Fair warning: when they come for my window bird feeder … I go full “Las Vegas”. Real wrath of Allah kind of massacre on the government.

Granola Island, the intellectual centre of the universe….. Yeah, right.
At my house in B. C., all birds are welcome. The little critters can get quite hungry during the winters there and that’s why I put out seed for them.
Now there’s a sign that’s just crying to be abused.
Are there any operatives in the Vancouver area?
I suspect the next program will be bird feeder vigilante committees who will spy on peoples back yards to find and destroy bird feeders. Time to also organize protests at Cdn Tire stores they sell feeders, houses and birdfeed. This idiosyncrasy seems to have no end.

In some cases it’s more cruel than others. Depends firstly on whether you kill the birds humanely before feeding them, and if you don’t, then on what animal at you feed the birds to.
… but these liberals would never make the logical leap that free handouts to healthy humans is indirect cruelty, same as with the birds destroys their ability and willingness to support themselves.

Yes indeed, that very thought crossed my mind too.
Disturbing how the indirect cruelty of welfare on humans seems not to be as urgent.
But also, I’m always amused by sentences about an institution …. thinking. (the elipsis represents hand to chin).
I’ve snapped lots of these kinds of signs while riding California.
For example, plaques on the outside walls of hotels to the effect that “California considers the chemicals used in the hotel laundry to be unhealthy”.
OTOH, they don’t seem to consider illegal aliens with arm long criminal convictions to be potentially injurious.
One can only hope that the SPCA soon sends its storm troopers after the legions of nitwits in Toronto (for some reason, many of these seem to live in the “trendy” Beaches area) who put out food for the raccoons. You know, those morbidly obese raccoons which are already about twice the size of their wild cousins, even before being plied with cat food by well meaning idiots (the kind that can always be counted on to sign any petition to ban the inhumane practices of trapping or hunting). One wishes that these folks could be shipped off to the Great White North where they might be able to learn (the hard way, of course) what happens when you feed the bears. Or rather, what happens when the bears get used to being fed, and then you stop for a few weeks while you are on vacation and come back to find the bears broke into your house and helped themselves.
But Wind Turbines are “Green” while birdseeds are…….oh frack, I can’t keep up anymore.
That is the level of insanity we are at in our society.

And about bloody well time too. All the bird feeding in the neighborhood has attracted a host of rats, culminating in over $400 in repairs to the wiring of my Subaru. So now I snipe chickadees and any other fluttering vermin as well as the rats.

Not unreasonable at all, in context. Birds living in an urban environment have done so BECAUSE of the availability of shelter and food. Sure, feeding them bread and other human food isn’t the best thing for their health, but seriously, birdseed from reputable sources?! WTF???
We live in a rural area and don’t feed the birds (other than Hummingbirds,) but we have planted a lot of trees, plants, and shrubs that are choice habitat for the winged critters. Birdseed just attracts rats and mice, not to mention bears. (Not you personally, Rat!) 😉
Knowing the intolerance the SPCA has for competition,they will no doubt be rolling out their own officially branded, safe for consumption bird seed, soon. Just as soon as they outlaw all other birdseed, cuz it’s not safe, wink wink nudge nudge.
These animal rights types, whether SPCA or dog rescue people, are zealous NAZIs. End stop.
There’s a political lesson in all of this. Those like ourselves (Conservatives) who learn at an early age to scratch for a living remain healthy, fending for ourselves and watching out for the worst while those who simply line up at the feeder for a handout become complacent, and sometimes while eating fall prey to the cats.
First bit of common sense out of the SPCA in years. According to the BC Wildlife act it is illegal to feed wild life. Oh its seems so reasonable to feed the little chickadees but who are you really helping? Your property values mainly.
Birds often get garbage food contaminated with moulds and sugars. Never mind larger species like raccoons. That simply blows me away to think people actively feed them.

So would they rather have the birds starve all becuase some panty waste thinks feeding them is Unhealthy Well SCREW THEM Birds Yes Snowflakes No
It is inconceivable that tossing a few seeds into a feeder is somehow ‘disrupting’ the suburban wildlife habitat. And what if I put out a few strands of yarn and twigs for their nests ? OMG! Lock me up!
But do I hike into the wilderness with 100lb bags of birdseed ? Uh, No. The wilderness should remain as WILD as possible … Suburbia, and Urbia ? Don’t be stupid.
