A top adviser at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) deleted records critical to uncovering the origins of COVID-19 — and used a “secret back channel” to help Dr. Anthony Fauci and a federal grantee that funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China, evade transparency.

NIH senior adviser Dr. David Morens improperly conducted official government business from his private email account and solicited help from the NIH’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) office to dodge records requests, according to emails revealed in a memo by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which The Post obtained Wednesday.

“[I] learned from our foia [sic] lady here how to make emails disappear after I am foia’d [sic] but before the search starts,” Morens wrote in a Feb. 24, 2021, email. “Plus I deleted most of those earlier emails after sending them to gmail [sic].”

“I ask you both that NOTHING gets sent to me except to my gmail [sic],” he emphasized again in a Nov. 18, 2021, email to EcoHealth Alliance president Dr. Peter Daszak, whose organization was suspended this month from receiving federal funds for the next three years and who was himself proposed for debarment on Wednesday.

That there was a cover-up at NIH/NIAID is now well established. Top officials used private email addresses and perhaps burner phones to conduct official government business and to delete communications about COVD-19 origins in order to defeat FOIA requests — all of this is stated in their own words.

The huge question that this raises is — Why the cover-up?

UCLA medical school’s mandatory health equity class teaches students that weight loss is a “hopeless endeavor” and that “ob*sity” is a slur “used to exact violence on fat people.”

The full syllabus has shocked prominent doctors — the former dean of Harvard Medical School.

All first year students are assigned an essay by Marquisele Mercedes, a self-described “fat liberationist,” who “describes how weight came to be pathologized and medicalized in racialized terms” and offers guidance on “resisting entrenched fat oppression,” per the syllabus.

Mercedes claims that “ob*sity” is a slur “used to exact violence on fat people”— particularly “Black, disabled, trans, poor fat people”—and offers a “fat ode to care” that students are instructed to analyze, taking note of which sections “most resonate with you.”

The assignment shocked Jeffrey Flier, the former dean of Harvard Medical School and one of the world’s foremost experts on obesity, who said the curriculum “promotes extensive and dangerous misinformation.”

UCLA “has centered this required course on a socialist/Marxist ideology that is totally inappropriate,” said @jflier, who reviewed the full syllabus and several of the assigned readings. “As a longstanding medical educator, I found this course truly shocking.”

A B.C. doctor has captured the world’s attention by likely being the first physician to diagnose a patient with “climate change.”

Nelson-based Dr. Kyle Merritt gave the controversial diagnosis over the summer, saying the symptoms a patient in her 70s was seeing all tied back to one thing.

Those effects included heatstroke, dehydration and breathing issues. As he treated the patient, he started thinking about underlying issues. He ultimately diagnosed her with climate change.

Adult transgender clinics in England are facing a Cass-style inquiry into how they treat patients after whistleblowers raised concerns about the care they provide.

NHS England has announced that it is setting up a review of how the seven specialist services operate and deliver care after past and present staff shared misgivings privately during a previous investigation.

As a first step, NHS England will send “external quality improvement experts” into each of the clinics to gather evidence about how they care for patients, to help guide the inquiry’s direction.

The move follows the publication on Wednesday of a landmark review by Dr Hilary Cass, a former president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, which recommended sweeping changes in the way that the health service treats under-18s who are unsure about their gender identity.

The latest sexual orientation to be recognized by the Canadian Medical Association Journal is ‘greysexuality,’ a relatively new subset of asexuality.

Originally published on Dec. 4, the paper featured in Canada’s top medical journal discussed greysexuality as defined as someone who is “experiencing sexual attraction rarely or under specific circumstances.”

Demisexual and greysexual people can still “engage in sex and experience romantic attraction,” according to the article, which was co-authored by Stella A. Schneckenburger, Michelle W.Y. Tam and Lori E. Ross

The term was part of an article on asexuality, which is an umbrella term for those who only form a sexual attraction to someone after their emotional needs are met or for those who are greysexual.
