Chinese migrants living across Toronto were obtaining mortgages from HSBC while supposedly earning extravagant salaries from remote-work jobs in China. In one example, an Ontario casino worker that owned three homes also claimed to earn $345,000 in 2020 analyzing data remotely for a Beijing company.

Before joining HSBC Canada, the whistleblower had studied fake-income mortgage frauds for his Business Masters degree at Vancouver Island University. After arriving at Aurora in February 2022, while digging into the branch’s loan books and interrogating his colleagues, he made mind-blowing assessments.

Since 2015, the whistleblower concluded, more than 10 Toronto-area HSBC branches had issued at least $500-million in home loans to diaspora buyers claiming exaggerated incomes or non-existent jobs in China.

These foreign-income scams spiked during the pandemic, the whistleblower believed, because borrowers could somewhat plausibly claim to be working remotely in other countries while riding out Covid-19 in Canada.

While a small bank of Aurora’s size was expected to issue about $23-million in residential loans every year, this branch had shovelled out $88-million in mortgages in 2020, according to the whistleblower, and over $50-million in 2021. […]

The Bureau’s seven-month investigation into D.M.’s allegations suggests HSBC Canada and other Canadian banks could have issued many billions of dollars in questionable mortgages to Chinese diaspora buyers, and a significant cause of Canada’s real estate bubble is hundreds of billions in illicit fund transfers from China into Canada, and bank lending that amplifies its impacts, especially in Toronto and Vancouver home prices.

“There are thousands of these cases, large scale,” D.M. said in an interview. “Hardworking Canadians are denied mortgages and these Chinese residents forge documents and get mortgages approved, heating up the already hot Ontario real estate markets.”

In the world of Canadian government contracting, there’s a rule that’s supposed to symbolize transparency and accountability: every contract over $10,000 must be publicly disclosed, its details available for every Canadian to scrutinize online. This rule is more than a mere procedure; it’s a commitment to open governance, a pledge that taxpayer money is being spent wisely and fairly.

But, as we peel back the layers, a different picture emerges, one mired in negligence and possible corruption. A review of 41 contracts tied to the ArriveCAN app reveals a disturbing trend. In 17 cases, critical information about the contracts or substantial amendments – each well over the $10,000 threshold – were conspicuously absent from the public record.

The saga deepens when we look at a specific $25 million contract awarded to GC Strategies Inc. The details of this contract, the manner in which it was awarded, send up a forest of red flags. The criteria were so narrowly defined, so peculiarly tailored, that they seemed to have been written with GC Strategies in mind. Their past experience with the Government of Canada mirrored the requirements almost exactly, a coincidence that stretches the bounds of belief. Unsurprisingly, GC Strategies stood unchallenged in the bidding process.

After multiple instances of being asked to defend its funding of UNRWA, the Trudeau government finally cut funding last week following a report alleging that up to a dozen of its employees were direct participants in the Oct. 7 massacres. And even then, International Development Minister Ahmed Hussen was careful to stress that the suspension was temporary.

It’s far from the first time that UNRWA has faced accusations of terror links. It’s for this precise reason, in fact, that the government of Stephen Harper cut funding to the agency in 2010.

When Prime Minister Justin Trudeau fully restored UNRWA funding in 2016, the agency had not undergone any audits or reforms to address these claims. In fact, it was emerging from a series of public scandals in which UNRWA facilities had been used to store Hamas rockets, and UNRWA staff members had been found publicly encouraging violence against Jews.

But Trudeau blamed the Conservatives for cutting off the agency’s funding for “political reasons.” “Quite frankly, Canadians expect us to be helpful in the world,” Trudeau told the House of Commons upon the restoration of UNRWA funding.

It appears the Justin Trudeau hasn’t actually frozen any funding for UNRWA.

It appears they already transferred the payment, which isn’t due until the spring.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada’s national police force, then promoted this false information to other “Five Eyes” English-speaking nations.

It has been nearly two years since Jerry Morin, Chris Carbert, Chris Lysak, and Tony Olienick were arrested in relation to their participation at the Coutts, Alberta Freedom Convoy protest site. They have been denied bail, and their trial is not set to begin until May 2024, a full 27 months after their arrests.

They’re not being kept in the Ritz. As Mark Steyn likes to say the process is the punishment.

So here is my update since December 5 when I was transferred from Medicine Hat remand to Calgary Remand, upon arrival they humiliate us by strip searching us and then body scan us with some machine you stand on as it traverses back and forth pumping you with radiation waves even though they say its “perfectly” normal (add eye rolling emoji) from there I was sent to unit 7 which is an intake unit for guys right off the street, its a very dirty unit and thankfully the inmate had cleaned the dried puke off my bunk with his socks right before I arrived to be his cell mate. He had then threw the socks into the toilet and tried flushing them and they plugged the toilet. So we had no working toilet until the next day when thankfully staff came and fixed the problem.
