The CEO and president of Snopes, the website that advertises itself as “the internet’s definitive fact-checking resource” is facing major heat after admitting to plagiarizing dozens of articles.

A BuzzFeed News investigation found that David Mikkelson was involved in a major plagiarizing scandal that encompassed a whopping 54 pieces, Business Insider reports.

“Plagiarism undermines our missions and values, full stop,” Snopes executives said in a statement. “It has no place in any context within this organization.”

Dear Apple Customer Service,

I have a story to share with you, which I’m going to put in the form of a DIY exercise:

  1. Schedule an appointment at one of your stores a few days from now.
  2. On the day of the appointment, imagine you’re rushing around and you get in an accident, your pet elephant gets sick (don’t judge), you get hit by an asteroid, or something else untoward happens.
  3. While driving, out of respect, you call up the Apple store in question to let them know you can’t make the appointment.
  4. You will be greeted by an automated assistant.  “He” will offer to send you a text message with a link in it to cancel the appointment.  That link is useless unless Apple is now encouraging texting & driving.  Even if you can pull over and access it. you will be prompted for your Apple Id.  Unless you have it tattooed on your arm, you probably don’t know it, let alone your password.
  5. So you hang up and try again.  You repeatedly scream “Operator” into the phone but get taken down a series of rabbit holes never to be allowed to speak to … wait for it … a human being.
  6. So you give up.

Your customer service approach is broken, atrocious, and dysfunctional.  Customers spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars with your company, yet this is the disrespectful, brain-dead way you treat them.

What to do when all of your murderous enemies gather in one place?

Israel shared intelligence with the US showing how Hamas operated inside the same building with the Associated Press and Al-Jazeera in Gaza, officials in Jerusalem said on Sunday.

Officials in more than one government office confirmed that US President Joe Biden’s phone call to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday was, in part, about the bombing of the building, and that Israel showed Biden and American officials the intelligence behind the action.

“We showed them the smoking gun proving Hamas worked out of that building,” a source close to Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said. “I understand they found the explanation satisfactory.”.

They’re shocked! Shocked, I tell you! What if I told you that a former @AP journalist (@MattiFriedman) had written IN 2014 that Hamas regularly operated in and around the AP office in Gaza?

This past month I went on vacation and drove across America: 2 weeks actual holiday time and then one week working remotely in each of Northern Florida and Metro Houston, Texas. I visited 21 states, spoke personally to dozens of people every day, and got an on-the-ground appreciation for how Americans were coping with Covid-19 and also a strong sense for how things were politically in each area I visited.  I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts on what I learned.

  • The Trump-Pence signs outnumbered the Biden-Harris signs by at least 10 to 1.
  • In several places there were individual vehicles or caravans of vehicles adorned with Trump 2020 flags.  Never once was there such cheering for Biden.
  • This election is not about Trump vs. Biden.  It’s Trump vs. Not Trump.  If the Democrats were running a coat rack as their presidential candidate, it would make no difference.
  • From what I saw, I simply don’t believe the polls.  Florida and Texas are up for grabs by the Democrats?  I don’t believe it.
  • The challenges for Trump this election are enormous.  Not only is he battling the Democrats, the Woke Left, and their Antifa street thugs, but it seems clear that the Deep State police & spy agencies of America have turned against him and the democratic will of the American people.  It will be fascinating to see if he can defeat these monstrous (and illegal) forces.

Who knows what will transpire today and in the coming weeks but here are some predictions depending on the outcome:

  1. If Biden wins with a small or large margin, there will be no violence.
  2. If Trump wins with a large majority, there will be violence in the “usual places” but ultimately there will be acceptance by the vast majority of Americans.
  3. If Trump wins with a narrow margin, the blue cities of the U.S. will go up in flames.

If Biden is declared President, here are some predictions about 2021:

  • The Department of Defense will surreptitiously be turned into the Department of Offense and one or more wars will be concocted by the Democrats/Media/Deep State.
  • The Woke Left will get an injection of power and money unlike we’ve never seen before.
  • Free Speech, already tamped down to a great degree, will almost disappear.
  • An institutionalized racial divide will occur stronger than ever before.
  • Covid-19 will be used to quarantine and forcibly unemploy many millions of people, making them dependent on the state.
  • China will be officially welcomed again and U.S. manufacturers and energy producers deliberately harmed.
  • Biden will last no more than 12 months as President before he is forced to resign.

Barbara Kay has resigned from her National Post column, citing “severe pressures” editors face on sensitive issues and the “public shaming of Rex Murphy.”

It’s been two decades since my first byline appeared in the Post. For a woman who already was well into middle age when her career began, the experience has been a thrill and a privilege. Perhaps more importantly, it’s been lively, energizing and fun. The National Post was conceived in 1998 as a safe haven from the stale pieties that dominated (and still dominate) the legacy Canadian media. Unfortunately, the spirit now has gone out of the place. And I’ve decided to step away from my regular column, at least for now. I’ve been noticing for a while that much of the best writing about Canada is increasingly taking place on platforms that didn’t exist until recently (and in some cases aren’t even Canadian). Numerous international writers whom I admire have decided to find new ways to reach their audience. I will now join their ranks.

It has long been a mystery who the trolls, be they on SDA or another conservative website, actually are. What do they look like? Why do they have the Daddy issues, they do? Why are they impervious to any semblance of logic and common sense?

Over in England, Sargon of Akkad, has obtained video evidence of one. The next time a troll pops up here on SDA, now you will have a clear image in your head of what he looks like. 🙂
