Greta The Magical Retard*
Thunberg garnered global fame as she led a youth movement by skipping school to protest inaction on climate change in her home country of Sweden. Her small protest turned into a global demonstration where thousands of students skipped school to demonstrate on behalf of the planet.
Her demonstrations earned her both fame and a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.
As part of her global campaign, Thunberg decided she would visit the United States to speak with lawmakers and activists about her goals related to protecting the planet. The problem for Thunberg, however, was that flying across the Atlantic typically involves a carbon-producing flight.
I’ll let you guess the ending.

chinese PLA troops move into Hong Kong at 4am and call it a ‘normal rotation’. Funny, cameras didn’t pick up the troops that ‘rotated’ out. Do they think HKers are stupid? Emergency Regulations Ordinance coming soon…#HKexit #lamblies #chinalies https://t.co/x95FaXlGCi

Some of the jobs probably moving to countries like Taiwan and Vietnam.
Think about this for a moment:
1) China loses jobs, and thus economic clout and expansion money. Some Chinese workers likely become unemployed…while China is having some food supply problems (true extent unknown to me).
2) Chinese jobs move to other countries that we can get along great with, such as Taiwan. Taiwan grows economy, becomes tighter with USA, and buys US goods (including weapons) as economy increases. US weapons can be used to blunt China’s false claims in Taiwan.
3) Taiwan and others buying more US goods (including weapons) increases American jobs and economy, which helps fund “the wall.”
Win win win for the good guys and gals. Lose lose lose for CCP.

I rolled in early this afternoon after two days of slow ass travel across Hellway 17 in Ontario and US #2. Not fun. As expected, I had nearly no internet access while gone, so I know basically nothing of the last week or so of current events and I’m not sorry about it, either. I had fun showing dogs, and did lots of winning.
That said, the next six weeks holds a heavy work load along with more travel. The blog will be taking a bit of a back seat from time to time, but that’s just the way it’s got to be.
Oh, and Ontario? This is what a 90km highway looks like in Saskatchewan (as seen through the bugs gathered near Devil’s Lake, ND). I think you can let people pick up the pace a little out there.

Ross McKitrick made the same argument over a decade ago: Why Should We Trust A Statistic That Might Not Even Exist?
“Discussions on global warming often refer to ‘global temperature.’ Yet the concept is thermodynamically as well as mathematically an impossibility,” says Science Daily, paraphrasing Bjarne Andresen, a professor at the University of Copenhagen’s Niels Bohr Institute, one of three authors of a paper questioning the “validity of a ‘global temperature.’”
“The temperature obtained by collecting measurements of air temperatures at a large number of measuring stations around the globe, weighing them according to the area they represent, and then calculating the yearly average according to the usual method of adding all values and dividing by the number of points.”
But a “temperature can be defined only for a homogeneous system,” says Andresen. The climate is not regulated by a single temperature. Instead, “differences of temperatures drive the processes and create the storms, sea currents, thunder, etc. which make up the climate”.

The Sound Of Settled Science
… has found winters in northern China have been warming since 4,000BC – regardless of human activity – but the mainland scientists behind the research warn there is no room for complacency or inaction on climate change, with the prospect of a sudden global cooling also posing a danger.
The study found that winds from Arctic Siberia have been growing weaker, the conifer tree line has been retreating north, and there has been a steady rise in biodiversity in a general warming trend that continues today. It appears to have little to do with the increase in greenhouse gases which began with the industrial revolution, according to the researchers.
Lead scientist Dr Wu Jing, from the Key Laboratory of Cenozoic Geology and Environment at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said the study had found no evidence of human influence on northern China’s warming winters.

I’m on the road this week and will be camped out in a park until Monday, followed by a 3,000 km drive home. If the blog posts trickle to a halt, go find something else to do. Summer’s nearly over, get out and enjoy it. I’ll be back by late Wednesday, maybe Thursday.

“There is no evidence that we are in the midst of an epidemic of mass shootings.”
At Reason: (podcast)
Northeastern University criminologist James Alan Fox, the leading researcher on the topic for the past 35 years, tells Reason, “There is no evidence that we are in the midst of an epidemic of mass shootings.” The number of incidents and casualties are simply too small to make such claims and, he stresses, the media coverage of shootings often ends up creating a false sense that gun violence—which is at or near historic lows—is ubiquitous and growing.
