Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
If it were me, I’d simply make it against the law for a corporation to own more than, say 10 residential housing units. A unit defined as a single family dwelling, or an apartment building, or a connected block of houses. Make Blackrock sell all those single family homes they own.
Thank God in heaven it isn’t you. While i despise Blackrock as a corporate entity, where does your slope end? It is against freedom, but it is in a good “cause” may as well be the starter phrase for every government mass murder in the last one hundred years. I’m not referring to pissant school shootings, I’m talking about those measured in the millions, something only governments are capable of.
~ Pitt the Younger
How many homes does Blackrock own in canada?
How about Toronto Community Housing Corporation, are you demanding they divest the pver 58,000 units they own as toronto’s biggest slumlord?
Or demanding that Dunpar, who builds purpose built rental buildings sell off all the buildings it built, thus resulting in less rentals available?
From the “Nice side hustle you got going here, be a shame if something happened to it.” files.
In case you missed the memo from many years ago, in Canada if you make more money than you should without giving the libs their cut you will get “cracked down” on. At least the mafia was honest about what they were doing. But hey, some “experts” from academia and the msm told me I was free. Haha.
AB/Sask. separation from tier 2 Canada and the #Libranos will solve this problem.
In a year the Conservatives will gain power, but at some point in about a decade the #Libranos will return with a vengeance to burn the west down again.
Better to separate now while a new gov’t south of the border will recognise the new state to its north and we can get on with our lives of ignoring the tyranny of the #Libranos
As well, Ezra Levant is warning of the new censorship bills which will be foisted upon us. It looks very similar to what the UK has been dealing with in the past couple of years, having hate applied while you voice an opinion. Also includes… “pre-crimes” such as what you’re likely to say…
Garbage country Canada.
The assumption that Ab and Sask are not infected with the leftwing political ideology is naive to say the least.
Calgary and Edmonton make up more than half of Alberta’s population and are both run by left wing loons. I don’t think Alberta is a conservative as you think it is. I also seem to recall them having an NDP government not all that long ago.
all of Alberta used to be conservative, unfortunately over the last 25 years people from Ontario and eastern canada moved to to Alberta and brought with them that mental disorder known as liberalism
It’s been more like fifty years.
Bullshit, because Ontario was also conservative. We are all to blame for this. 1943 to 1985 Ontario had Conservative governments, and has about half the time since then.
1897 to 1971 Alberta was governed by the United Farmers (socialists), or Social Credit (also socialists). Alberta had a good run of conservatives since then, but they also elected the NDP. Historically, Alberta is as socialist as they come, and they still are at the municipal level.
Faux conservative. Liberals in Blue Suites.
It was a period of rapid growth in the Welfare State throughout the Western World. Following WWII, it was thought the state was infallible; all problems could be solved by a government program. And just as Bad money forces out Good money, so does state money force out productive money. No one can compete with the force and resources of the state, so a monopoly occurs. And the more the policies do not achieve their goals, the more coercion is required.
“Social Credit (also socialists)”
You are obviously not an Albertan or otherwise missed the largest and most popular conservative movement Alberta has ever seen. The Social Credit stuff had everything to do with bankers whom they didn’t like. Eberhardt was a preacher and the only two things Manning did with his life was politics with a sideline of radio preaching, The Back to the Bible Hour. I though Ernest Manning was wonderful.
Alberta was first governed by the Liberals. The United Farmers came along after WW1. And yes, they were a socialist movement, but they were serious about it. They thought in realistic terms about how to improve conditions for farmers, and considered than in itself to benefit society. They didn’t have much in common with what calls itself “socialism” today. Social Credit had even less.
Just because people are radical doesn’t make them leftist. After the First World War and the Great Depression, people had every reason to question the conventional ways of doing things. By today’s standards, the United Farmers look a damn sight more sensible than, say, Mackenzie King does. Even Social Credit, whom I admit look a bit goofy today, seem level-headed compared to the modern left.
Because Liberal cottaging communists don’t have to rent out their 2nd and third residences when not being used.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for a Liberal to lead by example, e g. by taking in boarders in the cottage provided for him at public expense.
Like the absurd doc drama that cbc foisted upon its few viewers about how mean Canadians are can being to their politicians. It made very sad to hear that.
Of course liberals think that way. What mine is mine and what is yours is mine as well.
A statist believes in the supremacy of the state, not the individual. The populace is there to serve the state, since the state is benificent and wise, and control of the populace is for their own good.
Anyone working for a government necessarily, if unconsciously, subscribes to this belief. This is why centers of government are always lefty. Edmonton and Austin, Texas, being fine examples.
The Governor of Gay North Dakota Hath Spoken
Pierre Trudeau was with the NDP prior to talking over the LPC. He realized that in order to implement his radical agenda, he had to use the natural governing party of the Laurentian elite. His spawn is continuing the NDP rule through the LPC and even has the NDP as his groveling water carriers. The Spawn has over-committed Butt’s suicidal green agenda and has driven the working class to the conservatives. It’s scorched earth government until the election.
Same thing happened in the United States. The traditional party of the workers, the Democrats, has become the party of the intellectual elites, the media, and the university socialists. As shown for about a decade now, the Republicans have become the party of American workers.
For the LPC in Canada, it will remain in the political wilderness until it can get over its 50-year fixation with the Trudeau name.
Funny,most Canadians hate anything American.
And they really hate hearing that Americans are much brighter when it comes to politics .
We will see if the Left gets dragged off the stage.
And if the right has the balls to really fix things. When any new face with a slogan would seem an improvement to the vegetables.
You just have to laugh. What a Liberal country we are .LOL
The Legacy of Fidelito.
In 30 years Canada will look just like Cuba. Everyone will be driving 25 year old cars or riding donkey carts.
We must try to stop this happening. The future is never inevitable.
(My trucks are are 28 and 31 yeara old, but my motorcycle is only 12. I can maintain them myself without computer diagnostics.) After 30 more years on current trends Canadians won’t be allowed to own and drive vehicles.
Fidelacio?
Agreed about the used car market; invest now!
Hey turdo! How many immigrants are in your spare rooms? And what about your MP’s homes and cottages?
When forced to take others not my family or true friends into my home, I hope they like Motorhead, loud.
AirBnB is not a hill conservatives should fight for, and certainly not die upon. At scale it brings very real problems to neighbourhoods when they suddenly find themselves infested with unregulated hotels with very limited means of recourse. The guests don’t care about any issues, they’re temporary. The property owner(s) may not even live there.
This is not a simple case of “my property my choice!”
One of the reasons businesses activities are regulated is so that the people within the applicable geographic area may mutually use their property as they see fit. The subsidiarity principle requires the most local form of government to deal with an issue. If there is not enough fire engine access, parking spots, electrical power, snow removal, garbage removal, water supply, or sewage supply in a town to support an Air BnB industry, then by all means, that town has every tool and regulatory power it needs to deal with the issue. Locally.
Unregulated business activity leads directly to a tragedy of the commons. Neither I, nor other reasonable people, are suggesting there be no regulation whatsoever.
So, the federal government has ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS getting involved with the regulation of a hospitality or short term rental industry. None. Only our retarded selfish baby prime minister would imagine he can possibly demand that people sell their homes rather than short term rent them out, in order to address a public housing issue that he personally caused in the first place: unrestricted immigration.
The issue here is not “governments have no say in what I do with my property.” The issue is “our prime minister must shut up about things that don’t concern him.” Imposing regulation from Ottawa that essentially seizes private property so as to mitigate a problem they caused? Definition of tyranny and poster child for unknown and unintended consequences.
Very well said.
Absolutely correct. The federal government has no business in municipal and provincial governance and about 90% of what they are engaged in.
May I say that the government has no business in the bedrooms or condos of the nation.
Just another mandate from a group without men.
Everything government touches turns to shit.
Housing being a perfect example.
The government saw that there was wealth locked up in rental properties.
And so they moved in.
First by stripping the landlords of their property rights, passing hundreds of stupid laws to “Protect” the renter.
Then came “Capital Gains taxation”,stripping the property owner of any profit.
And now, with rental properties in extremely short supply, they seek to dictate to property owners, how they shall use their own property.
Through Rule and Regulation it is impossible to build cheap homes.
The days of constructing a 12×12 shack,on the edge of civilization are gone.
“Low Cost” is now another NGO fully and completely funded by tax dollars..
And cost us millions/unit…
Government is promoting more slums.
High Density Housing sounds so much better.
For the Federal Government to state that they, remote bureaucrats, shall overrule local zoning..says all you need to know.
Property Rights were deliberately left out of our fake constitution.
For the kleptocracy cannot survive without the power to take Other People Money.
Our Parasitic Overload are OPM addicts.
And are more foul ,treacherous and low than any crazed Crackhead.
And the OPM is running out.
“Canadians” – population-replacing immigrants.
“We” – fascist POSs who rule you
Point no. 1
The so called ‘Liberals’ were implementing ever since.
It was named the Waffle Movement because some DIppers said they would sooner waffle to the left than qffle to the right, as the NDP was doing.
