National Post- Canada bringing back mandatory random testing of travellers arriving at main airports
The government now says testing will resume as of July 19 for fully vaccinated travellers arriving at the Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto airports.
Reaction: They’ll huff and they’ll puff… and then they’ll comply.
The calls and text messages are relentless. On the other end are doctors and scientists at the top levels of the NIH, FDA and CDC. They are variously frustrated, exasperated and alarmed about the direction of the agencies to which they have devoted their careers.
“It’s like a horror movie I’m being forced to watch and I can’t close my eyes,” one senior FDA official lamented. “People are getting bad advice and we can’t say anything.”
That particular FDA doctor was referring to two recent developments inside the agency. First, how, with no solid clinical data, the agency authorized Covid vaccines for infants and toddlers, including those who already had Covid. And second, the fact that just months before, the FDA bypassed their external experts to authorize booster shots for young children.
That doctor is hardly alone.

Combined, the mRNA vaccines were associated with an absolute risk increase of serious adverse events of special interest of 12.5 per 10,000 (95% CI 2.1 to 22.9). The excess risk of serious adverse events of special interest surpassed the risk reduction for COVID-19 hospitalization relative to the placebo group in both Pfizer and Moderna trials (2.3 and 6.4 per 10,000 participants, respectively).

The Daily Sceptic- Serious Heart Inflammation 44 Times Higher After Covid Vaccination, Nature Study Finds
The risk of being hospitalised with heart inflammation is up to 44 times higher following Covid vaccination, a study in Nature has found.
The study, which examined the vaccination status of all 1,612 hospital cases of myocarditis and 1,613 hospital cases of pericarditis in France between May 12th and October 31st 2021, found that the risk of being hospitalised with myocarditis was 8.1 times higher in the week following a Pfizer second dose (95% confidence interval [CI], 6.7 to 9.9) and 30 times higher following a Moderna second dose (CI, 21 to 43).

As Bloomberg reports, large numbers of patients have reported the phenomenon, often called Covid rebound or Paxlovid rebound, of returning symptoms after taking a full course of Pfizer’s drug.
While Pfizer Chief Executive Officer Albert Bourlasaid in May that doctors could prescribe a second course of treatment to such patients, US drug regulators have said there’s no evidence that a repeat will help.
However, Fauci said he started taking a second course of Paxlovid after experiencing symptoms “much worse than in the first go around.”
Now near completion of the five-day oral treatment, he said he was still enduring symptoms but felt “reasonably good.”

National Post- Liberals propose another year of hybrid Parliament
The Liberals are looking to keep Parliament by Zoom call in place for another year, with a motion to extend the hybrid House of Commons to be introduced this week.
Liberal House leader Mark Holland announced the government’s plan Monday morning, as the House of Commons enters its final week before breaking for the summer.
He said the hybrid Parliament, where MPs can appear in person or via videoconference, made Parliament work during the pandemic and it might be important to keep around. As an example, he said five MPs, including the prime minister, had COVID-19 in just the past week and otherwise would not have been able to participate in debates and votes.

In a shocking scandal that has taken place in Spain, it turns out that the President of the Spanish pharmaceutical company PharmaMar, has been caught by police with a fake covid passport.
The 76 year old José María Fernández Sousa-Faro who is a professor of Biochemistry and the author of about 100 publications and patents on biochemistry and molecular biology, was caught among thousands of other people in a police operation against people who had fake covid passports.
He was one of the people on the police list of names that had falsely claimed to be vaccinated. The names of other celebrities have also appeared on the police list in the operation known as “operation Jenner”.
PharmaMar is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Spain.
