Anti-trade extremists.

Trade is the life-blood of any nation, state, town or shopkeeper. Being against free and fair trade is anathema to a healthy economy. That damned freak with the hair did it again, sabotaging opportunities for markets.
What? Oh. Well, who do you think I’m talking about?
Ironic that one of the reasons being shopped around is because of Quebec politics, cough, Bombardier.

I’m a little torn about this story.

While conducting a welfare check, police found Macke’s four children – two 12-year-olds, a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old — alone.
Police discovered that Macke left the U.S. a day earlier and wasn’t set to return until Oct. 1, the Register reported. She did not arrange any supervision for the children, authorities said.

On one hand I firmly believe that two twelve-year old kids should be more than capable of taking care of themselves and two younger children for a week.
On the other hand is the qualification in the previous sentence, should be.
On the gripping hand is the unstated question…how in the heck did a welfare case with four children get the money to go to Europe for a week?

Umm, Okay.

The award, created in 1989, is given to a public official or group of public servants from any level of government each year “whose actions demonstrate the qualities of politically courageous leadership in the spirit of ‘Profiles in Courage,'”
Sure, if causing the Democratic Party to get destroyed at every elected level is courageous, and then to have President Trump and the Congress roll-back every single plank of your supposed legacy qualifies as ‘courage’.
At least the Americans waited until he’d done something to give him an award, unlike the Norwegians.

Why?

I don’t understand the reasoning for this. 25% of “qualified labour expenditure” (whatever that means) seems a little profligate.

The decision is likely to resonate the most in Joly’s province of Quebec, and her hometown of Montreal, where the tax credit could benefit several popular French-language talk shows produced by independent production companies.

Oh, nevermind. Spending money in Quebec is reason enough for the Liberals.

They’re not doing their part, or so we’ve been told.

So just how much money has flowed out of Alberta to Ottawa? A lot. Between 2000 and 2014, on a net basis, Alberta’s individual and corporate taxpayers shipped an estimated $200 billion-plus to the federal government. That’s what left the province, less what the feds reinvested here.
