“There is no denying”

Cosh;

… that what is about to happen to Tory is somewhat unjust. He may, after all, end up as the first Conservative party leader anywhere in Canada to lose an election because he advocated relativism and multiculturalism. These are twin creeds that Liberals and public-school teachers are happy to profess when the subject is government or sexual morality, but just watch how quickly they are abandoned when someone challenges the science curriculum.

A Racist Ape In King Arthur’s Court

When the concept of “multiculturalism” was introduced to Canadians, most assumed it meant “more pavilions at Folkfest”.
Via Gay and Right;

I became exasperated and said ‘Is there no-one working here who speaks English? This is Paddington – this is still a London neighbourhood.’
A well-dressed man came over and said ‘I speak English.’ I thought he was going to intervene on my behalf but instead came out with this astonishing observation:
‘You are a racist! You are a racist ape! Look at you– you are an ape!’
I was dumbfounded. I came to London thirty-two years ago to soak up the culture of Dr Johnson and Chaucer and Milton, and in the autumn of my life am called an ape by a man from, well, perhaps Egypt, perhaps Palestine, perhaps Saudi Arabia.

“Almost half of Britain’s mosques are under the control of a hardline Islamic sect whose leading preacher loathes Western values and has called on Muslims to “shed blood” for Allah, an investigation by The Times has found.
Riyadh ul Haq, who supports armed jihad and preaches contempt for Jews, Christians and Hindus, is in line to become the spiritual leader of the Deobandi sect in Britain. The ultra-conservative movement, which gave birth to the Taleban in Afghanistan, now runs more than 600 of Britain’s 1,350 mosques…”

Don’t let any of this interrupt your discussions in the comments, my leftist friends.

Where’s Hsu?

Long gone;

Disgraced Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu was a wanted man again after he failed to show up for a court date Wednesday and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest.
Hsu, whose criminal past has roiled the campaigns of top presidential candidates, was scheduled to ask a judge to cut in half the $2 million bail he posted last week when he turned himself in after spending 15 years on the lam from a felony theft conviction.
[…]
Federal Election Commission records show Hsu donated $260,000 to Democratic Party groups and federal candidates since 2004. Though a top fundraiser for Clinton, he also donated to Obama’s Senate campaign in 2004 and to his political action committee. He also contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to state and municipal candidates.

Clinton must be thanking her lucky stars that she doesn’t receive “Hillraiser” contributions in airport bathrooms.

Who Are You People And What Have You Done With My Premier?

Aug. 22 …

Sept 5 …

The province announced Wednesday that it has sold its 50 per cent interest in NewGrade Energy Inc., a Crown asset in Regina.
[…]
The upgrader, which processes heavy crude oil into synthetic crude oil, has 162 employees. Half the company is owned by Consumers‘ Co-operative Refineries Ltd.
The buyer of the province‘s share likely won‘t be identified until the fall for regulatory reasons.

$320 million of the proceeds are going to create a new “Green Futures Fund”, And because there are never too many places* to park your political cronies

In addition to founding the Green Future Fund, the Government will immediately begin the process of establishing a Climate Change Secretariat, staffed by climate change experts. The Secretariat will be placed within CIC to co-ordinate and oversee Government’s climate change agenda in the Crowns and Executive Government.

The NDP has signed Saskatchewan to a commitment to “stabilize” the province’s C02 emmissions by 2010 and reduce them by 32% by the year 2020.
That could happen.

Y2Kyoto: Be Still My Beating Heart

Well this explains that vast, unpopulated wasteland known as “the equator”;

Doctors warn that the warmer weather expected with climate change might also produce more heart problems.
“If it really is a few degrees warmer in the next 50 years, we could definitely have more cardiovascular disease,” said Dr. Karin Schenck-Gustafsson, of the department of cardiology at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute.
On the sidelines of the European Society of Cardiology’s annual meeting in Vienna this week, some experts said that the issue deserved more attention. It’s well-known that people have more heart problems when it’s hot.

Speaking of global warming, Saskatchewan’s forecast for the month of September includes snow…

During the winter months, “there is a change in the ratio of daylight hours to dark hours, which changes the hormonal balance, and the hormones involved, such as cortisol, can lower the threshold for a cardiovascular event,” explains Stephen P. Glasser, MD, a professor of preventive medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, in Birmingham, Ala.
But that’s not all that’s going on. Cold temperatures cause arteries to tighten, restricting blood flow and reducing the oxygen supply to the heart, all of which can set the stage for a heart attack.
“In cold weather, there is more oxygen demand by the heart because it is working harder to do the work and maintain body heat,” Glasser says.

The science is settled. There’s nowhere on earth where human beings can survive.

Who Are You People And What Have You Done With My Premier?

At first glance, this appears to be a new pre-campaign ad by the NDP. (Video at link)
But something’s a little odd. What’s that in Mr. Calvert’s hand?
coldcalvert1.jpg
It appears reminiscent of an NDP brochure used in the November 2003 campaign.
And while we’ve just recorded the second coolest August ever, I don’t recall streets full of people clad in fall jackets.
coldcalvert2.jpg
So, why the old footage? Was Lorne unavailable for filming? The official line is that he’s still Premier, still in complete charge of the province’s business. Yet, this latest ad feels less like a political message than it does a “proof of life” event. Next installment: Lorne in an Adidas tracksuit, Gary Doer at his side.
And what’s this?
coldcalvert3.jpg
Now, there’s an image I’ve seen before. I think, though I stand to be corrected, that it was part of a Sasktel ad – a crown corporation.
Does anyone else out there recognize it, or recall the source?

Tony Blair’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch and the state eats your baby;

Social services’ recommendation that the baby should be taken from Fran Lyon, a 22-year-old charity worker who has five A-levels and a degree in neuroscience, was based in part on a letter from a paediatrician she has never met.
Hexham children’s services, part of Northumberland County Council, said the decision had been made because Miss Lyon was likely to suffer from Munchausen’s Syndrome by proxy, a condition unproven by science in which a mother will make up an illness in her child, or harm it, to draw attention to herself.
Under the plan, a doctor will hand the newborn to a social worker, provided there are no medical complications. Social services’ request for an emergency protection order – these are usually granted – will be heard in secret in the family court at Hexham magistrates on the same day.
From then on, anyone discussing the case, including Miss Lyon, will be deemed to be in contempt of the court.
[…]
The case adds to growing concern, highlighted in a series of articles in The Sunday Telegraph, over a huge rise in the number of babies under a year old being taken from parents. The figure was 2,000 last year, three times the number 10 years ago.
Critics say councils are taking more babies from parents to help them meet adoption “targets”.

Update – Fran Lyon responds in our comments, here.

“It seems that the Qur’an is a pretty political book, and inconsistent”

“It treats issues differently from one instance to another. This huge inconsistency can make Muslims confused. Based on this confusion, many Muslims have for centuries excluded non-Muslims from their orbit. In addition, the traditional script of the Qur’an exhorts repulsion of ‘others’ much more than acceptance. Many Muslims are unwilling to realise that the Qur’an was written and compiled by the pioneers of Islam through different political stages. Instead, many take the book as the final verdict of God. These Qur’anic teachings have been enforced by Sharia even more strictly than the Qur’an itself over the centuries. Now, for many, the whole essence of Islam is repulsion of others.”
“Today the spokespersons of Islam are ignoring fundamental realities in a fake attempt to show global harmony. They are trying to show Islam as a religion of peace. They blame the foreign policies of Britain and the USA for every misery in the Muslim world. Left-leaning groups across the world are allying themselves with Muslim fundamentalists because of a common hatred of the USA. So many leftwing academics are facilitating the denial and conspiracy theories of Muslims. Interestingly, we, as Muslims, have been accusing others of denying the ultimate ‘truth’ of Islam, hence calling them infidels. Actually, many of us are now in denial as to the religious roots of terrorism. According to our own definition of infidel, we can be viewed as being infidels. Without acknowledging the sin of denial, we can’t rectify our misdeeds. That’s the reason I have proposed the New Islam project, to encourage that realisation.”
