Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Pot is legal in Canada, and detectable traces stay in your body for a long time – weeks? – after consumption, the young blue collar Canadians who might take trucking jobs I would suggest might be part of the demographic that is likely to encounter pot smoking on a Saturday night with friends, so they aren’t going to pass piss tests and they’re in trouble if they are in a road accident even if they’re not at fault, so they are wise to avoid truck driving jobs. Maybe lighten up a little on laws and regulations? Tolerate some small level of pot traces in an otherwise normal person’s system? I’m not saying they can have bongs in the cab…
Or, if you want a trucking driving job, heavy equipment operation job, or any job where safety is a primary factor, you might want to avoid pot and other recreational drugs completely.
Long term pot use:
Cognitive impairment: Chronic use can lead to problems with memory, attention, and motivation, which may be linked to lower academic and work performance. These effects may be more lasting if use begins in adolescence.
Yes Or Son, and eating peanut butter will cause cancer, git a grip already!
Gawd! Shades of Reefer Madness!
Yes, there are stupid, thoughtless, lazy, unaccomplished people who smoke weed.
And there are smart, thoughtful, motivated, accomplished people who smoke weed.
Heh…Reefer Madness? Sure, if you are implying that Harvard Medical School is spreading rumors on a documented decrease in processing speed by long term pot users. But, hell, processing speed in a truck driver on busy highways is irrelevant.
Carry on.
My bad. I bow to the inerrable wisdom of Harvard Medical School, which, I am sure, has only graduated the best and brightest who produced only the highest ranked and cited peer reviewed research papers.
Also, let’s talk about truck drivers who may not smoke weed but can’t read and wear turbans.
There is a truck stop in Illinois i hear is popular because it is right next to a weed dispensary. Hard to find truck parking near most.
So that would be a Strawman Argument, right NME. Peanut butter is acceptable so all manner of drugs should be allowed by whoever wants to take them. I don’t want my Pilots, Bus Drivers, Train Engineers, Ferry Operators, Ships Officers, Police Officers, Military Personnel and anyone that could potentially kill someone by having a flashback or losing focus at a critical time being allowed to use drugs. I seem to recall a study that said THC was stored in the fat cells and that during stressful situations that fat was burned off releasing the THC into the bloodstream which could cause the person to become high and lose focus. I support a Federal mandatory blood test for anyone involved in a major accident, if you aren’t driving high then there won’t be a problem.
Like, wow, man, your comment gave me a heavy flashback about the time I got really stressed and my fat cells burned right off and released THC, Peyote, and all manner of shite.
“Like, wow, man, your comment gave me a heavy flashback about the time I got really stressed and my fat cells burned right off and released THC, Peyote, and all manner of shite.”
I did a fair bit of acid in the 70’s. Still waiting for those LSD flashbacks they promised me… 🙂
Comm
It’s an indictment on ‘studies’, and on the rite side of the aisle there is always a negative on certain topis, deal with it, pounder BULLSHIT, is still BULLSHIT.
This gives new meaning to the expression, “fathead”…
The worst is a fathead with a pot belly.
The article and supporting links regarding the blatantly corrupted
North American trucking industry causing death and destruction as planned,
aided and abetted by fifth-columnist gov’t “workers”,
and now all being held accountable for it…
is met here in the comments with the (possibly related?) argument that Six-Paks and Turban Topedos
ought to be allowed to smoke pot because Justin Trudeau.
No. Prosecute all the corrupt trucking companies, driving instructors/examiners, fifth-columnist gov’t “workers”, and Lib/Dem illegal immigrant policy makers to the fullest extent of the law,
then hang the guilty.

… Alberta’s government has ordered the closure of five driver training schools. In addition, the province issued 39 disciplinary letters, more than $100,000 in administrative penalties, six corrective action plans, revoked 12 instructor licences, and sent four warning letters to driver examiners.

Yeah, and I’ve been unable to find the names of said driver training schools closed, the trucking companies banned, to whom the letters were sent & fines administered, etc., etc., etc.
Name & shame the pricks.
