having political opinions that the Canadian government doesn’t agree with and a government that then makes charitable donations supporting those political opinions illegal? Canadian banks shouldn’t have agreed to do Trudeau’s dirty work.

        1. Remember that Harper changed the banking act to make depositors shareholders. If they ‘fail’ my money is their money. Makes me wonder why the Deposit Insurance commercial slightly shifted to the phrase, ‘in the unlikely but possible event of a bank failure’ or something like that.

  13. Posted this in Oddments for the weekend but thought it might garner more discussion here.

Just athought about the Truckers Convoy and how the government and banks handled the situation. We now know that we are being boxed into a corner where TPTB want us on a digital currency where they have complete control of our financial records and history. If we allow this to happen we have lost another freedom. A solution to this is to revert back to a cold currency economy but that would require a great deal of effort on each individual. With the unplanned run on the banks over the last week we know that the amounts that we removed individually were trivial but the numbers of us that removed the small amounts were far greater than either the goverenment or the banks anticipated and as a result we influenced policy. Perhaps we could use this example to further influence policy. With the upcoming tax season soon to be upon us is there any reason to remain in line with the government and bank’s plan to move to a digital economy or can we return to a cold cash program. Suppose we all decided to pay the taxes owed in cash, cold hard cash? It would mean a personal trip to the local tax office, or perhaps in abscence of a local tax office a trip to the local post office since it is a Crrown Corporation. Have we gone so far down the road to a dictatortal state that we can no longer pay taxes with the “coin of the realm”? Any comments on this solution to put governments and banks back in their place from any lawyer, accountant, or financial expert that has any knowledge regarding this solution? As the Truckers Convoy illustrated “United we Stand, Divided we Serve!

As an addendum it would appear that Trump was right once again with his call for disinfectant to treat the virus. Canadian company claims a better solution to covid than the injections, through a nasal spray.

  14. People who claim that the evil protesters hell bent on overthrowing the government were a threat because of foreign funding should shake their heads. What about the steady flow of cash to the eco-terrorists who have protested against energy companies, pipelines, logging, fish farming, etc.

“Total foreign funding of ‘Canadian-based’ environmental initiatives was $1.28 billion between 2003 and 2019. The commissioner states that these figures are likely significantly understated,” claimed the report.

    https://tnc.news/2022/02/08/left-wing-causes-in-canada-show-plenty-of-us-funding-and-resources/

    1. Rebel livestream today discussed the funds from GazProm to eco-creep groups to stifle North American energy production. TurdHole still making us buy USSR oil at premium prices, which helps Putin pay for his empire expansion plans.

  15. Over on yesterday’s The Greater Fool , Garth Turner said there was absolutely no run on the banks, it’s all anecdotal fairy tales. He’s in the investment business, so must calm the masses lest they get any notion that something could be going on. OTOH, I had no problem withdrawing a large amount of $20 bills from my local TD branch the other day.

    1. Unfortunately, about 2/3 of Canadians seem to be without brain cells. The takedown of the truckers was wildly popular amongst my extended family members and about 66% of the country too according to polls. We have a LOOONG way to go to wake up society. Most couldn’t be arsed: they just want to vegetate with their Netflix and Uber Eats.

      1. They aren’t paying attention. They are living on auto-pilot. They believe whatever the supposedly non-biased and absolutely trustworthy CBC tells them. Those truckers were all Nazis and white supremacist running riot in Ottawa and good riddance to the scum.

Its beyond sad that they have no clue how much they are being lied to. Its why the great Turd can lie with such impunity.

    2. The walking brain dead are everywhere. They will even tell you why the EA invocation was justified. When presented with facts and comparisons they go into total denial and name calling mode.
