In response to this posting, SDA regular John Robertson offered this astute comment:

If the tax paying citizens are paying attention, the days of big government are numbered.
Our high priced help turned out to be easily panicked, clueless and unprepared at the most basic levels, PPE and hospital beds.
The advice to the public, when you follow the time line, is idiotic and contradictory.
The shutdown was chaotic with no plan for returning to work.
The conditions for return keep changing.
And government and their minions never missed a meal nor a paycheck, while insisting those they feast upon stay imprisoned in their own homes, on pain of loss of even more wealth or freedom.
The daily dump of more imaginary monetary help for accredited Liberal friends is crazy.
There is no plan, no accounting and no clue as to how these funds will be repaid.
And there is no way in hell government will refuse to take taxes from those who did not accept their “help”.
So what good did our high priced help provide us when the hint of a real pandemic came along?
We are about to pay a very high price for next to no service. In fact, we are being forced to pay for people who encouraged panic and idiocy instead of logic and reason.
And the pleasure with which our fools and bandits seized upon the “power of an emergency” to display their chops as miny tyrants should not have gone unnoticed.
If we recover.
But why should I help?
The rate of theft is guaranteed to become ever more.
To pay for those clearly identified as useless and clueless, as well as being hostile and dangerous to all productive activity.
Barter.

Leftists: America’s Dystopian Nightmare

Remember the good old days when Democrats cared about free speech, the rule of law, civil liberties, and due process? Those are ancient times for the political movement that now embraces guilty no matter what, cancel culture, and a totalitarian one-party state that decides all.

In his most recent essay, Matt Taibbi connects several dots to expose 2020 Leftists for what they truly have become:

Whatever one’s opinion of Flynn, his relations with Turkey, his “Lock her up!” chants, his haircut, or anything, this case was never about much. There’s no longer pretense that prosecution would lead to the unspooling of a massive Trump-Russia conspiracy, as pundits once breathlessly expected. In fact, news that Flynn was cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller inspired many of the “Is this the beginning of the end for Trump?” stories that will someday fill whole chapters of Journalism Fucks Up 101 textbooks.

Warrantless surveillance, multiple illegal leaks of classified information, a false statements charge constructed on the razor’s edge of Miranda, and the use of never-produced, secret counterintelligence evidence in a domestic criminal proceeding – this is the “rule of law” we’re being asked to cheer.

The same mistake is now being made with civil liberties. Millions have lost their jobs and businesses by government fiat, there’s a clamor for censorship and contact tracing programs that could have serious long-term consequences, yet voters only hear Trump making occasional remarks about freedom; Democrats treat it like it’s a word that should be banned by Facebook (a recent Washington Post headline put the term in quotation marks, as if one should be gloved to touch it). Has the Trump era really damaged our thinking to this degree?

The Experts at Work

Gov. Cuomo admits he was wrong to order nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has finally admitted — tacitly and partially, anyway — the mistake that was state health chief Howard Zucker’s order that nursing homes must admit coronavirus-positive patients.

On Sunday, Cuomo announced a new regulation: Such patients must now test negative for the virus before hospitals can return them to nursing homes. Yet the gov also admitted that COVID-19 cases might still go to the facilities via other routes, and didn’t explicitly overrule Zucker’s March 25 mandate that homes must accept people despite their testing status — indeed, couldn’t even require a test pre-admission.

Keep this “brilliant expertise” in mind when you read about the explanations as to why Southern California is being kept shut down for another 3 months.

Greg Anderson: The Bravest Police Officer in America

This Instagram video has gone viral:

Officer Greg Anderson has now been reprimanded and is at risk of being fired. If you can afford it, you can contribute to his legal defense fund.

Most people in America & Canada have never given much thought to where the police get their authority from. Clearly it’s from the government. And where does the government get its authority? In America, at least, it’s from the people. But even in Canada, the people can only be pushed so far.

“The thin blue line” refers to the tiny percentage of police officers vs. the number of citizens. Law & Order is a very fragile tacit agreement between the authorities and the majority of the population. Events in recent weeks have clearly shown an infringement of that agreement by the authorities. They’ve gone too far under the guise of “safety” and “for the public good”.

Time for a little Tech Talk

Do you know who Neil Ferguson is? You should. His data models are a big reason why the UK is currently locked down and arguably assisted the “experts” in Canada and America to encourage the political leaders there to do the same. He is currently infamous for his hypocritical sex exploits but there’s a much bigger scandal afoot.

Looking back, Ferguson’s data models predicted huge deaths in America and the UK:

Give Neil Ferguson a break. Nearly two weeks ago Mr. Ferguson, an epidemiologist with Imperial College London, issued a report on Covid-19. Much of the public attention focused on his worst-case projection that there might as many as 2.2 million American and 510,000 British deaths. Fewer paid attention to the caveat that this was “unlikely,” and based on the assumption that nothing was done to control it.

When these predictions proved to be wrong by orders of magnitude, many suggested that it was because of the lockdowns and shelters-in-place that we averted a disaster. Maybe. But now another strong possibility is coming to light: The software code that Ferguson et al wrote and used to make these predictions is … crap. Absolute garbage spaghetti code that any first year Computer Science student would get an ‘F’ on.

To be clear, Ferguson’s original code is currently unavailable but a derivation of it, “upgraded for over a month by a team from Microsoft and others”, is somewhat of an improvement. Here’s what was said about the original code:

If you know anything about writing software, then you instantly know that a single code file with 15,000 lines is beyond lunacy/incompetence.

If you’re so inclined, get yourself a free copy of VS Code and then clone the git repo. The critical file you’ll want to examine is CovidSim.cpp.

A New Low for Journalists

We’ve long known about #FakeNews from Leftist “journalists” but one of them truly has hit a new low:

So she decided to do something about it, and joined hundreds of like-minded Pennsylvanians to at the Reopen PA rally in Downtown Pittsburgh on April 20th. As a result, Jill’s photo, which displayed her holding a sign that clearly read “FREE SMALL BUSINESS,” appeared in numerous publications, including the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

As expected, those photos made their way across the Internet in a flash, including one specific one shared by Post-Gazette photographer Andrew Rush to his Twitter account. However, within just over a week, that photo made it elsewhere; specifically to the Twitter account of a disgraced ex-New Yorker staffer named Talia Lavin, a radical, left-wing ideologue whose “journalistic pursuits” led to a forced resignation from her aforementioned employer in 2018 after fabricating a story in which she accused an ICE agent of having a Nazi tattoo.

Just a few days ago, Ms. Lavin proved, once again, that old habits die hard when she shared a doctored photo of Jill holding a sign that, instead of “FREE SMALL BUSINESS,” read “WORK SETS YOU FREE,” which she was quick to note translates to “arbeit macht frei,” a common term used among Nazis during World War II. She then accused Jill of harboring mutual sentiments with white supremacists, writing that “this [the wording on the sign in the doctored photo] is intentional.”

Thanks to the investigative work of Andy Ngo, the truth has been revealed.

Ms. Lavin is still tweeting. No shame. No second thoughts. No feelings of guilt. Is Leftism a political belief or a brain disease?

You Know How We’ve Been Told for Years that Fathers Serve No Purpose?

Some now choose to loudly disagree:

For all intents and purposes, a mother’s job with her son is over by the time he’s around 11 years of age. At that point, the boy’s father becomes critical. It’s in the second half of a boy’s life when he learns what it means to be a man. He will fail to learn this if his father is absent or when his mother doesn’t let go of the reigns.

A mother can’t teach her son to be a man. She’s indispensable to him when he’s young, but his father is indispensable when he’s older. It’s simply unreasonable to expect these boys to become the men that boys with strong fathers become. They just won’t.

Hey Kidz, Look at all of the Fun Things the Dear Leader of California Has Permitted!
