Anti-trade extremists.

Trade is the life-blood of any nation, state, town or shopkeeper. Being against free and fair trade is anathema to a healthy economy. That damned freak with the hair did it again, sabotaging opportunities for markets.
What? Oh. Well, who do you think I’m talking about?
Ironic that one of the reasons being shopped around is because of Quebec politics, cough, Bombardier.

  1. The Aussie’s thought Canada would allow PM Socks to attend a real meeting with real consquences, cricky!

  2. Seems pretty low class to have leaders from all those countries show up for a meeting and then just bail at the last minute. (How may wasted tons of CO2 were emitted for this cancelled meeting)

  3. Bongo musta got a call from his handlers.
Canada’s trade minister Franois-Philippe Champagne had agreed to the deal so something happened on the way to the meeting.
The disaster that is bongo continues on in real time. Maybe he should just get back to Ottawa and go to the Nov.11 celebrations and abandon any more embarrassment on the international stage.

  4. PM Socks sucking hind teet on a boar hog…
Too lazy to get off the nipple long enough to attend a meeting.
A walking, talking, irresponsible PR campaign for disaster.
He should just stay in Ho Chi Minh city, maybe Hanoi Jane will show up!
The two commies could exchange notes…

  5. Quebec has no issues trading with Third World dictatorships like Saudi Arabia, it only has a problem trading with the welfare Equalization providers like Alberta.

  6. Very strange way to negotiate international trade deals. But Trudeau has always been very lukewarm toward the TPP; could it be because it was successfully negotiated by PM Harpers’s team? Is Jr really that shallow? I think it likely.
Putting odd clauses in re gender rights, whatever at this stage suggests he really wants these talks to fail. I see disturbing signs, trial balloons that what he really wants is a free trade deal with China. He has made absurd stances on the NAFTA negotiations, as if he is resigned that these talks will fail, and President Trump also seems similarly inclined.
A failed US trade deal and no TPP deal, could set the stage for momentum on a Canada-China deal. That Canada should favour trade with a communist, authoritarian regime with zero regard for gender rights, even basic human rights let alone environmental rules seems preposterous on the face of it, but given his admiration of the Chinese regime it is possible.
Someone should be asking Liberals just what their Int trade policy is, or if they even have one.

What better way for the Shiny Unicorn to celebrate 100 years of communism by completely selling this country out to China?

  8. I can’t write worth a hoot this morning. My comment should have read:
What better way for the Shiny Unicorn to celebrate 100 years of communism than by completely selling this country out to China?

  9. without the US taking part in the negotiation Canada was alone on many issues – they should have declined to even be involved once the US dropped out, but for ideological reasons (knee-jerk anti-americanism) they put themselves in a box that now focres them to take a cowards way out and damages Canada’s reputation as a responsible bargainer.

  10. Having an empty chair at this meeting is at least emblematic of Canada’s current leadership. Empty chair, empty suit, as Ms Clinton would say, at this point what difference does it make. Perhaps Butts neglected to inform the Spawn of his schedule or the content of his nasal sleep inspiring platitudes of the day. Glad-handing the teenage female greeters is something for which he is better suited. Canadians don’t actually know who is in charge or what our policies are. We just know that the Spawn holds the office of PM and his caucus has the requisite progressive identity balance. That’s more than enough for the MSM, the mindless mushy middle and soft-left Canadian electorate responsible.

  11. Screw the TPP. We should only have free trade with countries that share our labour standards and have a developed and uncorrupted business jurisprudence.

  12. The only positive is that Socks is making himself look bad. the idiot voters down east will be forced to take notice. Maybe there is a silver lining in his stupidity?

  13. So, he didn’t have the stones to show up and defend his decision, wasting the time of other Country’s leaders. Another indicator he doesn’t have the goods upstairs. I’m sure in the future they will treat Canada with the respect JT deserves.
After Suzuki embarrassed Canada by exposing his glaring scientific ignorance a few years ago I imagine the Aussies don’t think much of us as a Nation.
    Hard to argue with them.

  14. He went sulking, because he found out that the world’s leaders weren’t interested in including legislation on the treatment of Transgender Chlamydia in the trade talks

  15. – Yes but he was out taking a selfie!
These foreigners are so inconsiderate – don’t they understand?

  16. As the LPC brand Mascot, Zoolander’s job is largely ceremonial. He isn’t doing his job if he doesn’t show up for the ceremonies.

  18. some daz the dumb all most hurts. Complete isolation of first world nations is plain stupid, got that scar. Just as stupid as the Turds behavior, which emulates obungles’ stupidity

  19. While Jr can lead 161 Canadians to a Bonn meeting on climate change which can have no positive economics benefits whatever, he cannot be bothered to even show up for a trade negotiating meeting. Trade matters and nothing benefited Canada more in cost/benefit analysis than the 2 trade agreements negotiated with US and Mexico by Conservative PMs.
Looking back 45 years, Trudeau Sr. toyed with the idea of a 3rd option or something like that to divert trade away from US toward Europe. Anything to thumb his nose at the Americans. It took years of positive GDP helped by NAFTA to balance a budget decimated by years of Liberal neglect. Brian Mulroney and John Turner fought an election over free trade and to Canada’s great advantage Mulroney won. Jr has zero interest in economics, but even he should realize managed trade is utmost in Canada’s priorities; climate change gab fests not important at all.

  20. The wailing and gnashing of teeth about this recent faux pas by Li’l Tater Head is amusing to say the least. Here is a leader of a nation of 35 million people holding up a trade deal that involves nations of a totality of what? a billion a billion and a half people. Give your heads a shake, this guy is so out of his depth he couldn’t take the cap off of the pen to sign a document. Canada under this present leadership is not in a position to take a leading stand on any international trade or political deals. The past performances of the Liberal Parties that have governed Canada have been nothing but a sell-out of Canada, it is only now that it is becoming abundantly clear to the LIV’s in Canada that they have been had. No doubt Chretien will be calling the pup home shortly to explain why Uncle Maurice’s plan has been deep sixed. Could it be that America has something to do with the absence.

  21. Did bongo throw a fit? Didn’t show for a meeting his guy arranged?
There is damage control going on here by the libranos. Something went down.

  22. Added to the list of
“Ready right now to do those things that Stephen Harper won’t do”
Like go AWOL for an APEC trade meeting.

  23. Absolutely! You want globalism ? Then ensure a level playing field … in all ways, in all locales. Or is globalism really ONLY all about third world substandard wage slaves and their billionaire masters ? Western civilization is being sold down the Mekong river by our elected officials … WAKE UP Westerners! Wake UP!

  24. “Ensure a level playing field” who came up with that idea? A level playing field, you’ve got to be kidding if you think that a level playing field is going to make a difference. Lets make a level playing field in North America, and which game are we going to play on it American football, Canadian football, or Mexican soccer. That’s about how far a level playing field is going to go in international trade. Canada has been playing on a level playing field for years with America and we still don’t get it, they’re playing baseball and we’re playing lacrosse. How does one country impose restrictions on another country except by taxes to their own people, or sanctions. When you start talking taxes or sanctions somebody is getting paid off or screwed. Hell we can’t even get a level playing field between the provinces in Canada never mind agreeing internationally. Level playing field, right!

  25. And I’ve often wondered why so much of America’s manufacturing has been outsourced to Canada ? Is it because there are slack environmental and employee regulations? Does Canada have more workers who will do the jobs that Americans just won’t do? Or is it just because of the puny Canadian dollar and a favorable exchange rate?
And of course there will NEVER be a level playing field … so we are going to need Federal Regulations to PUNISH American corporations who SCREW American citizens to boost their stock price. Yeah, and if corporations were not so willing to exploit cheap labor … there would be no need for more bothersome regulations.

  27. So t his trade deal required sign off by the 11 nations’ leaders. Maybe Justine did not realize that meant him. I am not particularly worried about the deal not going forward — I don’t know what was in it, but I think this is pretty embarrassing:

Now Libs are making a mess of things on the international front.

  28. So if he didn’t go to the meeting why did we bother to send him there? Was he looking for a new hair dresser? Maybe some new socks? Maybe he thought was going to some rich muslim’s holiday island and when he found out different decided to have a day of pout? Maybe he heard that there was a mass wedding that needed photo bombing only to find out that happens in Korea and Vietnam. (all those people look the same to him and he gets so confused) Maybe he took the time to find a new selfie stick. Maybe he found some really good ‘tea’ and he spent so much time running around naked they couldn’t get him to the meeting on time. Maybe he took a clue from the last meeting and realized no one wants a half wit there anyways. Alas we will never know. PM shiny selfie socks was not at the meeting for the press to question.

  29. “And I’ve often wondered why so much of America’s manufacturing has been outsourced to Canada”
I’m not sure that it is. In 2016 with $544 billion in 2 way trade the US had a trade deficit of only $12 billion. The US imports about $60 billion of oil alone from Canada so I suspect in manufactured goods the US has a big surplus. Take away NAFTA and there are serious problems on both sides of the border as manufacturing in the two countries is truly integrated with goods crossing the border as many as 6 times during the manufacturing process.

  30. Actually I think that this no-show at the TPP talks and signing is part of the long range Liberal plan of deindustrialization of Canada that eco-terrorists and Maurice Strong dreamed about. It is working well in Ontario.

  31. Trudeau lost his shoe and the nannies couldn’t find it for him.
They had to put him down for a nap after he got upset about it.

  32. Something untoward took place today but Canadian’s will probably never know because the press corp is completely unreliable and complicit in the cover up.

  33. Interesting and weird, but I don’t even like the TPP very much. A deal with China would be simpler and better.
Note: all free trade is fair trade, and the best trade position is UNILATERAL FREE TRADE.

  34. And if anyone caught the nightly propaganda, er, CTV “news”, nary a mention of Selfie Socks skipping out. Disgusting subterfuge by the bought and paid for Mediots

  35. Here’s the important point.
Everyone in that meeting came away with an opinion on Trudeau and it’s likely not a favourable one.
    All those people talk.
All those people are at the executive level.
All are members of the U.N. and lobby for positions on UN committee’s.
If the collective opinion amongst those at that meeting is that Trudeau can’t be trusted this will be reflected in future dealings with other world players.
Say if he pledges Canada for a peace keeping mission and everybody else instead of jumping on board says “good luck with that” or if it’s to join an existing mission sticks Canadian troops in the messiest part.
Not saying this will be the outcome, but if Juthtin makes a habit of going on these junkets to take selfies with school girls then goes awol for the meeting that was the whole reason for having the junket, at the very least he will be politely ignored or at worst be seen as a bad faith actor.
    I’ll close with this comment.
PMSH would never have made this mistake.
