Speech by Jacques Chirac, Nov. 2000;
For the first time, humanity is instituting a genuine instrument of global governance, one that should find a place within the World Environmental Organisation which France and the European Union would like to see established.
Global Carbon Tax Urged at UN Climate Conference, Dec. 2007;
A panel of UN participants on Thursday urged the adoption of a tax that would represent “a global burden sharing system, fair, with solidarity, and legally binding to all nations.”
“Finally someone will pay for these [climate related] costs,” Othmar Schwank, a global tax advocate, told Inhofe EPW Press Blog following the panel discussion titled “A Global CO2 Tax.” Schwank is a consultant with the Switzerland based Mauch Consulting firm
Schwank said at least “$10-$40 billion dollars per year” could be generated by the tax, and wealthy nations like the U.S. would bear the biggest burden based on the “polluters pay principle.”
Local Transport Today (UK), Dec. 2007;
Hillman, senior fellow emeritus at the Policy Studies Institute, says carbon rationing is the only way to ensure that the world avoids the worst effects of climate change. And he says that the problems caused by burning fossil fuels are so serious that governments might have to implement rationing against the will of the people.
“When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it,” he says. “This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Emphasis mine.

If you haven’t read C.S. Lewis’s The Abolition of Man, do. He foresaw all of this 60 years ago.
I found an invitation to sign a petition against Harper in my mailbox!!!
Too bad it was not over the phone I would have told them I am a conservative and Harper has my support!
The email I received was in French ( French is my first language, I’m in the Montreal region) with the title ” Dissociez vous de Harper” which means more or less dissociate yourself from Harper…
Out of curiosity I went to their website and …they already have 192,000 signatures…
Anyone curious? Here is the address

“About the Policy Studies Institute; conducting research to promote economic well-being and improve quality of life”.
This should be clear warning to decent people everywhere that somebody is actually making a living (paid by whom?) to tell them what to do with their money, to tell them what ‘well being’ is, how to live their actual life. After all they claim to know better. Why? Because.
Improve quality of life? The PSI would not know what quality of life is if it hit them right between the eyes.
Of course the fascizoids at the PSI do not really care one way or another as long as there is some cash in the process.
Working in one of the biggest corporations in Canada, there was a time when ‘reengineering’ was all the rage. It was a new age, so to speak. A new way of doing business.
So in order to have a job you had to write a case, where you would state, what is it that you do that is useful to the company. So far as being useful, not problem. The thing though was, the office crowd would come with all kind of newspeak stuff. The most powerful word to use in order to significantly improve your chances at being ahead of the crowd was ‘safety’; you could go no wrong if you incorporated the word into your spiel. The money would be always there for your job.
This is the same with PSI and other non wealth creating entities that are firmly attached to the teat of the government. They write a case and the decision makers in order to be with the times will go along with what ever, while having no idea what the hell is going on.
So if those that make the final decision read what Hillman and company came up with and are sufficiently impressed with the syntax, democracy be damned.
Wouldn’t be Patrick Moore, eh Ron?
Did not the Eco-extrmists vandalize his families fish farming enterprise?
As well as many others?
Funny how the Leftards turn to violence when they cannot support their opiniions and arguments with fact.
Isn’t saying something is so good it must be imposed even if the people don’t like it one of the hallmarks of facism? Or maybe it was totalitarianism. Or perhaps it was communism.
Either way, anything with the words “solidarity” and “fair” in it are bound to be bad news.
I remember my school was selling “fair trade” chocolate bars once. They cost about 3 dollars. while a Hershey bar of similar size cost about $1.20. And they were selling them to the students.
“A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources,” said Emma Brindal, a climate justice campaigner coordinator for Friends of the Earth”
“Former Colorado Senator Tim Wirth reportedly said in 1990, “We’ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing — in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.“
Limbaugh is 100% correct: the desolated marxists moved from the collapse of the soviet union to the international environmental movement. This, per the above link and quotes, is nothing short of a New World Order, with hardcore socialism as its goal. Reports like this from Bali must be shared and debated (non-hysterically) with all rational “thinking” individuals, unless we’re all willing to see our quality of life disappear.
And that’s what the Maurice Strongs, Gores and Suzukis of the world would demand: radical changes to everyone else’s life but theirs, as they are members of the “elite”.
It’s time to wake up, Canada. Time is running out.

Bruce, this is all news to me. I am unaware of any fish farm owned by Moore or his family. I have never heard of any vandalism against fish farms. Do you have any news clippings to link to?
Looks like another hole in the fabric of AWG.

Kate, that’s a particularly useful link you posted from the US Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works. Follow the links at the bottom and there is a wealth of info available to those needing more facts/figures to sensibly debunk AGW with the eco-maniacs.
Of particular interest is the link entitled “Skeptic’s Guide to Debunking Global Warming”; follow it and download a 68-page document that’ll come in handy when playing down the hysteria of AGW.

I sure hope PMSH and his cohorts are reading these blogs. I personally think he would win with a majority. It’s about time the politician has the people in mind. If it came to a referendum I do believe that it would be a strong majority of NO on the Global Greenhouse Gas objective. How much can you tax the people of Canada to support their system with no controls.
These F***ED UP programs that are supporting people who are sucking the money out of the system has to be stopped. I have never been a government worker on any program that has doled out the dollar with no showing of, ETHICS, HONESTY, INTEGRITY or even PRIDE.
I think that for every tax dollar that the UN think that we owe them that the Government would put it towards our Armed Forces. We may have to protect our borders from these Left Wing Idiots.

David, the Moore’s have been, I do not know if they still are involved in fish farming and yes the vandalism occured in several areas on the coast, consisting of enviro-thugs cutting net pens, under the cover of darkness, releasing fish, to which they then claimed were threatening wild stocks.
I know, because I used to be involved in the industry in the late eighties, early nineties.
Here’s a clipping and a link David.
Moore’s new interest in sustainable development led him increasingly far afield of the rest of the environmental movement and estranged him from the organization he had helped found. Inspired by Elizabeth Mann Borgese’s book Seafarm, he started a salmon farm and became head of the fledgling Salmon Farmer’s Association – only to find himself pitted against Greenpeace, which blamed saltwater aquaculture for polluting the ocean.
In 1991, as his farm was going under due to a salmon glut, he joined the board of the Forest Alliance of British Columbia, a group created by the timber industry to address the accusations of environmentalists. There, he saw his role as a mediator. He proudly points to his stubborn – and ultimately successful – insistence that the industry soften its resistance to national parks and government regulation. At the same time, however, he was attacking the eco crowd, proclaiming that “clear-cuts are temporary meadows.”

Talk about the naked leftist political agenda. What Hillman said are nothing less than fighting words. The fight Hillman wants is the same one that Karl Marx wrote about involving “working class” people crushing the bourgeoisie.
The “narrow minded” ideals of the bourgeoisie are easy enough to recognize…as those celebrating individual freedom enshrined within the American Declaration of Independence.
It’s individual freedom that’s at stake and a world government needing to take it in order to fully emerge. The words of Hillman are a brutal cold insult to those families that sacrificed in the name of freedom…most notably during the great wars but also including the other of a myraid of fights undertaken by western nations against terror and tyranny.
If scum like him are left unchallenged then it’s only a matter of time before their words turn into future laws and those laws turn into the next great social experiment courtesy of the “Communist Manifesto”. The ‘dozers will come soon enough to bury the dead Hillman and his ilk are so keen to bring about.
Little Hitlers, every one of them.
The globe is cooling!
Gotta stop it now.

Scary stuff.
This is what the eee-vil guns in amendment #2 are for.
Can someone provide the missing corroboration for the HIllman IPS quote on CO2 rationing? First Name? Where and when uttered?
Send to john@ethanallen.org
Many thanks
My apologies for the last request – the link to the original source was there and I missed it.
I have a hot poker for Mayer Hillman, whether he likes it or not.
Work will set you free.
“When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it,” he says. “This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Didn’t somebody try and tax the world before – Caesar Agustus, the Roman Emperor – though it was not a committee that decided. This tax on all humans had to be tried again and the UN is the organization to do it. It needs the money to have more control over population of the world – just like the Liberals want to control Canada again.
I say that those who SUPPORT Global Warming should pay. This new religion has many followers that do not look at the proof of opposing views. Gore refuses to debate his views with real climate scientests – and the same for David Z.
It will never work since the biggest polluters – China, India etc. – have the most population, therefore Billions would come from them alone. Canada is right in saying unless the biggest polluter also are involved in Global Warming, then it is a waste of time and money. Canada should stay their course and fight pollution and the big industries that pollute should try to get emissions in place to meet the standards. The other industries – other than oil – also pollute and should be held accountabe and fight pollution of not only tyjhe air but soil and water also.
I wonder how the Global Warming supporters have to say about the blizzaed that hit Central and Eastern Canada. I hope the get another one soon, and to save the planet Albberta should tell them that because of emissions from furnaces in the East we will cut off the gas supply to save the earth. I also wonder if Talaban Jack and Dion paid for carbon credits – also those extreem enviromentalists – on their tropical holiday.
“This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Pretty much says it all, eh? Alarms me how often I hear this these days, on a variety of subjects. I’d much rather hear “Sink or swim, y’bastard!” More choice involved. Besides, I can swim.
“Pardon me for being emotional. But we are dealing with real evil here. Current temperature in St. John’s, -13 deg C.”
You have been subjected to “emocracy” then, (rule by emotions, the new world order). Emocratists use your emotions to rule over you….” oh, but think of the children”, or doe-eyed pictures of baby seals, or orphaned third world kids, or the seas will rise, or the ice caps will melt. Fight it man! The future of freedom, free thinking and the democratic way rests with YOU!
Quote of the day
“When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it. This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Great quote. And here’s the context. (Hat tip: Small Dead Animals)…-

Please, Mr. Gore. If you are so convinced that your global warming “theories” are correct, have or sponsor a debate, to which you have already been challenged, with those climatologists with a true understanding of climate change. Despite your statements that the issue is settled, many learned people don’t agree (even those not working for oil companies). But I suspect that such an open debate will not happen because Mr. Gore fears the truth.
Hillman is dead in the water. Unenforceable policy is no policy at all.
The new flood of Zero emission has started here in BC.
www2.news.gov.bc.ca/news_releases_2005-2009/2007TRAN0054-001543.htm
This allows the sales in BC of Quebec made Zenn NEVs and made in Delta Dynasty NEVs. All battery, no tailpipe vehicles.
Hydrogen Buses and fleets are on the march here in BC as well. Liquid hydrogen will be shipped from a plant in Quebec for a fleet of buses that will run *shake down* mode in Victoria before going into service at Whistler.
greencarcongress.com/2007/12/bc-finalizes-hy.html#comments
Hydrogen seems painfully expensive at first, but the number crunchers have proven economy of scale so governments in most countries are feeding in the seed money. Seems to make sense for heavy bus and truck fleets at least. = TG
The climate change fearmongers don’t speak for Gaia, the earth goddess. She has a great affection for carbon dioxide because her plant kingdom thrives on it. Climate change? No big deal she says. Been there, done that.
