AB Deplorables

Do you live in Alberta and don’t support what the Notley NDP has done to your province? Then, according to David Eggen, the man responsible for deciding how Alberta children are taught, you’re not capable of “critical thinking”:

Eggen — the man responsible for shaping what our children must learn in Alberta schools — responded this way, as shown in the official legislative Hansard record: “Critical thinking is a very important part of being a member of a modern society. I know that the members opposite don’t like critical thinking because once people learn it, then they will be less likely to vote for the UCP.”

It’s unbecoming of any politician in the legislature to be so crass, but when it’s the governing party, which has a majority, it’s particularly disturbing to see such antipathy directed not just at members opposite but the population at large.

It’s most fascinating to hear a Leftist call others as incapable of critical thinking. And this, not from any run of the mill Man of the Left, but from a senior minister of one of the most incompetent provincial governments in recent memory. How much more damage would the Alberta NDP have to do before they would throw in the towel and say, “We finally admit, we don’t have any damn clue what we’re doing so we’re going to let those who do govern our province”?!?

Theresa May’s Britain

With the police in England expending all of their energy on offensive online activity, who could have predicted that something like this could ever happen:

More details

Interestingly enough, police representatives are now demanding that the police get the backing of the public. Should we, at SDA, compile a list of reasons why a bystander would be wary to get involved with helping the police against “youths” in Britain?

Leftist vs. Leftist

This video is a bit old, dating back to the Spring of 2017, but it’s just as apropos today. It features a segment from the TV show of Jimmy Dore, a definite man of the left, but one who doesn’t walk in lock-step with the official narrative of the Democrat Party. In this episode, Dore and his guests explore the obsession that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has with the Russia-Trump collusion theory, frequently referencing this piece by The Intercept. Dore explains how this obsession with Russia was merely a cover-up for the Democrats’ extreme incompetence during the 2016 election campaign and, in doing so, risks starting World War 3 with Russia. While the latter may indeed to hyperbole on the part of Dore, the fact is that blaming another group for your own foibles is a tried & true technique throughout history; one which often ends in disaster.

Why Leftists Need to Destroy Jordan Peterson

While watching this vidcast of Joe Rogan discussing the current state of politics, there was a reference to the recent longform interview of Jordan Peterson by the British feminist writer, Helen Lewis. Ms. Lewis is not a stupid person. She may be infected with really, really bad ideas but she’s not dumb. One could argue that she is a prime example of a top intellectual of the Left. And Jordan Peterson destroyed her in the debate that masqueraded as an interview. The Left, for all of their blather, fundamentally understand that their views do not hold up to scrutiny, to logic, or to serious debate. This is why they are so scared of Peterson and why their low-level shock troops want to ban him from speaking everywhere.

Here are the main highlights of the Lewis-Peterson discussion. It’s painfully uncomfortable to watch at at times, but it’s an important marker in the many decades long SJW vs. Traditional Society battle we’re now in the midst of.

Leftism’s Culture of Silence

Grab your favourite hot beverage and watch Carl Benjamin interview Brendan O’Neill:

In the 23rd minute is this insightful gem:

Benjamin: “I can’t help but hear Friedrich Hayek whenever we’re talking about a subject like this because he was very concerned with the concept of social planning, the idea that society should be managed and planned to ensure certain kinds of outcomes. When, in his opinion obviously, he thought people should be left to their own devices and trusted to be responsible adults and manage the society in their own personal way, productively. And this is exactly the problem that he was predicting almost 100 years ago now that we are actually genuinely seeing coming to fruition: a kind of technocratic, highly educated … so many middle class people, who have gone to university, got their degree in something quite asinine and you end up creating a bureaucratic class of technocrats who think they can actually manage the world to their liking.”

O’Neill: “Yes, which is terrifying. It’s absolutely terrifying. I mean, they genuinely think they can socially re-engineer people. They genuinely think that it’s their role to make us healthier, to make us more PC, to change our attitudes, to change what we think, to change how we speak. They really believe that! I mean, it’s astonishing. Can you imagine being so colossally arrogant that you would go out into the world and think, ‘Oh I have to correct the way these people think.'”

Benjamin: “Especially in your mid-twenties.”

O’Neill: “In your mid-twenties! It’s astonishing! It speaks to an extravagant sense of entitlement.”

Benjamin: “It’s messianic, isn’t it?!”

O’Neill: “I find it chilling. I would far rather live in a world in which there were dodgy opinions, and even a few racists, and people with difficult points of view than in a world where I presumed the moral authority to tell people what to think. I find that such a horrific idea.”

For historians, 20+ years in the future, this is an important interview that clearly documents the current state of oppressive Leftists around the world in 2018.
