Very clever. Not only is the NDP ignoring Stephane Dion and the Liberals on the campaign trail, the NDP is outbidding the Liberals on keyword search bids, bringing people looking for information on “stephane dion” to their website.
Look, this won’t win the election. But owning your own search terms is considered pretty important in this field. Letting your competitors grab traffic that was heading for your site based on a search of your own product’s name is the sort of thing that makes people in this business snicker.
Update: And those rotten Dippers are grabbing Conservative traffic too! Type in “stephen harper” and there is JackLayton.ca in the sponsored links. Clever little Dippers.

I checked my adwords account, those keywords have a minimum bid of $12.00. So every time you click on an NDP ad, Google bills the dippers $10.
It’s classic NDP level stupid.

The media are falling all over themselves in faux outrage over a cartoon puffin shown crapping on Stephane Dion’s shoulder at the Conservative party website notaleader.ca. It’s been yanked, with some lame excuse about an overzealous web designer.
You know, we tried to warn you idiots.

The Conservative official said the type of voter targeted by notaleader.ca at tends to be someone between 18 and 30, who has not yet developed a loyalty to one political brand or another.
“They are anti-establishment, libertarian, web- and tech-savvy, and politically incorrect,” said the Conservative adviser. “We set out to build a website that appeals to them.”

Just more evidence that…

There exists a persistent misconception inside political/media circles that the political interweb is the domain of “tech savvy twenty-somethings”. The Conservative’s website has, in all likelihood, been influenced by this ridiculous assumption and that means it’s time to fire some of the high-priced help. If your web people haven’t even a remedial understanding of their audience demographic, they have no business being involved in your communications strategy.

Hello? Is anyone out there listening? Your web designers and your web audience are two different demographics. Just because the guys behind the scenes writing code are in their twenties, does not mean that the people searching for political content are.
Update: Good point. Flash? The web designers aren’t even good at the tech side.

Today on CNN’s Situation Room … Donna Brazile tried to cement the image of The Messiah, and actually compared Barack Obama to Jesus Christ (the community organizer) and Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilate (the Governor).

But charges of “liberal media bias” are nothing more than the product of fevered neanderthal imaginations!

Palin wasn’t chosen to pick off disgruntled Hillary supporters (though she will to a degree).
She was chosen to pick off Democratic, blue collar men.

We’ve been subject to a widely-accepted, culturally-promoted conceit that a woman can perfectly assemble the perfect woman if she buys the right products and acts a certain way and expresses the right political viewpoints, but the truth his that this assembled product is in fact BY (some) women and FOR (some) women, with men folded vaguely somewhere into the equation; the gals go off into another room and make themselves over, and then they come out and a room-full of women shriek and gasp and applaud, and the gynergy just absolutely threatens to blow the roof off, but meanwhile the guys are going “Meh. Nuhhh, well, uhh, neh…but you go, girl,” or perhaps they duly acquiesce and nod, accepting their role as as helpful fodder for the cause that ain’t theirs.
But then, there’s actually the matter of what men like, as opposed to what they want. A couple of years ago I was watching the Canadian women’s hockey team in a public…house, and I remember how the women in the room were surprised by the barking intensity of cheering coming from the men. It made perfect sense to the guys, of course; when we’re watching, say, NHL hockey, what gets us riled up is when a Glenn Anderson creases the scalp of some board-smashing goon who thought he had #9 lined up, but the canny fisherman’s son slip-slides past Mongo and drives to the net with the puck. Well, that pleasure is doubled when you see a big handsome Canadian gal, with her family name right there on her jersey, fighting her way out of the corner with the puck — it just makes the monkey-brain bonus-light flash a little more frantically.
It’s a different and far more deeply-rotted kind of “you go girl!” than when some putative feminist is savaging a strong woman like Sarah Palin — or Kate — with the assumed support of other women, and on behalf of some putatively oppressed sisteren-en.
When a woman steps forward and faces down Moloch on everyone’s behalf it’s actually more inspiring –*to men* — than if some suit-guy is doing it.

Apparently, since the left can’t really go after Palin on her experience (Obama has equal or less, and he’s running for the TOP job, not the bottom) or her record, which seems very appealing to a reform-minded electorate, the left has settled on the uterine comings-and-goings of not just Sarah Palin but of one of her “witchy-named” daughters, too.
Yes, the washerwomen are whispering and what they’re whispering is imaginative: According to them, Little Trig, (aka “that seriously disabled” Down Syndrome Baby that should have been aborted) whom Palin seems to have taken to the office and breastfed is not Palin’s son but her grandson. One of her daughters, you see, is the actual mother, and oh yes…some of these whisperers even suggest that the baby has an extra chromosome because of…wait for it…incest.

I trust you ladies out there in progressive land are taking notes?

Women being bashed for their right to choose having a family and a career with the support of their spouse.
Women being called sluts, bimbos and brood mares.
Women having their appearance dissected and witchhunts for compromising photos.
