Just a quick reminder that Canadian Truckers are badasses.
Today Gord Magill interviews Humboldt Saskatchewan trucker and Canadian trucking legend, Kim Wylie. Kim became known for this viral video he made after the Humboldt tragedy.
Voice Of GO(r)D is honored to bring you Mr Kim Wylie, a veteran trucker from Humboldt, Saskatchewan (yes, that Humboldt) who, like myself, is doing what he can to raise alarm bells about the state of the industry, and offer policy solutions to improve life for all of us out on the road. Working with friend and former guest of the show, Trent Lalonde, Kim is highlighting issues with training and licensure of truckers, and despite difficulty in getting policy makers in Saskatchewan to listen, seem to be making headway next door in Alberta, where discussions of recognizing truckers with trade certification are happening in earnest.

Fraud and cargo theft are huge issues in trucking today, among other things…

With the talk of secession since Monday it is of course inevitable that everyone is going want to have a say. What is also inevitable is that many of the opinions expressed will be ill informed.
You would think with treaty acknowledgements being in vogue that there would also be an effort to teach what is written in the treaties, but there isn’t. So let’s do it here.
Please take the time to read a few treaties in their entirety as they also list what First Nations receive in exchange for the peaceful surrender of territory; you see there are no limits on education or healthcare. Also remember that while seemingly well intentioned, the government of Canada did not serve the First Nations well. In some cases the provinces were even worse.
Another very interesting treaty is the Jay Treaty of 1794 that permits indigenous people to move freely across North America, living, working or going to school where they chose with all the rights of their chosen country, state or province, with the exception of voting rights which are reserved solely for citizens.

Alberta exported over $161B worth of products to the US in 2024.
Alberta and Ontario had $15.5B in two way trade in 2022
Saskatchewan exported $29B worth of products and commodities to the US in 2023
No clear data available for Saskatchewan trade numbers with Ontario, but suffice to say trade with the US exceeds trade within Canada.
British Columbia has 19 border crossings with the United States, Alberta has 6, Saskatchewan has 12, and Manitoba has 16. There is just 1 narrow 2 lane road through 1,000 miles of wilderness connecting all of Western Canada with Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, yet the East rules the lives of Western Canada?
Ontario and Quebec won’t buy oil from Western Canada, preferring to buy from the US, or Saudi Arabia. Even Russian oil is preferred to Canadian oil.
Ottawa will not allow Western Canada to export LNG to other countries, forcing Europe to rely on Russian LNG.
The Liberal government won’t even fight the 100% tariff on Canadian canola.
The only thing Eastern Canada wants from the West are tax dollars which they give to provinces dealing with insolvency.
So why do we stay? What advantage is it to stay part of a government that hobbles us at every level? It’s time Western Canada breaks free from the Stockholm Syndrome that has held us back for over a century. I don’t know exactly what that will look like, but I do know it will be better than what we have now.
Special thanks to Quebec for paving the way forward.
Gord Magill takes an in depth look at the problems that lead up to the recent crash on I-35 in Austin Texas, killing 5 people.
Recently, a horrific collision took place along Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas, where a commercial transport traveling at high speed crashed into a number of stopped vehicles along a stretch of the interstate that was under construction. 5 people were killed, including an infant and very young child, and another eleven people were sent to hospital, many with critical injuries. It turns out that the driver of the truck, a gentleman by the name of Solomun Weldekeal Araya, was a very recent migrant from Ethiopia that only had his commercial drivers license a scant four months.

Truck driver and trucker advocate Gord Magill delves into the problems with the North American trucking industry and carnage that has resulted from decades of poor decisions.
The Motor Carrier Act of 1980, passed by President Jimmy Carter, introduced sweeping reforms to how trucking was regulated, who could become a motor carrier (literally anyone), and removed government control and oversight of rates that carriers could charge their customers. This piece of legislation has been blamed by many for all of the woes in trucking for decades now, and one of the most infamous scholarly works on this change, that ought to be read by everyone, is called Sweatshops on Wheels : Winners and Losers in Trucking Deregulation. I interviewed the author, Dr Michael Belzer, an economics professor at Wayne State University in Michigan and former trucker, for my podcast, which you can listen to here.
In what should have been a surprise to no one that understands economics, the opening of the market to anyone with a pulse lead to an immediate environment of cut-throat competition which exists to this day, and is one of the reasons why truck drivers in 2024 are earning, on average, in inflation adjusted dollars, 50% of what they earned in 1980.

Dr. Naomi Wolf, one of the most prominent feminists in the world today, has been speaking out about COVID-19 lockdowns and vaccines since 2021, earning her a ban on Twitter for spreading “mis-information”.

Yesterday evening, Thursday August 29, saw the end of sentencing hearings for Tony Olienick and Chris Carbert at Court of King’s Bench in Lethbridge, Alberta. Those hearings lasted four days, with both the Crown and Defense presenting various arguments for what they believed would be appropriate sentences regards the minor charges both men were found ‘guilty’ of in relation to the major charge of ‘conspiring to murder police officers’, for which they were found NOT GUILTY.
Final sentencing has been adjourned until September 9th, as briefs were submitted by the defense late on Wednesday evening, to my mind possibly related to the very concerning rhetoric of Justice Labrenz which was heard on Tuesday.

Gord Magill goes indepth on the Coutts trial Part II, the Crown’s appeal of the aquittal, and asks questions about section 465 (1)(b) of the criminal code, Conspiracy to Prosecute.
The trucking industry has been in freefall for close to 2 years now. Declining freight volumes show the economy is in recession, but that doesn’t fit the left’s narrative, so it isn’t reported by MSM. Alternative media the rescue once again.
This video is short and gives a clear picture of what is happening in the North American economy.
This will be the first in a multi-part series on what has happened with the Coutts trial, and the many, many questions which flow from it. As we all know, the mainstream media are not going to ask these questions, nor tell you the truth about what went on, because that is not their job, and the Canadian government is going to do everything they can to pretend like the last four years didn’t happen, and absolve themselves of any responsibility.
WIth what’s going on in the UK, and the looming possibility of Bill C-63 passing in Canada, getting to the bottom of the conspiracy against the Coutts men is of grave import to rights Canadians hold dear, such as the right to freedom of expression, and to protest. – Gord Magill
