each new variant is seeing this relative risk rate rise and the rate of rise is accelerating. this is, unfortunately, exactly what one would predict as a leaky vaccine with a strong tendency to antigenically fixate those having received it drives viral evolution to prey upon this vulnerability. herd OAS replaces herd immunity and vaccine driven evolution does the rest.

if your immune system keeps responding the same way while the virus keeps evolving to take greater and greater advantage of this fact, it could, indeed, eventually become something you can never quite clear.

Geert Vanden Bossche- I SERIOUSLY expect that a series of new highly virulent and highly infectious SARS-CoV-2 (SC-2) variants will now rapidly and independently emerge in highly vaccinated countries all over the world and that they will soon spread at high pace. I expect the current pattern of repetitive infections and relatively mild disease in vaccinees to soon aggravate and be replaced by severe disease and death.

Due to the large numbers of spontaneous adverse event reports received for the product, the MAH has prioritised the processing of serious cases, in order to meet expedited regulatory reporting timelines and ensure these reports are available for signal detection and evaluation activity.

Pfizer has also taken a multiple actions to help alleviate the large increase of
adverse event reports. This includes significant technology enhancements, and process and workflow solutions, as well as increasing the number of data entry and case processing colleagues. To date, Pfizer has onboarded approximately 600 additional fulltime employees (FTEs). More are joining each month with an expected total of more than 1,800 additional resources by the end of June 2021.

Government of Canada- “Reported” side effects following COVID-19 vaccination in Canada

Adverse events (side effects) have been reported by 40,891 people. That’s about 5 people out of every 10,000 people vaccinated who have reported 1 or more adverse events.  8,556 were considered serious.  Serious adverse events are rare, but do occur. They include anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction), which has been reported 795 times for all COVID-19 vaccines across Canada.  h/t Viva Frei

While data shows that “most reported adverse events were mild and short in duration,” according to the study, which was published in the UK-based medical journal The Lancet, 6.6% of all side effects were categorized as “serious,” and resulted in “inpatient hospitalisation, prolongation of hospitalisation, permanent disability, life-threatening illness, congenital anomaly or birth defect.”

Deaths represented a stunning 1.3% of side effects reports.

How it started;

[T]o end the pandemic, wealthier countries must address global vaccine inequality. The low vaccination rates in developing countries are driving the relentless mutation of the virus. Not only do these wealthier nations have a moral obligation to expand vaccine access in these countries, but they should also do so to better protect themselves and developing countries who lack the infrastructure necessary to relax public safety regulations.

How it’s going…

Now, with the world taking sides in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, vaccine access is being used to retaliate against countries that aren’t expressing full opposition to Russia’s actions. This is what happened in the case of Lithuania, which decided to cancel its donation of nearly half a million Pfizer covid-19 vaccine doses to Bangladesh, after Bangladesh abstained in the UN General Assembly’s vote condemning the invasion.
