Here is what the Audubon page says about the Double Crested Cormorant Habitat:
Coasts, bays, lakes, rivers. Very adaptable, may be found in almost any aquatic habitat, from rocky northern coasts to mangrove swamps to large reservoirs to small inland ponds. Nests in trees near or over water, on sea cliffs, or on ground on islands.
Oh … and the bird is as common as DIRT
Oh … and it took me less than 15 seconds to learn this.
Oh … and I am a SERIOUS birdwatcher (Christmas counter), and support all (reasonable) forms of habitat preservation. But it does NOBODY any good to WASTE resources on feel-good-sounding, virtue-signaling RUBBISH.
The DEMORATS once again spending taxpayer hard earned money on stup*d stuff.The Cormorants would have just moved down the road to the other bridge! Then paid themselves more money while not working UNIONS are a big problem. The right to work should be enforced we don’t need any stinking UNIONS anymore employees get a fair wage these days! TAXPAYER MONEY WASTED ONCE AGAIN!!!
In the area around the apartment complex where I live, we have several bird species, some of which build their nests there. For example, I’ve seen several generations of magpies over the years.
Birds adapt quickly to changes in their environment and they manage to thrive. When they build a nest, all they need is construction material and a place that’s dry and out of the reach of predators. Many species prefer places that are familiar to them but they also know that things can change.
They’re smart enough to figure out things and I’ve also learned not to interfere. They have their ways and it’s best not to meddle.
Evidently, the San Francisco cormorants are brighter than the SJWs who thought they were helping them.
Reminds me of a few years ago when the City of Edmonton was refurbishing a bridge that crosses a ravine by my place. Before they could start they had to do an inventory of every tree in the ravine. I have no idea what they planned to do if one of their trees went missing.
I too am an occasional bird watcher in my travels. Have id’d 253 species to date. Further there are a half dozen sub species. None endangered-to my knowledge. Here in in Sask. they are very common . See large flocks going south in the fall. Easy to recognize by their high held heads in flight.

during my last visit to the main green party stomping grounds, I was treated to the sight of clear cut areas that had had the dirt and undergrowth left over all bulldozed into neat piles.
being the outsider, I inquired ‘howcum dat’?
came the reply from my brudder the forestry consultant, oh, that’s because the whacko environmentalists don’t like the unsightliness of all that tangled pine needles and branches and stuff.
came the followup Q: but isn’t that the kind of leftover stuff that provides cover for seeds waiting to sprout with the newly abundant sunshine, and what about all the rodents scurrying about that need cover for safety and from the cold?
came the reply to *that* Q, ‘like I said, enviro whackos.’
