A disturbing press release from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) says that cyber-bullying from animal activists has caused the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) to halt its “America’s Favorite Veterinarian Contest.”

The vet associations have been feeding the crocodile for years — and now it’s coming for them.

A La Loche woman who was attacked by a pack of dogs last month says the community needs to do something about its dog problem before someone is killed.
Belinda Montgrand was walking to the village post office after 5 p.m. on Oct. 20 when more than 20 dogs suddenly ran at her.

La Loche Mayor Robert St. Pierre acknowledges that dog control has been an issue in the village for years. The community spends more than $20,000 a year on dog culls and to pay groups to take truck-loads of canines out of the community to be adopted elsewhere.

Funny, how two or three posts ago a judge made a decision advocating the rape of a Muslim wife because neither she nor her husband supposedly knew it was wrong.
Now we’re supposed to believe that some Muslim women actually choose to wear a symbol of obedience and subservience.

I cannot stress this strongly enough — if you’re in agriculture, talk to your MLA. Today’s declawed cat is tomorrow’s docked lamb or dehorned calf. While the CVMA is only an advisory body, the real power is vested in the provincial boards.
Veterinary Associations in province after province are being hijacked by urban-centric social justice agenda vets. These Association boards bypass the legislative process and write de facto “law” by banning procedures, stripping the minority of practitioners of the right to provide these services under threat of fines and loss of license.
In provinces like BC and New Brunswick, these prohibitions have empowered the even more radical SPCA’s, granting them the authority to seize animals if breeders are suspected of performing traditional animal husbandry procedures themselves.
Our Agriculture Ministers need to roll back the power of these Associations now, and affirm the individual veterinarian’s right to practice according to law.

Yet another city has tabled an HSUS-backed ordinance to ban circuses in its city limits. The committee in Newark, OH charged with deciding the proposal’s fate decided not to send it to the full city council. A bi-partisan majority, two Democrats and two Republicans, refrained from seconding the motion to vote, effectively killing the proposed law.
Unfortunately, the local Kiwanis club had already decided to cancel a circus later this summer that was expected to raise thousands for charity.

Imported “rescues” bring canine influenza;

In March 2017, canine influenza H3N2 was identified in dogs in Los Angeles (LA) County. Most of the dogs were imported from Asia and seen by a veterinarian after arrival into LA County. The dogs showed signs consistent with influenza such as coughing, sneezing, fever and nasal discharge. Testing of two dogs revealed a strain of canine influenza H3N2 commonly found in Asia.

And now this highly contagious, imported disease has found its way into the highly travelled dog show world, with events being cancelled and owners facing thousands in veterinary costs to treat it.
As politicians enact anti-breeding legislation written by left wing activists, and enforced by the unaccountable extremists that have taken over humane societies, dogs are arriving from all over the world to supply the virtue signalling “rescue” market, even restocking shelters that would otherwise be near empty.
Sound familiar?

Capping a legacy that stretches back to the legendary 19th century showman P.T. Barnum, the circus bids farewell at a series of shows this weekend at newly refurbished Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale on New York’s Long Island. A worldwide audience will watch the last show on Sunday evening via a live stream on the Ringling website.
The finale, announced by parent Feld Entertainment Inc in January, comes a year after the company bowed to pressure from animal rights activists and agreed to stop using elephants in its performances. A featured attraction for more than a century, the elephants had come to symbolize the Ringling Bros brand.
Feld decided to fold up the tent as a result of high operating costs combined with lower ticket sales, it said in a statement at the time. After phasing out the elephants, the owner said, the decline in attendance was “greater than could have been anticipated.”

Their final show begins at 7pm Eastern. And then it ends.
