Even Vancouver media personality & pundit, David Berner, who generally considers himself a man of the Left, can’t believe the insanity, greed, & selfishness coming out of the mouths of the leaders of the public school teachers in British Columbia.

The Toronto District School Board says it is meeting its obligation to accommodate students’ religious beliefs by allowing an imam to lead students in prayer on school property.
The board came under fire this week when a Hindu group that regularly criticizes Islam raised objections to Friday Muslim prayer sessions, which have been held inside a cafeteria at Valley Park Middle School in Flemingdon Park for about three years.

The Sound Of Settled Science
The conventional explanation for controversy over climate change emphasizes impediments to public understanding: Limited popular knowledge of science, the inability of ordinary citizens to assess technical information, and the resulting widespread use of unreliable cognitive heuristics to assess risk. A large survey of U.S. adults (N = 1540) found little support for this account. On the whole, the most scientifically literate and numerate subjects were slightly less likely, not more, to see climate change as a serious threat than the least scientifically literate and numerate ones.

Wanna Buy A Dam?
The facts tell the story. The [Manitoba] NDP has been selling off pieces of Hydro for years and nobody has uttered a peep.
They’ve sold off 33 percent of the Wuskwatim dam.
They’ve signed a deal to sell 25 percent of the Keeyask dam, which will be almost five times as large as Wuskwatim.
And they’re planning to sell of pieces of the still-larger Conawapa dam when its time to build it.
At that point they will run out of new dams to sell. So they will turn to selling off pieces of the old dams. Then the power lines and transmission towers. Eventually they’ll be left with only the rivers and streams, and they’ll start selling them.

Under the heading ‘Muslims should set up Islamic emirates in the UK’, MAC says: ‘We suggest it is time that areas with large Muslim populations declare an emirate delineating that Muslims trying to live within this area are trying to live by the sharia as much as possible with their own courts and community watch and schools and even self sufficient trade.
‘Likely areas for these projects might be Dewsbury or Bradford or Tower Hamlets to begin with.
‘In time we can envisage that the whole of the sharia might one day be implemented starting with these enclaves.’
It’s probably nothing.

57 years ago, on July 5, 1954, Elvis Presley recorded That’s All Right. This was the first single of his ever released and started a musical revolution of sorts. Here he is performing the same song in 1970.

Celebrity Corpse Network
And the Casey Anthony comment of the day;
An Orlando TV station declares that the trial “captivated the nation.” Which is, I suppose, a way of saying that TV ran wall-to-wall coverage for the benefit of idiots who were “captivated,” which no sane person could have been. Some postgraduate student of communication theory will undoubtedly write his Ph.D. dissertation on what the Casey Anthony saga tells us about the process by which network TV producers decide which crimes to turn into media circuses.

Y2Kyoto: Those Dirty Chinese
They admit the non-warming when they can lay blame for the non-warming;
Smoke belching from Asia’s rapidly growing economies is largely responsible for a halt in global warming in the decade after 1998 because of sulphur’s cooling effect, even though greenhouse gas emissions soared, a U.S. study said on Monday.
Tweaking computer models like this proves nothing. The real test is in the real world data. The temperature hasn’t increased for over a decade. For there to be any faith in the underlying scientific assumptions the world has to start warming soon, at an enhanced rate to compensate for it being held back for a decade.
Despite what the authors of this paper state after their tinkering with an out of date climate computer model, there is as yet no convincing explanation for the global temperature standstill of the past decade.
Either man-made and natural climatic effects have conspired to completely offset the warming that should have occurred due to greenhouse gasses in the past decade, or our estimation of the ‘climate sensitivity’ to greenhouse gasses is too large.

The Master Manual
“It shouldn’t have been this way,” he said while piling sandbags in front of his neighbor’s house. “For most of the spring there were sandbars over the whole damn river.”
The period between March 20 and May 6 has been difficult for the Army Corps of Engineers to explain. During that span, the Corps’ water managers kept river levels low and stockpiled near-record amounts of water behind the three upper basin dams on the Missouri River, despite evidence that the Rocky Mountains were holding a lot more snow than normal.
The reservoirs were so full by early May that they couldn’t contain the late-spring rainfall that pounded Montana and the Dakotas.

Related – The purposeful flooding of America’s heartland;
But after about thirty years of operation, as the environmentalist movement gained strength throughout the seventies and eighties, the Corps received a great deal of pressure to include some specific environmental concerns into their MWCM (Master Water Control Manual, the “bible” for the operation of the dam system). Preservation of habitat for at-risk bird and fish populations soon became a hot issue among the burgeoning environmental lobby. The pressure to satisfy the demands of these groups grew exponentially as politicians eagerly traded their common sense for “green” political support.
Things turned absurd from there.

Blog Notes
Well, I’m back! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable long weekend. We had a great trip, with all the dogs in the truck taking nice wins. Many thanks to the guest bloggers for holding down the fort while I traipsed across America.
Update, via my friend Tania who took this photo of our view from the show ring in Long Beach. I’ll post a later update with more photos when I find time to get them together.

I filmed the fireworks over Broadus, Montana last night on the final leg of my trip. (I’m not sure what happened to corrupt the first few seconds of the video, but it clears up quickly.)
Normal blogging will resume later today.
