Thank you for posting this video, I was 13 in 1965 when The Sound of Music was in the movie theatres. I had hoped to visit Salzburg sometime – the closest I got was a cruise on the Danube in 2016. The past 10 years have not been kind to Europe and I do not think I will be back.
I JUST watched the video. Truly amazing. And who knew they would film a real-time travelogue of a cast member from the Sound of Music … so professionally produced. OTOH … if I were a cameraman in 1965 … I’d volunteer to follow Charmain Carr all around Salzburg 😉 … although Angela Cartwright was more my age at the time.
And I’m left stunned by the incredible beauty of a city white Westerners created. And the music … the absolute pinnacle of musical genius. Stunningly beautiful.
I’ve never been, and sadly I can no longer see the 1965 version of Salzburg … but it’s still on my list … I just hope those organs haven’t been replaced by minarets chanting the call to Muslim prayer.
