Speech by Jacques Chirac, Nov. 2000;
For the first time, humanity is instituting a genuine instrument of global governance, one that should find a place within the World Environmental Organisation which France and the European Union would like to see established.
Global Carbon Tax Urged at UN Climate Conference, Dec. 2007;
A panel of UN participants on Thursday urged the adoption of a tax that would represent “a global burden sharing system, fair, with solidarity, and legally binding to all nations.”
“Finally someone will pay for these [climate related] costs,” Othmar Schwank, a global tax advocate, told Inhofe EPW Press Blog following the panel discussion titled “A Global CO2 Tax.” Schwank is a consultant with the Switzerland based Mauch Consulting firm
Schwank said at least “$10-$40 billion dollars per year” could be generated by the tax, and wealthy nations like the U.S. would bear the biggest burden based on the “polluters pay principle.”
Local Transport Today (UK), Dec. 2007;
Hillman, senior fellow emeritus at the Policy Studies Institute, says carbon rationing is the only way to ensure that the world avoids the worst effects of climate change. And he says that the problems caused by burning fossil fuels are so serious that governments might have to implement rationing against the will of the people.
“When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it,” he says. “This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Emphasis mine.

Of course Al Gore and Suzuki being royalty will be exempt from any such cute themselves.
They sure don’t like democracy if they have a good case, stop the lies, hypocrisy and tell us. Oh and show your source data, for once.
If they come up with more scientists than the OISM then I’ll start to take heed.
In a perverse sort of way this may be a good thing. Not the crazy policies like rationing, global taxes and of course the still whispered population control but the fact that these proponents are bringing them forward. My hope is that once people are faced with the true cost and horror of the true agenda then they will see the movement for what it is….a new tool of removing freedom. National freedom, economic freedom, consumer freedom and reproductive freedom to name a few.
Well, at least they are admitting it now. The rights of human beings
There seems little doubt that the bureaucracies and ‘chattering classes’ of the world have latched on to the ‘control’ of the cyclical warming of the Earth (what little that is measurable); and are holding on for dear life. This as a means of control and as a wealth redistribution tool. Democracy is the last thing these control freaks want. I think this is one of the reason that these same people hate Pres. Bush so badly as it has been his stated goal to spawn democracy throughout the world.
Hmmmm, when you use the less than sign it appears that things get lost.
Add a less than sign above and then add the rights of fruit flys
” polluters pay principle ” ….
anyone run this by China , India , Brazil or the Sovs ?
All I have to say to the international socialists (i.e. communists) who are masquerading behind “Glowball Worming” is….BRING IT ON…I dare you to try it.
The entire might on the United States military will reign down on your pointy head.
“This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Of course the key questions are:
1. On Whom? and,
2. By Whom, i.e., who gets to be the Imposers?
“This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
How does this sentiment differ from the agenda of radical Islam?
Gun control:
“Let them shoot on the spot every tenth man guilty of idleness.” – V. I. Lenin … “Merciless war against these kulaks! Death to them!” – V. I. Lenin …
“whether they like it or not.”
(marxwords.blogspot)
With the small amount of CO2 Canada puts into the atmosphere we should probably get money back from China India etc. Mo Strong and crew will be pi$$ed
The UN is such a joke, time to cut off all funding from the U.S., Canada, Britain, Australia and New Zealand, kick them out of New York and then the Eurosocialists can deal with their communist agenda on their own.
Maurice Strong’s vision of a one world government created through the back door of global warming is never going to happen.
The UN is nothing but a den of thieves, Uncle MO and the OIl for Food Scandal, etc.
“When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it,” he says.”
To me, a world under the jack boot of a socialist world government under the control of the scum at the UN and world’s elites, is the end of life on earth!
Reminds me of the ancient witch doctors who used their knowledge of the natural cycles of the sun and ecliplses to control and rule the ignorant masses with fear of “annhialtion” if they did not pay gold and jewels and their first born sons to “appease” the earth Gods.
What’s ancient is new again.
Right. If the Loopy Left Dregs in the UN want to get nasty with their key suppliers of cash, let’s cut them off. It’s long past time the absolute Phony and PARASITE, Moe Strong was pulled up by the short and curlies and made an example of. He’s been troughing for far too long.
They really have never heard the old adage, never look a gift horse in the mouth. They’ve done that, let’s Bite them.
Further,
The closer we get to these global control freaks getting their way, the close we come to a global civil war that will go on forever.
Whatever civility is on this planet now, will vanish as we enter a new age of guerrilla warfare where the will of the oppressors will battle the will of freedom lovers. That war will make the Islamic Jihad look like a football game and it will be a multi generational effort.
It’s a good thing a lot of Canadians buried their guns instead of registering them. They will be digging them up sooner rather than later as things are heating up in world today.
The Americans will only need to go their gun racks to get theirs.
I tells ya a storm is coming and it has nothing to do with global warming, but rather, the political ideology behind it.
Looking outside at the snowstorm right now, the concept of dropping a neutron bomb on Bali to wipe-out all the lefty AGW-worshipping parasites in one fell swoop sounds really, really appealing. Call it preventative cleansing of the gene pool with a bang.
Friggin’ morons….
We need a carbon registry.
We should be able to come up with one for about $2,000,000.
It should be obvious that the agenda of those collectivists has never been protecting the environment. It’s all about power, control and coercion. With ‘them’ of course running roughshod over us.
‘Rationing’ never worked. Isn’t that what they had in the USSR? It only leads to corruption and influence trafficking.
to organise our collective sovereignty over this planet
Jacques Chirac made that a “declaration of WAR” in his 2000 speach
Those supporting “Command & Control by the UN” are engaging in sedition. One can only hope that the CIA was active & engaged in Bali
The Socialist Economists want to pay for Carbon Credits by raiding Pension Plans (Cash for worthless Carbon Credits) I guess Companies that
have underfunded plans could buy credits @ .01 per $1. The UN plan would give them a generation before those then retiring found the BANK empty
Hillary needs to explain her connection to the
UN Slease.
The threat to freedom from the world governance agenda through the widely but naively perceived legitimacy of the UN will continue to worsen as long as the civilized world sustains it.
Move the UN to Darfur. They could use the economic benefit and the US won’t be perceived as killing it outright. How many Mo Strongs will go there after the good life in Manhattan. The self-canonized saints of Gaia don’t personally get that close to the soil or distant from their travel agents.
But…I’m, like, really confused here.
I thought we had carbon rationing? We got oil and trees. These go only to the highest bidder, and then we slap umpteen gazillion dollars of taxes, surcharges, royalties and fees on top.
They want us to add more costs?
OK.
And AFTER that, the bulldozers!
A Tea Party would be the perfect venue for welcoming the Frenchman’s global tax. Boston style.
Kate has quoted the words and thinking of a bunch of sadistic creeps. They are wannabe killers who hope to see us freeze to death – especially Canadians. I am, if not proud, at least satisfied about the Canadian stance at Bali; delay if you can’t obstruct, obstruct if you can’t block.
If $100/bbl oil, much of it from the Middle East, doesn’t lead to cutbacks in consumption it’s because most of the consumption is necessary.
I have a workable program for energy: first, route out the old environmentalists who impeded the development of nuclear power, and hang them from lampposts. Next, get hold of the younger “greens” and hang them from trees. They’ll appreciate that. Next, put all the money that’s going into windfarms etc. into nuclear power and the development of the hydrogen economy (that means lots of electrolysis units and fule cells to convert nuclear power to H2).
Butg the first step is to hang the “greens”. After all, they want *you* and *me* to freeze to death.
Pardon me for being emotional. But we are dealing with real evil here. Current temperature in St. John’s, -13 deg C.
Is environmentalism just the newest religion of the socialist? I ask because every quotation posted by Kate absolutely reeks of elitist socialism. The bold quote at the end is essentially a call to totalitarianism in the name of socialist environmentalism.
“When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it,” he says. “This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.”
Two words and they start with “F” “Y”. That’s what I think “when the chips are down!
Part of the problem is that there are lot more behind the “New World Order” that was first made public to most of us in the West by none other than George Bush Sr.
Why do you think Dubbya won’t close the US Mexican border? Why do you think immigration is running wild and unabated all over the Western world? The Bush’s are One Worlders too.
Never mind that the US and Canada are putting on a good show at Bali in their non-compliance with the will of the world’s elites. They are just jockying for position and the keep the sheep back home calm and with their wallets in tact for the time being.
There are many fish to fry in different quarters in the take over world societies. One is to flood them will cheap labor immigrants to do two things initially.
1. Introduce tons of cheap labor into the economies and destroy the higher paying jobs. This sets up the beginnings of the peasant society that the West had overcome in the past century to create the middle classes. Illegal Mexicans fill this bill nicely in the US. The hoardes of Muslims are doing it for Europe.
2. Use Multiculturalism as the wonderful device used in conjunction with politically correct tribunals to admonish the non compliant bigots who don’t like it in order to get rid of the shared values that make a nation strong. This is the old divided an conquer and it has always worked well.
And now, the cherry on the sundae is the climate change drama. This the instrument that Chirac states is the tool by which the ultimate fear and guilt may be applied to a disunited citizenry in order to impoverish and weaken the wealthy West and hand a pittance of the spoils to the poor and supportive nations. Why not be supportive? If you live a poor nation, you have nothing to lose in this equation … for the time being.
It has recently been made clear that humans are the big problem. Too many that is. There is plenty to go around in the future world of the elite rulers of planet earth, but not enough to support a middle class. In fact not enough to continue supporting a multi billions peasant class either.
Only a critial mass of humanity is required to keep the geniuses being born and the workers in balance to support the New World Order. Say between one and two billion. There will be population reduction in this century one way or another. The elites will see to that.
This will all come as as surprise to the Fat Albert’s fawning public and the vast sheep herd of UN supporters. Those very countries that produce nothing but starving humans with not enough protein to develop their brains will serve better as recreational preserves kept wild and with only the indigenous animal life to perhaps hunt if you are at the top the elite food chain in the New World Order. If we are lucky they will use attrition to rid the rest of the over stock of humans from earth. If that doesn’t go quickly enough, well there are other methods.
Yes, they want the earth to be green and clean, but not for the teeming masses presently inhabiting Earth today, but rather for themselves and those they deem worthy of the top shelf of human civilization.
The rest of us will be rated by usefulness and function, then allowed a place somewhere in the layer of toil and misery so long as we behave.
Yes folks, this where it’s going and there are lot more leaders in the world that know it and support it than you can imagine. They will all wait until their fish are fied and their ducks are in a row. It’s not just a few at he UN or on the board of Fat Albert’s carbon credit trading center. The Ruling Elites will be a very large number and their militia will be large too. It’s a big world to control.
In good time all governments will comply when see some status for themselves and their families in the New World Order. Who cares what kind of world you live in as long as you have your jelly donut in hand.
Sorry to take up so much space here, but we are at a turning point in human civilization and not enough of us are paying attention.
Death to the Infidel.
Death to the Carbonista.
Death to all.
Death death death!!!
… And there, ladies and gentlemen, we must take leave of these peeples who have taken leave of rationality.
“‘When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from the death of life, the end of life on it,’ he says. ‘This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.'”
Now try it this way:
“‘When the chips are down I think democracy is a less important goal than is the protection of the planet from Islamist extremism,’ President Bush says. ‘This has got to be imposed on people whether they like it or not.'”
Imagine the brouhaha over a statement like that.
This is an admission that extrajudicial procedures are perfectly acceptable to these people – as long as the cause is one they believe in. Very telling. A bit like the old Argentinian joke:
Q: Is it wrong to torture people?
A: Depends on who’s being tortured.
Hillman or Hitlerman or whoever he is, deserves to be ignored outright henceforth.
Can’t say much more about global warmening right now. Gotta plow out my drive…
I get to run the Gulag!:)
Maz2, good Lenin quotes!
I now understand the passion behind gun control.
John Lewis, no need to apologise. We have a right to express ourselves. And if any muslim or socialist organisation or two bit lawyer who can’t get a date, complains to the human rights star chambers, plead minority status.
Given that kyoto was based on fraud (human created CO2 is the cause of global warming ), it should be possible to sue any government that forces any bussiness to pay a carbon tax. Since it is the UN that will be trying to fine those who have not complied with their Kyoto commitments would it be possible to initiate a class action against the UN?
Mark Peters, yes, it is.
Maybe you weren’t around at the time, but in the 1980’s, the Soviet Union was imploding and the socialists had nowhere to go.
Then came along the chick-babe Brundlandt, former ex female sex godess of the Norwegian left, and prime minister, and UN wank poster-girl, and produced the Brundtland “report” (check spelling). This was a manual for adopting enviromentalism for socialist causes and world government under the UN. It marked the turning point.
Those who want us to go back to an ecological year zero are just Pol Pots in green.
Wimpy,
Right on the money.
JW
There was an extreme lefty environmentalist on the Roy Green Show today, although Roy was not hosting.
She stated that the Alberta tar sands is the worst example of environmental abuse in the whole world today.
She said that because of the enormous amounts of water being used there that MAJOR rivers are drying up.
Hmm…I hadn’t heard that!
She also stated that the toxins from the tar sand are causing cancer and other diseases.
Wow…I would have thought we would hear about that!
Then she said that the government must stop the major polluters in Canada.
But I guess that doesn’t apply to the major polluters in the world when talking on that level.
Its too bad Roy Green wasn’t there today, I’m sure he would have ripped the twit to shreds!
What the hell is wrong with those United Nations apparatchiks, it’s like the sucking sound you hear, it is the money that goes into the black hole, never to be seen ever, except of course by the well remunerated paper pushers of the UN. They just like to suck the money as fast as possible, from the people that get up every morning to go and make a living for themselves, not for the damn government and certainly not for the corrupt and damned United Nations.
It is high time that governments (?) should tell them to take a hike and don’t come back.
It is unfortunate that Suzuki got into this racket, the guy is truly smart, it just seems that even the smart get seduced be a useless cause.
As for Gore, if there were not so many enablers the guy would have to eat dirt.
Democracy is unknown concept in the offices of United Nations, they obviously have no use for it, simply because it would interfere with their control schemes.
Clair,
I heard the same show. I agree, Roy would have pounced.
Don’t worry about the tar sands shutting down. The Americans are the biggest buyers of that resource and the gas as well. They are not going to tolerate a stop of that supply no matter how loud the bleating gets.
The worst thing that it happening in Alberta right now is that shit head Stelmach’s proposed new royalty rip-off.
That is good for BC and Saskatchewan because it make the same type of industry more appealing in those places. The driller are moving into those areas as I type this.
Bottom line. We have those resources and we need them … the USA needs them. That need is growing.
And we all know that money talks and climate change walks. Hitch-hikes actually.
A “global carbon tax” is the leading edge pf global governing and the harbinger of doom to the sovereignty of the individual and the nation-state.
I cannot enunciate how dangerous this is to western culture and our liberal democratic systems….it is poison to national sovereigbty.
Any Canadian government that signs on to any form of an agreement to let an unelected regualtory bureaucracy tax its citizens is a TRAITOR!!
Civil backlash shoud reflect the seriousness of the sellout …Canadian governments have to make a choice…do they look out for Canadians who pay the tab as per their constitutional commission, or do they do the bidding of foreign bureaucratic entities and represent their will to Canadian…the latter is an act of treason.
Dangerous is an understatement.
If an entity is given the power to tax, they will also be given the power to enforce it and the autority to raise (draft) the enforcers of this new law.
I Imagine the ChiComs will be the first to “volunteer” a million or so troops to enforce this tax.
The UN was formed on the premise of a noble vision. But sadly it will suffer the same fate as the League of Nations.
Thinking here, if the United Nations low life prevails, we are heading for dark ages again.
The organism that is human existence must apparently go through low times to appreciate the high times. People in the western world had it so ‘good’ for some sixty years they forgot what ‘bad’ is. Perhaps we are heading towards the bad.
It is just so sad that those just growing up will have to go through tough times.
There is no doubt that after the bad, the following generation will learn from history and will soar to new heights. Today’s ‘elitists’ will be unable to totally destroy the natural desire of every person to be free.
now if we could just get iggy or borat dion to make a similar statement the ruse in Canaduh would be exposed.
hidden agenda. the hoi polloi cannot govern themselves , the great unwashed masses of humanity wallowing under the thumb of greatness. it aint just chirac, its the moe strong crew.
Wimpy — thanks so much for that info. I was “around” but I was young. My biggest concerns were how quickly I could get home from school and out on the ice or road to play hockey!
I’ll definitely dig into what you wrote. It could be a eureka moment. 🙂
Gimbol:
The power to tax is a feasom power…the power to tacx one of the building blocks of like (CO2) is akin to claiming a right to tax the use of sunlight…the propensity for abuse is limitless…. the British commonwealth system of governance is based on the power to tax being regulated by public accounting safeguard systems and a right of the tax-payers to vote the tax levyers in or out…. and as a last resort to throw them out by force.(Blackstone saw the threat of revolution to be primary to honest government)
Unelected, unaccountable, unscrutinized regulating Global bureaucracies are the closest thing to concenteated unelected unaccountable monopoly of power we have ever see since the dark ages.
Since the 40s the governing/ruling class of the ALL liberal democratic nations have been headed towards more and more omnipotent absolutist governing systems…to the loss of the freedoms and sovereignty of the individual…and his nation-state. The size of many so called democratic governments is not healthy or in line with the ideals of limited government we had when liberal democratic systems were created.
We are very near the time we have to draw a line for our governors ( and would-be dictators) and put this global unbridaled bureaucratic monopoly on power back in pandora’s box…by ballot box, jury box…… or ammo box.
I dunno what to think about this… democracy’s kinda important to me, fundamental to my political being… what with all the whacko stuff I’ve been exposed to on the internet these last few years… it’s hard to know what to think… what does it all mean??? Wait, wait, it’s kinda gelling, falling into place… it’s a declaration of war!
“If a man cannot stand for freedom ,he will probably turn Fascist.”
“This,in the fewest possible words, is the essenstial argument for this modern,(1941),classic,Escape from Freedom.”
This from the jacket cover of Erich Fromm’s book that I am rereading. He insisted that creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties. This is interesting in light the of way that some scientists that do have doubts about the Kyoto orthodoxy are labeled as denialists-as if the process of science is submission to the doubtless.
If Dion is ever elected as PM, would he sign any UN agreement that imposed a mandatory carbon tax on Canada. Yes he would, and then be shocked when our entire economy hit the skids. If we don’t pay taxes, there will be no money for his social programs or welfare pymts. No royalty money coming in, no gst (raised back to 7%) but he would proudly proclaim via ctv (cbc would be extinct as no money to fund it) during its allowabe 3 hrs/day to broadcast, we Canadians are leading the world. Question is, leading us to where.
I propose the next summit, supposedly in 2009, be held in Canada in February (maybe Whitehorse?), and that the only heat be generated by the natural effects of global warming, which will no doubt have warmed up the planet sufficiently by then. Oh, and, of course, the hot air generated by the chicken little brigade should add a few degrees.
Let’s see how many of them stand outside to protest then. In between sessions, they can play merrily amongst the few remaining polar bears. Maybe they’ll have some cute baby ones, like that Knut from Germany.
The activists are going to need to wear a little more clothing than penguin costumes (I still think the Chicken Little costumes are more appropriate). I doubt they’d be releasing many turtles into the ocean.
Maybe we can convince them to lick the frost from a few commemorative metal fence-posts to celebrate the signing of their agreement?
Anyone know who wrote this, way back in 1994. The world is just catching on now, to what he knew 13 years ago !!
[The Rise of Eco-Extremism (1994)
Two profound events triggered the split between those advocating a pragmatic or “liberal” approach to ecology and the new “zero-tolerance” attitude of the extremists. The first event, mentioned previously, was the widespread adoption of the environmental agenda by the mainstream of business and government. This left environmentalists with the choice of either being drawn into collaboration with their former “enemies” or of taking ever more extreme positions. Many environmentalists chose the latter route. They rejected the concept of “sustainable development” and took a strong “anti-development” stance.
Surprisingly enough the second event that caused the environmental movement to veer to the left was the fall of the Berlin Wall. Suddenly the international peace movement had a lot less to do. Pro-Soviet groups in the West were discredited. Many of their members moved into the environmental movement bringing with them their eco-Marxism and pro-Sandinista sentiments.]
