In Montreal, they use giant auger/snow-throwers with convoys of transport-trailers, making a pile outside the city that I’ve seen last until July.
I’ve chatted with city bus drivers who say winter driving of buses in deep snow is an extreme sport.
The difference is we in Winnipeg pay for own snow removal equipment and we also chip in with the other 8 provinces so Quebec can have the best of the best.

Ha! In Edmonton, we’ve got the most effective way of removing snow on side streets. It’s called spring time.
The joke in town is that snowplows are like the sasquatch. Everybody believes they exist, but nobody’s ever seen one.

I will totally Concur and support that statement. The ruts in the roads are ofter 8-10″ DEEP…been there din’t like it and moved to Cowtown – Where we rely on “chinooks”…Those warm winds steeped in NDP- Leftist Flatulence from BC.
However Actual snow removal equipment is often as Rare as a REAL conservative in Calgary…never around when its needed.
I’ve spent part of the past few winters at my house in Fort St. John. Considering how that place takes care of its streets, having a 4-wheel drive truck is a good idea and there have been times when I used that capability on mine.
Winnipeg also uses all of the above. Lots of loaders too. The problem is that the city only removes “snow” in residential areas once every winter, so by that time it’s a solid crust of ice and ruts 6 inches thick. Winnipeg is not up to Montreal military-grade snow removal operation, but when they get around to removing snow they do a decent job.
How well do you think your electric car will work when it’s -37 in January? Battery may be a tad flat, unless of course you have a heated garage and you can park it in a heated garage when you are at work.
Let’s not think of these things now. Let’s wait until the final deadline to have your gas burning car off the road and your EV sits in the driveway because the battery is stone cold flat. Enjoy public transit, sheep.
Where I live, there is no such thing as public transit, and I don’t have a car. How do I survive, you may ask? Lotsa tools and knowhow, and willingness to help my neighbors with anything from setting up/troubleshooting their wi-fi, helping them do an oil change, installing a 3000 watt heater, or whatever…aka the barter system, and all without contracts, on a goodwill basis. We may be financially poor, but we are socially rich…and when TSHTF, that’s what’s gonna count.
You won’t have an electric vehicle. There are not enough mines to provide enough batteries for everyone to have an electric vehicle.
You’ll have to take public transit.
And you’ll need to replace your fridge with a much smaller one: bar sized to be precise.
No need for meat or dairy products. They’ll be prohibitively taxed. Too much methane.
House temp? 50F (10C), just like it was in the ‘good old’ 1800s.
Oye, Pendejo, have you seen the commercial for the new F-150 Electric truck, that can power your house for a couple days?
Well. they weren’t the first, the 2011 Chevy Silverado Hybrid had power outlets you could use to run power tools etc, but at least it was a hybrid and could CHARGE ITSELF! The all electric Ford F150 is slicker (they did have a hybrid F-150 similar to the Chevy, in 2021) the charge system/connector can reverse the power flow into the house through the charging station, but if the vehicle isn’t charged up first, how are you going to charge it? I’m thinking blackout situation. I guess you could use a GENERATOR to charge the vehicle, but then you wouldn’t need the vehicle to run the house, the generator could run both!
A hybrid has the best of both worlds, an engine that can run without need for batteries, it can be “recharged” in a couple of minutes (Jerry Can), much more transportable and faster than using a generator.
I still don’t see pure electric as a viable power source, except for ideal conditions/circumstances.

WA state has already admitted they don’t have enough snowplow drivers because of the governors get the shot rule.
Next few months are going to be funny. How many libs will scream when they can’t go skiing because of road closures. Not including how many trucks hauling products can’t get over the mountain passes..

I remember when CAL water polo players were paid by the University to sweep the snow out of Memorial Stadium in Berkeley. Because it is illegal to pay NCAA athletes to play their sport … but they CAN be paid to do “REAL” work not associated with their sport.
My son lives just north of the beaches area in Toronto. As is typical of old Toronto a lot of houses don’t have driveways and use a purchased permit to park on the street. You take a spot where you can find one as close to your home as you can get. Think we at SDA have discussed this before but how are you going to recharge your car? Will there be long extension cords running many yards to your car? Will be interesting to see the sidewalk snow clearing machines chew through all the extension cords.
Does that mean all the assholes that park their cars in the street in Winnipeg will have to finally park in their fucking driveway? There is an upside to this…
