1. Thank you again Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter, for the Motor Carrier Act of 1980, which allowed anybody with a heartbeat and a license, even a fake license, to drive a tractor trailer units, even unsafe ones, on public highways.

2. If an individual voluntarily accepts payment on a per mile basis there’s nothing the government can or should do about that. Driver competency can be dealt with through normal traffic enforcement and audits of log books. No need to reconstitute the freight cartels that existed until the 80s

   1. Not the first time in the UK. There have been similar protests in other Euro cities, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid for example.

      Invariably, the government throws the farmers a few bones and a lot of soothing words but little of consequence changes.

4. Canadians want Big Brother to step in and save them, again.
   We are so screwed.

5. The third article does a good job touching on many of the issues affecting our industry. One that was neglected is the emissions requirements of new trucks.
