  1. Last I heard, Manning never paid Timothy Ball’s estate for court-awarded legal costs. The court was in B.C. (Manning’s choice), so I guess there are no repurcussions. Doesn’t say much for his ethics, though.

Will Manning pay National Review’s legal costs? Given that it’s an American court, he might.

    1. Who is Manning?

The hockey stick temperature graph guy was Dr Michael Mann. He was the one fighting Tim Ball and Mark Steyn in court.

    1. That is because he is on the left. This is only my personal experience with people who vote NDP but they ALWAYS forget their credit card or cheque book when at a restaurant and expect you to pay and say “I will pay you back” FYI – they never do! Because of this, if I want to spend some time in their company, I just tell them that the meal is on me. Then they order the most expensive item as well as an appetizer and then ask if they can take the left overs (even yours) home with them for later.

  2. Just because Mann is ordered to pay does not mean he will pay anything without a gun to his head. Ask the late Tim Ball’s widow how much Mann has paid Ball’s estate. A verdict with leftist slime is not a guarantee because the law to them is a thing of convenience, not righteousness.

    1. Attempting to cheat a company of lawyers out of a legal judgment in their favour is begging for more and much worse punishment. Among many other things, if he tries to refuse payment, they can get a legal order to start garnishing income and assets.

This will cripple him as a far Left political asset. My expectation would be that, if Mann is worth the political value as a Democrat asset, some big Daddy Warbucks will pony up the money for the legal costs.

  3. Convìcted serial pedophile and often compared Penn State workmate of Michael Mann, Jerry Sandusky has 20 years left in the can.

Odds are Jerry gets out before MM pays a nickel.

  4. As Mark has often said, punitive damages are usually a one digit ratio to actual damages. The judgement was $1 in actual damages, so the punitive should have been no more than $9. Here the jury came up with a million to one ratio. I guess it’s now a mere 5k to one?

Real justice would require Mann to pay Mark and Rand’s legal costs as well.

Mann paid zero of his own legal costs, all being paid by environmental organizations.

    1. And keep in mind that the $1 million dollars was awarded by a DC jury. They had a 100% conviction rate for J6 defendants. So you know they’re unbiased and never make mistakes.

    2. Steyn should have contested the venue, since neither him nor Mann are from DC, or operate businesses in DC.

  5. Good news … but not enough. And as a reminder … the process is the punishment. Who’s gonna give Steyn his time and health back from having to suffer this indignity? And … the ruling is still WRONG.

  6. From “Watts up with That:”

“They (the jurors) bought into the lawyers closing statement that even though Mann had suffered no real damages, they needed to send a message to other people who might think about disagreeing with the government’s position on scientific questions.
(In my opinion, that closing statement alone should have been grounds for a mistrial.)”

The judgment is still wrong in principle. Steyn is innocent.

  7. mann, turdo, schiff. On looks alone, if they needed CPR, you’d stand on their throats.

  8. $5,000 won’t even buy Mann’s lawyers a lunch, guess they will have to settle for a hearty breakfast (of crow)

  9. Mann…over board!

Best news in a long time.

Now pony up to Tim Ball’s estate you loser

  10. They got their trillion dollars.. Now they can hibernate like bears for 3 years and 11 months..

    We haven’t won a thing..

  11. In Reading about Dr. Tim Ball’ s trial with Dr. Mann ! It was apparent that the IPCC were bank rolling Mann! Dr. Tim Ball was totally correct in his assessment of Mann’s work!
Dr Ball won but it bankrupt him ! Mann never paid what he was instructed to pay by the court!
In my mind Dr. Tim Ball and Mark Steyn are heroes for standing up for the truth!
I’m sure glad for Mark just wish Tim’s family could get some help!
