UBC: Where Freedom of Thought Goes to Die
3 UBC professors and a graduate student are fed up and not going to take it any more:
A group of professors and a graduate student are taking the University of British Columbia to court to stop the school from engaging in “political activity,” which they claim limits academic freedom and violates legislation requiring it to be non-political.
The petition filed in B.C. Supreme Court Monday says the school is breaching the University Act through the use of Indigenous land acknowledgements, promotion of equity and inclusion initiatives and by taking positions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A section of the act requires universities to be both non-sectarian and non-political, but the group claims UBC is engaging in activities that violate the legislation.
The “W” Word
There are a few skills that are hard-wired into the brains of infants that are so fundamental, and so critical for survival, that they’re operative from the moment of birth — if not sooner. One of them is pattern recognition, which is how infants recognize their mother’s faces. Even the youngest child is capable of matching a new stimulus with an event that’s previously established in their memory, and alter their behavior accordingly. Of course animals do the same thing.
But a funny thing happened to pattern recognition, starting around the middle of the last century. Pattern recognition transformed from a fundamental feature of human psychology to something far more sinister. To paraphrase the author Steve Sailer, a “war on noticing” commenced.

From Climategate to Covid, Google neutered their once powerful search engine in service of a political narrative.
Since ChatGPT burst onto the scene 2½ years ago, Wall Street has wondered whether it was a major threat to Google’s search business. And with Alphabet Inc.’s stock now 25% off its highs, a Melius Research analyst is exploring that question with a bit more intensity.
Melius’s Ben Reitzes asked Monday whether Google is the next Kodak.

Not only will they have to seek expensive legal advice, but it may mean employing “banter bouncers” to eavesdrop on customers and eject them if they say anything a pink-haired barmaid (they/them) might object to. Lists of banned words will have to be displayed on walls – “mothers”, “breast-feeding”, “woman” – and regulars may be asked to undergo unconscious bias training.

Well they’re obviously not the same thing. But it’s fair to suggest that whenever citizen expression is suppressed, government speech is amplified. Which does make it that much more important for us to understand exactly what government is currently saying and how they’re saying it.

If you get a chance, please watch (or listen to) Matt Taibbi & Walter Kirn’s latest podcast.
Let me summarize their thesis: 60 Minutes has released this piece to normalize the clampdown on free speech. Margaret Brennan tried to do the same against Marco Rubio. So, why would they be doing this? According to these journalists, the Revenge of the Deep State is going to be happening sooner than you think. CBS News, being a reliable mouthpiece for the Deep State, is doing their part to lay the groundwork.

Free Speech in America, Once Again
This is one of the most important executive orders since Trump took power on January 20, 2025:
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution, an amendment essential to the success of our Republic, enshrines the right of the American people to speak freely in the public square without Government interference. Over the last 4 years, the previous administration trampled free speech rights by censoring Americans’ speech on online platforms, often by exerting substantial coercive pressure on third parties, such as social media companies, to moderate, deplatform, or otherwise suppress speech that the Federal Government did not approve. Under the guise of combatting “misinformation,” “disinformation,” and “malinformation,” the Federal Government infringed on the constitutionally protected speech rights of American citizens across the United States in a manner that advanced the Government’s preferred narrative about significant matters of public debate. Government censorship of speech is intolerable in a free society.
So, the next time anyone uses the 3 highlighted words, be they in America or elsewhere, know that they are purely trying to silence your free speech because you dared to challenge their narrative.
