Temporary Cease Fire vs Permanent Peace

The Duran- PUTIN; U.S. must address root causes

Francisco- A lot of people have very strong opinions and feelings about what’s going on here. Which is quite understandable. Having said that, I would ask that you discuss the topic like adults in the comments section. If I have to come back here and babysit the thread there will be a heavy and somewhat indiscriminate hand on the delete button, so fair warning.

Take any position you like, disagree with any position you wish to disagree with but lets keep our emotions on a tight leash.

Correlation Is Not Causation

Rebel Capitalist podcaster George Gammon explores the logic behind the argument that Trump’s tariffs have caused a recession. While Gammon admits that tariffs have a negative economic impact, he argues that the tariffs could not have caused the recession that we appear to be entering. By looking at interest rate cutting cycles over several decades, he arrives at a very different conclusion from the mainstream narrative.

Gammon’s basic reasoning is as follows: “…[interest] rates are coming down but this doesn’t tell us that the economy is doing well. It tells us that the economy is really struggling and I want to point out they started cutting rates in September of 2024. This is way way way before Donald Trump was elected…”

“Bank lending decreasing…in other words, the low interest rates, are a reflection of a contracting economy…”

If It Wasn’t For Fake “Orders in Council”

Would there be any orders in council at all?

Guy W. Giorno- Whatever this is, it is not an Order in Council. An OiC is made by the GG on advice of Cabinet, not an “I hereby instruct” directive signed by the Prime Minister.

Mike Campbell- Order in Council are signed by the Governor General under the advice of PM and cabinet. Note: Carbon tax law can only be appealed by Parliament – so it is still on the books – but terms can be changed – so PM Carney didn’t repeal the law but changed the rate to zero.

To Infinity And Beyond

Fox- Elon Musk’s SpaceX launches crew to rescue stuck NASA astronauts from ISS

SpaceX launched its Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket just after 7 p.m. from the U.S. space agency’s Kennedy Space Center, in collaboration with NASA.

Space.com- Watch SpaceX’s Crew-10 astronaut mission arrive at the ISS tonight

You can watch the arrival live via NASA, starting at 9:45 p.m. EDT (0145 GMT). Space.com will carry the feed as well, if the agency makes it available.

Why are Canadians Mad at Elon Musk?

We’ve long known that many Leftists are mentally ill.  Why else would they vote for policies that destroy their own society?

Here’s the latest illustration of what Trump Derangement Syndrome has driven some Canadians to do. Is this not the equivalent of a child being given a time out in their room and throwing a tantrum?

We also have B.C. Premier David Eby personally attacking one of Elon Musk’s businesses through legislation. The official explanation for this doesn’t ring true. It’s probably illegal for a government to single out and cause harm to specific individuals. Oh wait, the Trudeau government gleefully did it in 2022 by freezing the bank accounts of people who disagreed with them. But that was proved to be illegal, correct?!

While I understand, but don’t agree with, Canadian anger towards President Trump, why on earth is any Canadian angry with Elon Musk about work he is doing for a government of another country; work that doesn’t effect Canadians in any way? Is it simply anger & stupidity by proxy?

It’s Probably Nothing

The Bureau- Brookfield’s Deep Ties to Chinese Land, Loans, and Green Deals

A review of corporate documents reveals that Brookfield—the influential $900 billion Canadian investment fund from which Liberal Prime Minister-to-be Mark Carney stepped away from in order to replace Justin Trudeau as Canada’s leader—maintains over $3 billion in politically sensitive investments with Chinese state-linked real estate and energy companies, along with a substantial offshore banking presence. One of its major real estate ventures, a $750 million entry into high-end Shanghai commercial property in 2013, involved a Hong Kong tycoon affiliated with the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)—which the CIA labels a central “united front” entity of Beijing.

The Gangs All Here

National Post- Mark Carney sworn in as prime minister after Trudeau officially resigns

The new prime minister had to make something new out of something old by naming familiar faces to his first cabinet that will only last a couple of days with an election is looming.

Only three new members have joined the cabinet, Arielle Kayabaga as Government House Leader, Kody Blois as agriculture minister and Ali Ehsassi as public services and procurement minister. Eleven women were named in cabinet.

Pierre Polievre-   87% of Carney’s ministers were Trudeau’s ministers. And 100% of Carney’s ministers were in Trudeau’s caucus—helping hike carbon taxes and double the debt, housing costs and food bank lineups. A Liberal is a Liberal is a Liberal.
