Gold Bars Off The Titanic

Sun- Stop pretending the government funds anything — we do

We now live in a country where the average person works until early June just to pay their taxes — where small and mid-sized business owners are crushed under a pile of forms, fees, audits, payroll taxes, and levies — where provinces like Manitoba continue to grow their bureaucracies while basic services falter. Our emergency rooms close without notice. Our roads crumble. Our courts are backed up. And yet, governments at all levels act like more spending is the only answer.

“Russia is rapidly isolating its internet-connected infrastructure from the outside world.”

Richard Fernandez (facebook) – Suddenly it’s no longer safe to be an international big wheel: an oligarch, decorated general, intelligence colonel. The age of sending cannon fodder against the guns has been replaced by the targeted hit. Fame is no longer a luxury. Invisibility is.

Today, if you scanned and counted public-facing Russian servers and other devices, the country would appear smaller than Romania or Sweden, states with 5-10 times smaller populations.

Before October 15th, 2024, Russia had around 920,000 public internet-facing devices and services. These publicly exposed IP addresses include a wide range of networked devices and services, such as routers, email servers, VPN servers, various web panels, load balancers, video systems, and other software or connected hardware.

Overnight, almost half of these devices disappeared, the ShadowServer Foundation IoT data reveals.

The number briefly spiked above two million devices before the end of 2024 and then collapsed again even further. The publicly visible Russian internet infrastructure remains close to 270,000 devices this year.

Sparky Car Circus

When the Liberals abruptly cancelled EV rebates, they apparently forgot about rebate claims that hadn’t yet been submitted. Guess who’s on the hook for that.

The program provided up to $5,000 toward the purchase of a new zero-emissions vehicle. But with the abrupt suspension of the program — only three days after the government suggested it would be paused when the funds were exhausted — hundreds of dealerships were forced to swallow the cost of any rebate claims they hadn’t yet submitted.

He said that, collectively, dealers are out about $11 million.

“Corporate Drones”

The Spectator- Meet the Stepford Employees

The Stepford Employee is characterised by their conformity and submissiveness. Named after the Ira Levin novel and film adaptations The Stepford Wives – in which men in a suburban American town are married to docile female robots – these corporate drones have seemingly abandoned independent thought or action. Their passivity makes them afraid to speak up or offer any opinion. They suppress their individuality to fit in and avoid conflict or disapproval. As for banter, forget it – the office is now a fun-free, Puritan-like environment.
