Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
I very much look forward to this. It’s the next best thing to my first hope, which is a complete (NO exceptions) 30 day closure of the US-Canada border.
It won’t quite have the same impact as taking away the food and gasoline from the “Elbows Up!” morons, but it will at least take away their Netflix.
FAFO, losers.
Sad to think that a majority of Canadians are that completely batshit crazy to think they can kick sand in the face of their largest trading partner without some form of repercussion . Hope the elbows up crowd enjoy the decline .
I think you’re mistaking ankles for elbows.
Good one!
DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH
“You can almost bet that the streaming services will stop operating in QC before committing 15% of their revenue to French language content”
What about the languages of indigenous tribes? Southeast Asia and Chinese? Does that mean BC is next because the needs of their diverse population are not being met?
I thought we covered this topic in Rock music … 50 years ago?

I got elastic bands keepin’ my shoes on
Got those swollen hand blues
I got thirteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from
I’ve got electric light
And I’ve got second sight
I got amazing powers of observation
“What’s on television?”
“Rien que de la merde.”
They will pay to stay.
He did cave. He is pretty good at weaseling out of admitting that he caved.
“Carney responded that it was the Americans who failed to put in place restrictions on the French language and Canadian culture.”
He is claiming that because the Americans failed to do what they intended, he did not need the digital services tax? While a pretty good weasel answer, anyone familiar with the timeline would know it’s a lie, the tax came long before the trade negotiations. Also, anyone familiar with the trade negotiations would know that nobody is aware of any restrictions proposed by the Americans, Carney claimed they existed without any evidence, and never provided any detail about the claimed restrictions.
He is such a weasel.
Elbozos eat it all up anyway.
We subscribe to Acorn and Britbox so that we can watch British/Australian/NZ TV shows. If Britbox and Acorn have to produce Canadian content, doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose of subscribing to them? Or is that sort of logic beyond the grasp of these Canadian culture warriors?
Therein lies the irony.
These people have become rabid patriots – like some Germans in the thirties – and yet for decades they have shat on American patriotic displays within their anti-American agit-prop
And Canadians who dare to show the ol Dominion flag are flagged by CSIS as extremists.
We’re living in Oceania.

^^^^
THIS.
Exactly this. Justin Trudeau with his “Canada is the first post-national state” may have been the culmination of it, but as you say the Liberal/NDP have been disparaging the Americans and sneering at their patriotism for decades. But *now* patriotism is somehow cool again? Because Trump?
Well said.
Same problem History Television had when it launched 25 years ago. The CanCon requirements meant they were stuck mostly airing WWII documentaries (hence “History Television, the all-N*zi channel”).
L – If it is the truth that sets you free. Then the corollary is: it is ignorance that enslaves you.
When the government becomes your source and arbiter of what is truth… postmodernism has replaced the “free and democratic society”. Canada has become what our ancestors fought, bled and died to save us from.
When the Trudeau/Carney/Freeland Liberal government froze dissident citizen’s bank accounts. It shocked many around the world. Canada is the Petri dish experiment for globalism. Only, the Freedom Convoy had served the role of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. Nothing has changed…
Now, only provincial Independence has the potential to re-establish the nation-state concept; whereby the gov’t., to be legitimate, serves the people and recognizes their inherent Natural Rights(Whereas, Canada recognizes the supremacy of God and the rule of law.) Alberta and Saskatchewan Independent would gradually serve as the model for others to follow or not.
To leave a life of slavery/serfdom, for the adventure of a self-governing people, is a quest so old. It has a biblical reference. It is an archetype. Mark Carney plays the role of the Pharaoh.
Tough Love is the only true love. Agape is the charitable love, true patriotic love involves sacrifice, always has, always will be the bulwark , the defence of Liberty.

“Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
a) Freedom of conscience and religion;
b) Freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression: including freedom of the press and other media of communication; …”
Larry, thank you for the “agape charitable love” remark. It helps my Bible study assignment for this Friday.
I just wish Quebec would separate and it alone could join the EU. Would be fun to watch how badly they would economically crash without billions annually from equalization and also tied to the EU crumbling economy.
I once said to my (former) French Canadian sister in law that if Quebec actually wanted to separate they should let us all vote. She got all hurt and said, “You don’t love us!”
“I once said to my (former) French Canadian sister in law that if Quebec actually wanted to separate they should let us all vote.”
If only one Canadian politician had the balls to say so at the time…
“She got all hurt and said, “You don’t love us!””
Just as much as you love us.
Kaybeck has no intention of separating. They know damn well they couldn’t exist w/o Alberta’s transfer payments. It’s all about leverage w/ the Feds.
Seems they, Quebec, is seeking greater autonomy (within canaduh of course) because Tinkerbell Corney has that associated agreement with EU.
My God, it never ends
Maritime provinces join the chat (and they vote Liberal, not Bloc)
Shiver me timbers, me hearties!
I be puttin the black spot on cable and streaming services for well over a decade now!
There’s a wee little bay that’s a grand port in any storm.
Explain the concept of cause and effect to a liberal.
In French.
I’ll wait.
I remember the Time Before Streaming. It was fine. We got along.
If the federal government sees fit to drive all the streaming services out of the country, I’m good with that. I still have all my old DVDs, CDs, LPs etc. I can still play them. I don’t really care all that much if the #Lieberals shut down the whole freaking deal.
But the Normies? They are going to care. And they will take out their vengeance on the #Lieberals if #Netflix and #Prime etc. are interrupted for even a millisecond.
It will be GLORIOUS!!!! Bring it on, #Lieberals. I dares ya.
True, but that was before TV sucked. I’m currently rewatching Babylon 5 and The Rockford Files. And because they’re old, and owned, streaming lets me enjoy quality entertainment from before the world of woke.
(Local stores didn’t have the dvds and I’d rather support a streamer than Amazon to buy.)
“I’m currently rewatching Babylon 5 and The Rockford Files.”
Good shows, both of them.
Babylon 5 was particularly good because it was written completely by one person, so the story lines were excellent.
I’m going to be honest, I always found the writing in B5 to be mediocre at best (I can forgive the poor acting and SFX, as that’s all budget constraint). Prior to B5, JMS and Larry DiTillio’s only writing credits were children’s adventure TV, and it shows.
“True, but that was before TV sucked.”
I haven’t had broadcast television or cable in the house since about 2008. It’s a disgrace, and has been for an entire generation. One of the last TV shows I recall looking forward to during the week was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and that’s been off the air since 2003. (But I can’t re-watch it. Just can’t do it.)
Used to be I would read at night. But of course the retards did to books the same thing they did to television, so these days I write instead. At least the story goes the way I want, right?
Carney is such an incompetent asshole but not as incompetent and stupid as the people who support him.
I feel marginally better.
The cost of bread is already through the roof. I don’t think messing with the circuses too is going to end well for the Liberals.
Five bucks a loaf or more. Holy cr@p.
I remember being outraged when it hit a dollar. That was a long freaking time ago, and my outrage is tired now.
So every film and television show listed here:
https://statistique.quebec.ca/en/document/credit-impot-remboursable-services-production-cinematographique-televisuelle/tableau/list-of-film-and-television-productions-that-benefited-from-the-refundable-tax-credit-for-production-services-program-cumulative-data-quebec#de_temps_refrn=1999-2000%20%C3%A0%202024-2025
Qualifies as CanCon for the purposes of the 15%?
