Some 6.9 million 23andMe customers had their data compromised after an anonymous hacker accessed user profiles and posted them for sale on the internet earlier this year, the company said on Monday.
The compromised data included users’ ancestry information as well as, for some users, health-related information based on their genetic profiles, the company said in an email.
Privacy advocates have long warned that sharing DNA with testing companies like 23andMe and Ancestry makes consumers vulnerable to the exposure of sensitive genetic information that can reveal health risks of individuals and those who are related to them.

I thought of doing one of those tests, but only if I could hide my identity with a phony name.
Then I heard the tests are all performed by Chinese in Communist China. Imagine if they could use all that data to tailor a disease to a specific genetic racial group, like Japanese, Whites, or Africans? Or the opposite, with a disease that only Han Chinese are immune from?
I am sure they have enough data by now, if they ever get the urge to depopulate our planet.

Well, at least down here in the states we don’t farm out our stupidity to China…on everything. Sometimes we like to do it ourselves. New Jersey has been secretly (and unconstitutionally) storing the blood samples of all newborns since the 1970’s. They hold onto it for at least 23 years. And, they have been sharing it with other entities (without permission or warrant). The police departments nationwide have used these blood samples in some cases. Other states caught doing this include Minnesota, Texas, and Michigan. Texas was sharing newborn blood samples with the Pentagon to create a national registry.
Reason # 2,000,000,000,000,000 that politicians suck.
