This is simply graft and corruption. I would be surprised if 5% is actually going to what they say it is going to. And I would be surprised if even 10% is going out of the country and not into some politician’s bank account. At a time when he’s talking about laying off huge swaths of Canadians and hiking the GST because of how broke we are, sending this money to Moldova is a disgrace.
Something more nefarious is at work here. Most Moldovans realize that the future in that region involves a pivot toward Russia as it is a regional power and is not broke. Thus the EU puppet gubmint there needs money to slosh around to try to slow that. Since europe is broke, enter marx blarney who is offering them Alberta tax money to do their dirty deeds. This is utterly evil.

No. This is incorrect, majority in Moldova hate Russia. Moldova was part of Romania, they speak Romanian and they look forward to joining EU which would mean to unite back with their true origin.
Future in that region is EU, not Russia. I am from that region and I know very well that NO ONE (Finland to Turkey) – no one from that region likes Russia. Every single country E & SE Europe knows + has bad blood w Russia.
If our government had an interest in Canadian rural women, it would likely only be predatory.
Canada seems to have a strange “Big Brother” type relationship with Moldova. There are exchanges going back decades involving low interest loans, gifting crime fighting equipment (including police cars), and various other assets. The weird thing is that the trade between the two countries remains very minimal.
Also, Moldova seems to be very transient. Over 50% of their population has matriculated to other parts of the world (mostly the EU) in order to find employment.
Welp, doesn’t look like the elites have ever met a pioneer woman, like my grandma.. She Could: raise, kill and butcher chickens, milk the cows, make butter, sew or make just about anything with fabric, feed 10’s of people at the dinner table with wonderful home made food, including home made marshmellows, bake fresh bread every day, pick berries with the bears, haul water from the creek, until they had indoor plumbing, hitch her own horse and buggy and go to town, and raise 10 kids in the meantime!!

Moldovan women are touted to be the most beautiful in the world, in hopes that a rich man will marry them and take them away from a life of servitude, that the liberals seem to be leaning towards trapping them into, just like they are trying to do to us, here in Canada…

Also, we’ve gotten so used to the idea that of being taxed that we are not at all critical about how that money that is taken from us by force is distributed That have no benefit to us.
All taxes should have specific purposes and be restricted to those uses and not just for my huge slush fund for every parasite to latch onto.
Shithole countries like that have the highest kickback rates.
Look at where Muldova is on a map, it borders Ukraine the most corrupt country on the face of the planet. They aren’t doing anything to help Muldovans, they are transferring wealth from the Canadian tax base into their own pockets.
