Comments open for your reactions while we wait for the Palin speech to come up on Youtube. (bumped)
Video here and text.
(Plus a transcript of Rudy Giuliani’s great barnburner here).
They love her in Hillary Land
“I love, love, love this!! We are going to kick Obama’s butt all the way back to Kenya!!!!!!” …
Yeah. It’s really easy to see now what they were so afraid of. I have to watch that again…..if no other reason but to catch that joke about the greek columns again.
It’s midnight on the east coast and SDA has just registered 900 Sitemeter visits in the last hour. That’s how big this story is.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid just called her “shrill”. That’ll win the women back!
And is CNN rattled? You be the judge…. “McCain Wins Democratic Nomination”

(thanks to Paul C.)
Now we know why they pay Keith Olbermann the big bucks – “People who like this sort of thing will find this… the sort of thing they like.”

Saw Palin – WOW! she hit it out of the park. It’s no wonder the left/media is in dread of her.
The Dan Quayle meme has been extinguished, and the Sarah Barracuda nickname justified, that’s for sure
If Biden and Obama are squirrels then Sarah the Cuda just took their nuts for the winter.
Sarah Palin, the next VP of the USA! That lady rocked! What a beautiful family she has, sure her husband is very proud of his wife tonight. Well done.
Hurricane Sarah
Quote “I Believe America May Have Met Her Next Vice-President.”
And eventually the first woman president of the US.
Leftoids, you’ll get the knives out now, and it won’t do you a damn bit of good, except perhaps to eat out your own hearts.
I wouldn’t bet a paycheck on them winning, but the speeches tonight are a good sign.
Kick ASS!! That woman has Moxie! She has it in every meaning of the word! I think Biden is having his 7th drink and the Obama-Nation are collectively cleaning the crap out of their pants!
Palin did not hit a home run. She hit a “grand SLAM!!!!!! Of course the MSM is reporting that someone other than the Senator wrote the speech. SHEEEEEECH!
Clearly, a star is born in America.
Wolf Blitzer CNN
Obviously, McCain has his attack dog.
Anderson Cooper, CNN
Hey, why watch Fox when you can watch the Lefty at CNN fall all over themselves trying to disprove the accusations that they hate her. hehe
Lots of compliments.
Barracuda!
I liked the differentiation between hockey moms and pit bulls: lipstick!
I thought she did well, covering all the bases, even foreign policy. I think our friends to the south now have a good idea about the character and fibre of the woman who would be their next veep.
Her speech was absolutely brilliant. She utterly destroyed the empty suit Obama. The leftards will definitely be ramping up their attacks now.
McCain/Palin ’08! I just wish I could vote!
Maybe Canada can somehow annex Alaska and she can be Prime Minister!!
Fantastic speech!!
Stephane Dion, Mr. Carbon Tax, how would you like to debate the pit bull? Perhaps bring your attack poodle, Kyoto?
I am in love. Sara’cudda’s confidence was awe inspiring. I loved her no nonsense small town American attitude. Maybe that’s ’cause I’m a no nonsense small town American.
Sarah Palin was electrifying. I have never had such an emotional rush watching a political speech. I am excited to campaign for them.
I’m driving to Michigan to get a McCain/Palin sign for my London, Ontario front yard. (Got to counter the Obama sign around the corner.)
What a lot of people don’t realize is that the majority of Americans do not live in the big cities, and most of us don’t want to live in a nanny state and be told bedtime stories by our candidates.
I’m calling my election commission tomorrow to make sure my absentee ballot gets to me.
It will be a shame if America chooses style over substance.
Howard Wolfson: “…sticking the knife into Obama with a smile.”
Sarahcudda. I believe America has just the future President
Rudy Guliani for Attorney General and maybe he can nail Marc Rich’s ass now that Clinton pardoned him.
I first heard about Mrs Palin a few months ago from a writer I respect. He spoke about her two attributes: the one from which she got the nickname Sarah Barracuda and the one from which she got Miss Congeniality. He then summed it up:
Fire and Nice.
Fire and Nice.
I watched live feed at http://www.gopconvention2008.com/videos/
She has done the job she suppose to do in very efficient way. In light of expectations would be fair to say: she was perfect.
However, I was under impression , that if she would be allowed to go off the message and be truly herself, Obama’s campaign could fold and go home in 5 minutes.
I was going to write that Sarah Palin “knocked it out of the Park”, but that doesn’t even come close!
I don’t think there can be ANY doubt about Ms Sarah’s ability to work “above her pay grade”, at 3AM or at anytime. I have this fleeting mental image of the MSM heads on sticks on the front lawn of the White House, and I don’t find it somehow offensive…
Palin did well, even earning some positive comments from CNN and CBC.
Haven’t seen her unscripted yet. Something PM Harper does very well, Obama does very average and Dion doesn’t do at all.
Who said that the next Reagan was going to be a man?
It’d be nice if she allows John the whole 4 years as pres… He wanted a successor – he’s got one.
The Progressives are going completely nuts on the Washington Post comment page; actually frothing at the mouth because they can see the writing on the wall. They hate her! Hate! Hate! It’s lovely. She’s lovely. She’s gonna whip their tiny little liberal asses.
She reminds me of the old SNL skit with Rumsfeld confronting a terrified White House press corps who were hiding under their chairs by the end of the press conference, with Rummy yelling:
“Questions! Questions! Have you got any more Questions! Come on! Somebody?”
Belinda Stronach looks somehow, I don’t know, less Prime Ministerial this evening.
It was a truly brilliant note-perfect, intellectually and emotionally engaging speech. Can’t think of a single shortcoming, a single criticism, which is very rare for this nitpicker.
Absolutely vaporized the “no experience” meme, and her allusions to the opponents’ denigration of small towns and their mayors, were perfect (and funny!) without being mean-spirited. Smart, sweet, but tough as nails, like our Kate!
And almost as much as the speech, I relished Jim Lehrer’s despair at the long and thunderous applause, his unavoidable assessment of the crowd’s raucous joy at the performance, and the talking head who opined that the Repub establishment will be relieved … now wait for it … at least for a day.
I have no doubt she will be POTUS one day.
I think the hockey mom just cross checked the Dalibama into the boards. I think I’m in love…
Women should be very, very proud! Outstanding!
Obviously not many journalists voted in this CTV poll.
Incredible speech.
And it was great to see the CNN pre-speech sneers turn into awestruck accolades.
The professional ladies, who are all leftists, are still trying to remain frozen, but everyone else was struck dumb. Wow.
That also ends Hillary Clinton’s plans for the White House. [And I think she knows this; Hillary has been remarkably silent about the MSM bashing of Palin.] Sarah Palin would make mincemeat of Hillary. And yes, it’s very possible that in four years, we’ll see Palin as President.
I love her. I really, really, love her. She was funny, articulate and tough without being shrill.
I want her in the White House for the next 4 years. I really do.
Bill should be getting his divorce papers any second now.
Hillaryforums: Shes Vetted!! LOL!
Inspired!
And inspiring!!!
‘Don’t get CNN so watched PBS: Most of the commentators were stunned–and it looked good on them. They were enthusiastic at the DNC last week; this week, they’re pale, not enthusiastic, and looking straight ahead trying not to cry.
David Brooks is the only good one in the bunch–and as for Shields, well, he just couldn’t get himself to say anything positive about Sarah. He and Gwen Ifel said that she had “belittled” Obama.
Well, duh. He’s only able to be belittled because he’s such a loud voice in an empty suit. Shields didn’t like the fact that Palin had taken on the Obamessiah’s “community service” or that she’d said the campaign to the White House wasn’t a journey in self-discovery. Boo hoo.
Sarah Palin was incredible. She’s determined, cool under fire (yeah, fire and nice), has a sense of humour, she’s focused, she’s knowledgeable–‘just the right person for VP of the U.S. of A.
She electrified the convention. Go, Sarah, go!
I suspect Sarah Palin is McCain’s ticket to the presidency, anyone of the former candidates just couldn’t bring the same brilliant message to the American people.
What a gem she is!
An American Margaret Thatcher clone!
I truly look forward to the vice-presidency debate.
From Instapundit: A reader emails: “New Sarah Palin Topic: Is Air Force One safe from E-bay?”
I believe America just met its next next President.
I sure hope the Republicans send a large cheque to the Dems and MSM for their recent attacks against Mrs. Palin. That is what made a lot of people tune in to hear her speak tonight.
I get the feeling that the post-mortem on an Obama/Palin debate will be:
“She razed a village.”
Hillaryforums: “We will all have to work hard to make sure these two special people are elected. We can’t just sit back and think Obama won’t try to cheat and lie his way to the Whitehouse. We deserve better than Obama/Biden!
Tee hee!
Helen Thomas will not be reporting for work tomorrow.
You could tell in the body language that she was very nervous. As we all know, anybody can make a speech…
She’s won round 1…on to the debates.
She epitomised grace under fire. What parent, after knowing how the media and left have attacked her family could stand so calmly in front on the crowd?Very strong.
One of her best lines was the swipe at the media:
(from memory…not an exact quote)
‘I’m not running to please the Washington media…I’ll be looking out for the American people.’
I know it’s crass but I couldn’t resist a photoshop spanking pic over this one.
I could hear Obama’s girl-screams from here.
Agent Smith sez, “I think I’m in love”. YES. But you know what: it’s the kind you could comfortably tell your wife about.
Someone mentioned Reagan. I started my small business at the very beginning of the Reagan era, and, I gotta tell you, I experienced the same emotions listening to Sarah Palin as I did the Great Gipper.
The Republicans were not destined to win this election. If they do, it will be one for the history books and McCain will be toasted as a poltical genius of the first rank.
