True, Trump pushed for the early development. But he was in the dark with Fauci just like the rest of us. I suspect he wants Fauci criminalized but I think (the fake autopen pardon notwithstanding) the crimes Fauci did are past the statute of limitations.

My limited understanding is he cant take the fifth and has to answer. Maybe he simply doesnt answer and gets only charged with contempt. Not sure how it works
