There was a large slot car track in my city when I was a young teen…..one of the set ups was an 8 lane thing and it it was always fun to watch the standard slot cars that you could buy ready to run and those that had the motors rewound and epoxied so the wire wouldn’t essentially explode out of them. Those things went like rockets….could easily go around the track three times before the standard ones went around once. Wasn’t unusual to get 100,000 rpm out of them. Had to put goopy stuff on the tires to keep them on the track. Great sport….lots of fun. We had a 4 hour endurance race one time with two drivers per car….got pretty damned competitive.

    I have often wondered if they will ever make a comeback.

    1. In the 1960’s into 70’s we had a BIG Toy store/Hobby shop in the middle of town … long before Toys R Us or Amazon. Because we Baby Boomer kids were cash cows for toy stores. This store was so big, they set up a slot car track … and they used to have model car building contests too. One of my friends in Jr. Hi … Phil … lived on this old piece of large ‘farm’ property that was saved from the subdividing. Had to be at least two acres in the middle of town … with a historic farmhouse and big barn building. We were hella jealous, because Phil got to live in the upstairs of the barn … on his own (essentially). His room was huge, and was essentially his workshop where he had become an amazing model-maker. He never built anything according to the directions … he super customized everything. He would chop-down or lengthen bodies … mix and match parts. Everything had big slicks on the rear, with custom flared fenders. He was a master painter too.

      Phil won every model contest the store ever hosted. And he modded-up his slot cars too. I remember they all had these super soft open cell foam tires that gripped the track … cause good luck with anything else. And the tires were really low profile because they were so spongy and would fold over if they were too thick. I was an ‘average’ model maker … but was a poor kid who didn’t have enough bucks to buy the slick slot cars … and was lucky if I had ONE model car to build for the contest. I don’t know what Phil went on to do in life … but he should have been a car designer for GM.

    1. And if you still don’t manage to fill out their form correctly DUE TO THEIR SCREWUP, they’ll still fine you anyway. The IRS did this to me. Don’t bother appealing either, identifying their screw up with the help of a well written letter from your accountant, “WE NOT WRONG. YOU STILL PAY.”

      2. I will say that she does indeed come across as honest and decent, and sensible and good hearted, and well spoken, and she’s got a very nice face. At this remove I fear I cannot properly appreciate that atomic young body, which I suspect must be devastating on all around it.

    This has to do with Trudeau’s WE Charity sleaze, when the Parliamentary ethics officer (lapdog?) exonerated Trudeau of any wrongdoing. A clause in the Parliamentary Officer Act prevented any judicial review ruling — and the Supreme Court ruled that all government rulings are subject to judicial review.

    1. My wife retired a couple years ago … and her replacement was a 20-something cow with a bull nose ring … and dubious sex-identity. We have completely LOST our children. Thankfully, I’ll be dead by the time they become adults.

    A 15-year-old youngster — one Raheid Martin of Hamilton, ON — euthanized two other teens with his handgun, a late night disagreement apparently. The police got a judicial ruling allowing the police to give out his name, extraordinarily enough, given that the child is still on the loose and public helps might be needed. Something to do with public safety apparently.
