It is great to hear that the Humane Society of the United States and their Legislative Fund are running scared. For too long the previous administration and government has stood by allowing these extremist groups to push their agenda down the throats of unsuspecting Americans. It is long past time they were stopped in their tracks.
They are afraid because Scott Pruitt has a history of standing up to the Humane Society of the United States. In 2014, when Pruitt was Attorney General for the State of Oklahoma, he opened an investigation into the activities of the Humane Society of the United States. He also issued a public message stating that groups like the Humane Society of the United States are asking for donations and giving the impression that the funds collected would go to assisting Oklahoma animal shelters. Instead, funds were really going to write and promote legislation in other states and on the federal level. Of note, the HSUS responded with a lawsuit against Pruitt for harassment because they didn’t want to release the information he requested under the Oklahoma Solicitation of Charitable Contributions Act.
They are afraid because as EPA Director, Scott Pruitt can better watch-dog their activities and attempts to influence law and regulations to push their radical extremist agenda. In addition to misleading fundraising efforts, the Humane Society of the United States has made efforts to influence the EPA, their regulations, and to obtain information from them. They have “Public Commenters” they send to open meetings equipped with slide presentations. Under the Freedom of Information Act, they tried to get a list from the EPA that included data collected on farmers in the United States as well as data from Clean Water Act permits. Using the EPA as their delivery system to help end all hunting, they have worked to make hunting more difficult by attempting to push through regulations about ammunition.

PETA Wants Fictional Space Vikings From the Year 40,000 to Stop Wearing Fur
PETA UK have written to Games Workshop, makers of Warhammer 40,000 and its myriad table-top gaming models, asking them to cease depicting imagery of its myriad characters wearing animal fur and make them “fur free.”
It’s part of the broader strategy – PETA’s antics are calculated to make the equally radical, but far more insidious HSUS appear reasonable.

You Are Not A “Pet Parent”
A vanishingly rare moment of sanity in an increasingly crazy world.
In a ruling that references butter knives, euthanasia and cats named Slimey and Oinky, a Saskatoon judge made an impassioned defence of the notion that, when it comes to the law, dogs should not be treated as though they were children.
It’s just a matter of time.

From a friend;
Had my first taste of ugly dog trafficking today. This trailer packed full of dogs and puppies stopped at our hotel in Allentown PA this evening.
I took this picture and wandered down closer. Crates stacked floor to ceiling, most had multiple dogs in them. Dozens of people walked dogs ohhing and awwing. The transport owner stepped in front of me and asked what I wanted. I looked in the trailer and said really? If a breeder ever had that many dogs packed into crates like like they’d be crucified. Someone said “he’s not a breeder, he’s a rescuer!” I said how much to transport? He said I only charge $185 a dog. I said no you’re not a dog breeder, you’re a dog trafficker.
I started to walk away and he stepped in front of me and wouldn’t let me pass. I said please get out of my face. He screamed at me “I’M IN YOUR FACE”, with a lovely spray of spit. I probably should have called the police right then but I must tell you crowd was getting rabid. One woman screamed at me I was an asshole and I should get my head out of my ass. If they had rocks, I think I would have been pelted.
Boy, people are losing their heads and brains when it comes to this nonsense. My educated guess on his take for this transport? At least 150 dogs in this trailer. A neat $27,750. It’s just a damned shame people don’t get this concerned about hungry, poor children in this country than they do about this supposed load of these poor Texas dogs heading to the Northeast for adoption.
The ultimate virtue signalling accessory, so-called “rescues” are being farmed, imported, and sometimes stolen to supply the insatiable demand. Don’t fall for this scam.
An update — the original writer of this account has now withdrawn her Facebook post from public view, due to threats and abuse from purported dog rescuers, (some of which you can read for yourself in the comments here). Nice people, these.

The ‘Modernizing Animal Protections Act” was introduced last week by Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith of Toronto. It is being promoted as legislation to ban of the importation of shark fins and outlaw the practice of shark finning in Canadian waters. But that is only the tip of the fin.
An activist coalition of Canadian and U.S. animal rights organizations with a decades-long history of sustained attacks on anglers and farmers quickly supported the private member’s bill. Led by the International Fund for Animal Welfare of Yarmouth, Massachusetts and the Toronto-based Animal Alliance of Canada, these groups have once again come out in strong support of federal legislation which threatens a criminal charge, up to a $10,000 fine and five years jail time for anglers who harvest a few fish for dinner.
Provisions in Bill C-246 clearly make it possible for someone who catches a fish to face criminal prosecution for cruelty to animals. Even the act of baiting a hook with a worm would be considered an act of cruelty according to the Bill.

Social License, Part II
A company that operates at least 13 wind-energy facilities across three states is suing in federal court to block the US government from releasing information to the Associated Press about how many birds are found dead at its facilities.
Meanwhile in Saskatchewan, the grisly toll continues to rise.
The wildlife death toll has now risen to 58 birds, fish, and other species.
Lucky little girl.
And as they ran toward the sounds, they saw the cat holding Kelsi in its mouth.
I’m sure the animal rights extremists and bleeding hearts of social media are planning to protest killing the animal.

According to [the Five STar Movement] 62-page manifesto – which also called for better urban planning and the protection of public land – Turin’s new mayor said the endorsement of meat-free and even dairy-free living was fundamental to the protection of the environment, health, and the wellbeing of animals.
While the specifics of the strategy have not been disclosed, the city is expected to set up educational projects in schools to teach students about animal welfare and nutrition.

From retail rescue to retail rabies…
It’s estimated, in fact, that tens of thousands of winsome canine refugees enter the country every year — while many others are shipped vast distances inside Canada.
But the growing, humanitarian-motivated trend is inadvertently creating a major public-health headache, fuelling a rebound in the deadly rabies problem and importing other nasty diseases, public health officials warn.
A federal-government journal has just documented three recent cases of stray puppies being taken from Nunavut or northern Quebec — where the deadly disease is endemic among Arctic foxes — to new homes in southern Canada, only for the owners to discover they had acquired rabid animals.

Don’t let a few dead cats stand in the way of progress: NY lawmakers want cat declawing outlawed
The New York State Veterinary Medical Society, however, opposes the bill. […]
“(Declawing) is one method to allow a beloved feline companion to continue to live in a household rather than relinquishing the family pet to a shelter,” the Veterinary Medical Society’s lobbyist wrote. “Declawing should remain a viable alternative to euthanasia if all other options have failed.”
Not all veterinarians agree with that position, however.
Declawing cats can result in complications with both long-term and short-term effects, said Eileen Jefferson, a veterinarian and member of Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association.
I will say, it’s amusing to watch as the brave new humane generation of progressive-educated veterinarians plot occupational suicide.

They’re going to put a lot of zoos and ranchers out of business: Throughout the course of her campaign, Clinton and her team have spoken with animal rights advocates such as Russell Simmons, entertainment mogul/philanthropist; Congressman Earl Blumenauer; Simone Reyes, Director of Television Development at Def Pictures; Judie Mancuso, president of animal welfare organization Social Compassion in Legislation; and experts from the Humane Society and other animal welfare groups.

Earls said it “is committed to sourcing as much beef as possible from Alberta and will work to build more of the supply they need” but did not provide numbers in terms of what percentage of of beef it purchases will now come from Alberta again.
Keep the pressure on.
