As such, we delude ourselves that as long we’re outside that circle, we’re relatively safe (of course, wearing “the mask”!). And as everyone knows, defend yourself beyond hiding under the bed and you are probably facing both civil and criminal charges. I think my wife has made her peace with the fact that I will crack the head open of anyone who threatens our little corner, at risk of injury, death or prison. It’s a nice corner, mind you!

Just re-read Freakonomics” after 20 years. It still holds up. The last chapter is about what effect parenting, whether good or bad has on a child’s path in life. The author noted that black parents (starting in the late 80’s) give their children “interesting” names like “Sheethead” and AMEMER (the name of the emergency department at one hospital). The girl children always end up with names from Africa (whether they really are African names is debatable).
Sadly, you can tell a lot from a person’s name.
I was going to agree, but all the person has to do is qualify as white. So for example, the American stats count white hispanics as white when they commit a crime, but hispanic when they are the victim of crimes.
