Y2Kyoto: Shut Up And Eat Your Bugs

Daily Caller;

The United Nations (UN) climate summit, known as COP28, featured a Tuesday discussion on sustainable yachting.

The discussion centered on finding “a variety of technical solutions developed to make the yachting experience more responsible and sustainable,” according to its official COP28 website. The event, titled “Responsible Yachting. Today & Tomorrow,” was moderated by Nico Rosberg, a yacht-owning former race car driver, and organized by Sunreef Yacht, a company that builds custom yachts and luxury vessels.

The discussion also included “a conversation about electric, hybrid and hydrogen propulsion, battery technology, plant-based composites, bottom paints, modern photovoltaics, sustainable interior finishing, water management, energy management (and) air conditioning,” according to the event’s COP28 website.

Our Chinese-Installed Government In Ottawa

Sam Cooper;

In the most compelling evidence yet to emerge regarding Beijing’s meddling in Canada’s 2021 election, CSIS intercepted phone calls between a Consul General and the middleman for a federal candidate that was clandestinely supported by a “loyal” Chinese Canadian community group.

The case is detailed in a “Canadian Eyes Only” report containing intelligence on China’s sprawling efforts to boost candidates in recent Canadian municipal, provincial and federal elections — often using the same local cells of influence against multiple levels of government.

The Bureau
previously reported three alarming cases detailed in CSIS’s October 31, 2022 “Intelligence Assessment” — including a Chinese Consulate’s clandestine meeting in 2022 with its preferred leadership candidate for a provincial party, and also a Beijing agent’s scheme last year, to elect a federal party leader by covertly purchasing party memberships.

Two new cases examined in this story point to unaddressed gaps in Canada’s foreign interference laws, such as the inability to convert CSIS evidence into prosecutions.

Not by accident.

Transgender Is A Stalking Horse For the Normalization Of Pedophilia

A woman before his time;

Jason Lee Willie, a male who says he “identifies” as a female and goes by the name “Alexia Willie,” faces 14 counts of threatening to injure people across state lines. Willie, a resident of Nashville, Illinois, allegedly threatened to rape girls in girls’ restrooms, carry out a mass shooting at schools, and bomb churches. He seems to have taken inspiration from the female who identified as male who slaughtered three adults and three children at Nashville, Tennessee’s Covenant School in March. […]

“He said that Willie goes on the internet to find preachers or Republicans or black people and said that Willie talks to people about how he is going to ‘have sex with their kids in the bathroom, and stuff like that,’” prosecutors wrote.

He should have herself bought a bathing suit and been invited in.

Battleswarm blog: Explaining The Sam Altman/OpenAI Thing.

“The companies operating agreement – to investors – says – in writing: ‘It would be wise to view any investment in OpenAI in the spirit of a donation, with the understanding that it may be difficult to know what role money will play in a post-AGI world.’ Documents like this – that were written by an actual lawyer – highlight the problems we are starting to see from the combined popularity of science fiction in Silicon Valley and widespread microdosing of hallucinogens.”

As evidence of this,

The letter stated that the board had told the employee leadership team that allowing the company to be destroyed ‘would be consistent with the mission.’

Down The Primrose Path

I don’t understand. They held talks. There were announcements. They made agreements.

Western sanctions on Russian oil — agreed upon a year ago this week — were designed to reduce funding for the Kremlin’s military assault on Ukraine. Instead, it has fostered a lucrative business for scores of difficult-to-trace traders and shipping companies, known as the shadow fleet, which moved about 45% of Russia’s oil this year. As much as $11 billion a year of petrodollars are evaporating between when the oil leaves Russia and when it reaches buyers, according to trade data compiled by Bloomberg.

It’s almost as though there’s a market for oil that doesn’t care about meetings.

How It Started

How it’s going.

Some 6.9 million 23andMe customers had their data compromised after an anonymous hacker accessed user profiles and posted them for sale on the internet earlier this year, the company said on Monday.

The compromised data included users’ ancestry information as well as, for some users, health-related information based on their genetic profiles, the company said in an email.

Privacy advocates have long warned that sharing DNA with testing companies like 23andMe and Ancestry makes consumers vulnerable to the exposure of sensitive genetic information that can reveal health risks of individuals and those who are related to them.

So, you’ve hard at work building artificial general intelligence. Yay you! Now, explain to me how you’ll keep it from going nuts.

Amazon’s Q, the AI chatbot for workers its cloud division unveiled on Tuesday, appears to have a few issues.

Employees using the chatbot said Q could potentially reveal confidential information — including the location of AWS data centers or unreleased features — according to leaked internal communications obtained by Platformer, a tech newsletter.

The bot is also “experiencing severe hallucinations,” a phenomenon in which AI confidently spits out inaccuracies like they’re facts, the employees said.
