Koalas, Chlamydia and Climate Change, Oh My!

Koalas are dying from chlamydia, climate change is making it worse

A silent killer is spreading through Australia’s koala population, posing a threat that wildlife experts say could wipe out the iconic marsupial across large parts of the country. The culprit is chlamydia, a sexually transmitted bacteria that infects more than 100 million people worldwide annually and can cause infertility in humans if left untreated. For koalas, uncontrolled chlamydia can cause blindness and painful cysts in a animal’s reproductive tract that may lead to infertility or even death.

And how are the polar bears doing?

Solidarity with the enemy

The reason that Erin O’Toole is unable to mount a solid attack on the prospect of a Liberal/NDP coalition is not because of MP Marilyn Gladu, but because he basically agrees with everything that the coalition is proposing. On the energy front, does O’Toole believe his carbon tax regime, as opposed to that of the coalition, would not obliterate oil patch jobs?

“This coalition will create billions in new spending that will further drive up inflation even more,” O’Toole said…. A Liberal-NDP coalition would shut down Canadian energy and resource sectors, eliminating thousands of jobs,…

COP26: The Coal-Fired Climate Conference

Coal keeps lights on at COP26 as low wind strikes again

…yesterday, 3 November, saw a new record for the total daily cost of balancing the GB electricity grid. The previous record of £38 million, twenty times the current daily average, was smashed by a margin of £6 million, with the new record standing at £44.7m.

The causes are easy to identify from the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service’s own chart of the Transmission System fuel mix. Wind power, the dark blue bars, was extremely low for most of the day, with a minimum of only 1 GW, under 5% of its capacity.

Minimum wind generation coincided neatly with peak demand, and as a result system prices reached stunning levels, with a maximum of just over £4,000 a megawatt hour, nearly 100 times the wholesale price normal before the current crisis started, as can be seen in this BMRS chart

These prices brought coal and gas back on to the system to save the day, but emergency measures are expensive, and the cost to consumers and the wider economy was little short of horrifying.

Stories You Won’t Find At The CBC

Cruise ships, four hundred private planes, and lavish parties. The elites of the world are just laughing at us, as they gather for their big climate festival. What about the peasants that have to pay the bills and only look forward to more taxes. And will we see pictures of Justin bar hopping in Scotland like he did in Holland?

And Trudeau declares war on Alberta oil.

If Women Ran The World

Justin’s CBC explains that men are pretty well useless when it comes to fighting global warming. Environmental groups must focus on women. After all, they are the biggest victims of this climate crisis. This includes women being physically abused by men because of global warming events.  And women can nag their husbands to join the cause. Isn’t that sexist?

Meanwhile the Greta circus is fun to watch.

And the private planes have arrived. Including dictators from third world countries looking for green cash.
