I’ll just note: You know who is not sacking national security advisors, foreign affairs ministers, other cabinet ministers, etc. just weeks before historic meeting of leaders of North Korea and the U.S.? North Korea. Think about that. Less crazy than America right now.

@JRMarlow — I would watch a documentary that chronicles David Akin’s and Michael Coren’s 180 degree shift from Sun TV personalities to whatever the hell they are now.

A firearm was discharged during an early-morning break-and-enter in a rural area near Spiritwood.
According to an RCMP news release, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident, which took place Tuesday around 12:30 a.m.
One man is in custody, RCMP said. The man in custody “did not discharge a firearm,” police added. No charges were immediately laid in connection with the incident.
In an update Tuesday evening, the RCMP said they have charged Ronald Joseph, 28, of Big River First Nation.
Joseph has been charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a firearm, break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, operation of a motor vehicle while disqualified, and three counts of theft of motor vehicle.

Is it ‘news’ or is it opposition research?
I recently posed several queries to Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS. That’s the oppo research company at the center of the surveillance controversy in our intel agencies’ Russia probe. I asked what news organizations Fusion GPS has worked with, what news and media personalities it has researched for what clients, and whether it’s researched any congressional members or staffers. I also wanted to know if, as a former news reporter himself, Simpson thinks news organizations should disclose their relationship with firms like his. As of this writing, I haven’t received a response.
I’ll just call it “opposition news” and change the channel.

Did the “Woke Blacks” Instagram account really cost Clinton the election? Glenn Greenwald returns to the show to ask basic but rarely asked questions about the troll army’s presumed efficacy, explain his often mischaracterized position on Russiagate, and call out Republicans and Democrats for hypocritically supporting unfettered power for national security state surveillance.
Watch the Persecution of a Gun Owner Unfold
An interesting story is unfolding in Southern California. Here are some of the headlines:
- Feds charge former Pasadena police spokesman with illegally selling more than 100 guns
- Pasadena police officer illegally sold more than 100 guns, some outlawed in California, feds say
- Pasadena police lieutenant indicted on charges of illegally selling around 100 firearms
Read through the first two stories and watch the clip in the third link. Is it unfair to conclude that most people would think, “Rogue cop got caught”?
But don’t be so sure. Listen to Mark Geragos provide a very different version of the story, beginning about 3 minutes into this podcast.
Update: Podcast link fixed!

My veterinarian doesn’t look at my dog, tell me it’s a cat, and then label me “alt-reich” when I object.

This Is CNN
A reporter for CNN appeared to harass an elderly woman in Florida during a segment that aired on the network on Tuesday, accusing her of working with Russian nationals during the 2016 presidential election.
CNN special investigations unit reporter Drew Griffin approached the woman at what appears to be her home and got confrontational with her, making her visibly upset in the process as she was obviously overwhelmed by having a television crew in her face making accusations against her.

Finally, proof of collusion.
A check of their November 12 coverage showed both CNN and MSNBC gave enthusiastic coverage to the Russian-organized anti-Trump rally that day, with live reports every hour. Correspondents celebrated the idea that it was “a love rally,” and repeated the marchers’ anti-Trump mantras, such as: “We reject the President-elect.”

Anyone familiar with the The Matrix trilogy knows the meaning of “the glitch” term.
British journalist Jordan Greenhall recently published a deep analysis of the now infamous Peterson-Newman “debate”:
It’s too early to tell but one has reason to suspect that future historians will look back at this event as a pivotal marker of the definitive decline of the mainstream media.

Live by the tweet… die by the tweet.
On Thursday afternoon, the Anti-Defamation League reported that a white supremacist group claimed ties with Nikolas Cruz, who confessed to the shooting spree that killed at least 17 people, including many high-school students, at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
“A spokesperson for the white supremacist group Republic of Florida (ROF) told the Anti-Defamation League on Thursday, February 15, that Nikolas Cruz [….] was associated with his group,” the ADL reported. The ADL quoted a man named Jordan Jereb, who runs the small group, which is based in Tallahassee.
“Jereb added that ROF had not ordered or wanted Cruz to do anything like the school shooting,” the ADL wrote in a blog post that was quickly picked up by ABC News and The Associated Press, and later percolated through dozens of other media outlets.

Attkisson pointed out that “fake news” in the form of tabloid journalism and false media narratives has always been around under different names.
But she noticed in 2016, there seemed to be a concerted effort by the MSM to focus America’s attention on the idea of “fake news” in conservative media. That looked like a propaganda effort to Attkisson, so she did a little digging and traced the new spin to a little non-profit called “First Draft,” which, she said, “appears to be the about the first to use ‘fake news’ in its modern context.”
“On September 13, 2016, First Draft announced a partnership to tackle malicious hoaxes and fake news reports,” Attkisson explained. “The goal was supposedly to separate wheat from chaff, to prevent unproven conspiracy talk from figuring prominently in internet searches. To relegate today’s version of the alien baby stories to a special internet oblivion.”
She noted that a month later, then-President Obama chimed in.
