  1. Reminded me of watching a dear childhood friend’s first launch as a shuttle pilot, about three decades ago. It was a nighttime launch and we were about four miles away in the VIP seating. You could feel the sound waves hit your body, like being at the start line of a top fuel drag race when the green light lit up. Incredible!

  2. I use to launch rockets with my son from the school grounds when the school was out for the summer. Huge field with plenty of room. The model had a parachute that would deploy on descent. Sure, not the same roaring vibe, but it was, literally, a BLAST!

    1. I think everybody enjoys rocket launches. As an addendum, my daughter had to design and build a form of a trebuchet in Grade 8 Science class. As I knew how to draft, I showed her how to do the drawings and helped her in my workshop. The test was very successful and attracted a lot of small boys and their fathers to see it done over and over again. There is something deeply satisfying about trebuchets – perhaps that is why they were so popular as medieval weapons of mass destruction!

      1. My newest part Japanese granddaughter has a Japanese name that starts with an ‘R’ … so I jokingly asked if I should pronounce it as an ‘L’ … and her mom said … might as well … all her Japanese relatives will.

  3. I can’t get enough of these launches. There’s a few YouTubers who cover not only the launches, but also all the technical stuff/engineering, future plans, etc but I like this channel best (“What About It?”). Weekly updates typically. “Felix” has a lot of infectious enthusiasm and seems really knowledgeable about all things SpaceX (and other launch companies’ efforts). Really entertaining.

    1. even if he did have extensive engineering background he is STILL primarily an entrepreneur.
the linch pin. who ‘puts it all together’. the final step before glorious success, odds of which hinge on all manner of variables, constant tweeking, timing, and luck. but always the RISK TAKER.
as such ftw is the ‘problem’ with *that* individual taking a big chunk of the proceeds which many times merely finances a future endeavour? do they *really* keep it all in cash and jump into the pile like scrooge mcduck?

OR is it deposits in a bank, available for a host of lenders to mimic the success? or in stocks propping up companies?
