Elbow Up Canadians are NOT Nice People

Traveling around America, I constantly hear the following: “Oh, you’re Canadian? All Canadians are so nice!” I pause and then politely explain that this simply isn’t true any more amongst many Canadians.

I’ve found something online that perfectly illustrates this. Take a look at this photo:

Do you feel an immediate sense of red hot anger and hate? You probably don’t, because you’re not a lunatic. Here is a woman in Ontario whose tagline is: “A Secular Humanist Defending Democracy who will never Obey in Advance💙I have Severe TDS and Proud of it💙The only good Nazi is a dead Nazis💙WokeAF”

Imagine being so arrogant that, as a blonde white woman, you see fit to tell the Prime Minister of Japan that she has a lack of moral principles. Why? Because your brain is infected with severe TDS and any moral bearings you may have once had are completely gone.

At the risk of having you all hate me, here’s an Alfred Hitchcat Tribute. Doubling down, here’s Indiana Jonesy

Bonus: This is a Tech PSA of sorts, which will hopefully help someone: Yesterday, I received a call from an elderly friend in Toronto. He had been trying to get his printer working with his Windows 10 laptop. I’m not sure how it happened, but a window popped up and someone appearing to be a female customer service agent asked him what was wrong. That lead to either he calling a number “she” gave him or them calling him. Anyhow, some guy named “Mark” offered to help my friend. Mark convinced him to go to some website, enter a code, which allowed Mark to get control of his laptop. Mark apparently ran some tests and told my friend that because there were too many people on the Internet in his area, that’s why he couldn’t print on his own printer. Of course, that’s nonsense. Then Mark asked for $150 payment. My friend immediately called me. I ended calling the number he was given, one supposedly in El Paso, Texas. Some sketchy guy with a thick Indian accent answered, asked me what my “good name” was, and I immediately realized (strongly suspected) that my friend had been scammed. My biggest concern is that “Mark” may have placed some spy software on the computer, which could now be monitoring every keyboard press and mouse click. I don’t have enough technical expertise to know whether McAfee AntiVirus or Windows Defender can prevent spy software from being installed if someone has direct access to your computer. So everyone, do not ever let any stranger have access to your computer or phone … unless you’re absolutely certain you can trust them. And do try to protect the elderly friends & family members in your life.

What Exactly Has Mark Carney Done for Canadians So Far?

Yesterday, I received a call from a longtime friend in Vancouver. He has a medium level TDS infection, unlike his brother, who has full blown TDS. This fellow is the King of Middle of the Road. His constant refrain is to not be too extreme in either direction. I would generally applaud this except for one thing: He is conveniently ignorant about the Radical Left constantly moving the Overton Window in their direction. Because he and his ilk don’t have a spine to ever push back (it would be too extreme in his mind), Vancouver and B.C. continue to drift leftward into oblivion.

We got to a point in the conversation where he pronounced that Trump is horrible and Carney is doing fine. I started getting nauseous from this blathering so I interrupted his rant and said: “Please name just one thing that Mark Carney has done in the best interest of the Canadian people.” He couldn’t name anything. He went on with a series of “ifs” that will take a year or two from now to determine if Carney has succeeded. I agreed that if all of those positive things he mentioned come to fruition, Carney will have done great things for Canada. Until then, I view Carney as chief blowhard and word salad maestro of Canada, very reminiscent of Obama.

But, in fairness, I did ask Grok to list Carney’s accomplishments as Canadian PM and it returned this.

What is your take on Carney’s tenure as PM so far?

P.S. It’s not clear how my friend would react to the comments about Carney here.

You Don’t Hate the Media Nearly Enough

If you ever thought that CBC News was the only propaganda arm of the Lieberals, let me introduce you to CTV’s Marcia MacMillan:

Adventures in AI

As a self-employed software engineer, I use AI daily to help with my work. But I use it in a very targeted way and with a heavy skepticism I call “Don’t Trust and Heavily Verify”. This is the opposite of “vibe coding” where the developer is simply typing sentences into the AI and getting it to do everything behind the scenes with little to no verification of the resulting code.

So, while I do appreciate what modern AI is capable of doing, I also realize that it’s a magic trick of sorts; a very impressive magic trick to be sure, but one must understand the limits of AI and realize that it’s not actually thinking. In fact, it doesn’t actually know ahead of time what the next word in its response will be displayed. That is determined on the fly by a huge probability tree.

There are two new videos on this subject that are well worth watching but, for some background, please read about the recent failures of AI at Amazon.

Here’s the first video and here’s the second.

Iranian Assassination in British Columbia?

On February 2, 2026, an SFU professor went missing. A man and a woman have now been charged with his murder:

First-degree murder charges have been laid against two people in connection to the death of Masood Masjoody, a former SFU instructor and outspoken critic of the Iranian regime.

The charges were laid against 48-year-old Maple Ridge man Mehdi Ahmadzadeh Razavi and 45-year-old North Vancouver woman Arezou Soltani on Saturday morning.

The pair is accused of killing Masjoody, 45, who was reported missing on Feb. 2.

Burnaby RCMP launched an investigation after “receiving reports from concerned neighbours,” and soon determined that Masjoody’s disappearance was out of character and involved criminality, according to a news release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Saturday.

Just another terrible murder to the casual reader. But Mahyar Tousi, a well known Iranian ex-pat and podcaster in Britain, is reporting that Masood Masjoody was assassinated. Watch and decide.
