So we have another Premier running against Donald Trump. I am just wondering what he will do differently that he couldn’t have done in the last 18 months or if he continued to govern ? Will anyone ask? Will it matter? He will probably win.

Set terms and election cycles are one of many things the Yanks do better than us, which is of course why we’ll never have those set cycles implemented here.
But I really always liked the backup singers … as the backing track had a real texture to the voices … and the guitar work seemed a cut above.
Yes, the two prominent backing vocals are Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham who played guitar and produced the song. The song was written about Egan’s obsession over Nicks. Yeah, those are just mimes “singing” in “official video”.

The above link show the value of the Canadian dollar, relative to the US dollar. I mentioned three or four days ago that the Canadian value of the dollar would continue fall. This is because U.S. daily interest rates are 3.8% are set to rise further, given that the Fed raised its bank rate days ago. Canadian daily interest rates are 2.2% are sill a fixed at that rate. I said previously that I am switching a part of my savings to an U.S. ultra short Treasury Bill ETF. Not only does one get higher interest payments, one receives a capital gain as the Canadian dollar continues to decline. Yesterday I moved more money from my Canadian HISA to the U.S. money ETF.
The point here is that our Canadian media blob has not run stories about the steady decline in our dollar. The blob is still cheering on Carney’s Elbows Up campaign. A decline in our dollar feeds inflation. This is particularly true for food inflation, where our country imports much of our food. The Bank of Canada will soon hike its bank rate to 2.5%, and this will hike daily interest rates on credit cards and revolving credit. This hits low income families. But the corporate media ignores all of this.
I’m old enough to remember the Canadian dollar being worth $0.64 US. The Canadian dollar regularly fluctuates between $0.70 and $0.85 USD. The last time the Canadian and US dollars were at about parity was when the Conservatives.
Of course we import most of our food; our best agricultural land (at least in BC) is needed to build more important things like condos and strip malls on.
Granted that he skips breakfast so it’s only 2 meals a day for the $10 USD per diem, but what shocked me was just how cheap the groceries were in Austin, even accounting for exchange. Two limes for 48 cents? They’re usually a buck each where I live. Half-pound blocks of mozzarella for $1.69? At least $6 here. And the tray of chicken breasts for under $9? That would be at least $20 here.
And he mentions about how much more expensive things are now compared to a few years ago, whereas I’m thinking it’s been over 10 years since I’ve seen prices as cheap here as what he paid there last month.

Sure, I hear people complaining about the cost of groceries here, but most people seem to think it’s even worse in America… we’re getting to the point of North Koreans being told there’s a famine in America and that North Koreans had it good. Except I don’t know that the NK’s actually believe that propaganda, whereas Canadians mostly seem to think they actually are better off than our Yankee neighbors.
