Y2Kyoto: State Of Anorexia Envirosa

Energy policy goes physics-free;

The Scottish supply is now based on nuclear, wind and imports with a little hydro and gas on the side. I think nuclear and wind is likely the worst combination for any grid that no sane power engineer would design. Variable and intermittent wind does not sit well with constant, base load nuclear power. We have reached this point in pursuit of Green dogma.
In this post I examine the policy and politics that led to this event and go on to consider the social and economic consequences of a nation-wide blackout that power engineers now believe is far more likely than before.

What could go wrong?

Afghanistan — A novel by Bill Greenwood (Kindle Edition)

A new Cold War has dawned. In London, a government bureaucrat has discovered what might be a Russian plot to destroy the West with a diabolical surprise attack that no one will see coming. Before anyone can act, they must first determine if the plot is real, and who is behind it.

It falls upon a British spy, struggling with tragedy, and his old friend from the SAS, himself worn down by his years of service to Queen and Country, to learn what they can of the plot and stop it if they can.

Misunderstanding

If Wall stays for this entire term, he eclipses past Saskatchewan premiers Allan Blakeney, Roy Romanow and Grant Devine to become the second-longest-serving premier, behind only Tommy Douglas.
I certainly can’t speak for Premier Wall and I’m certainly flush with the joy of victory, but in my opinion, there would be nothing, nothing better for a conservative Sask boy to do than matching Douglas’s record of election wins in Saskatchewan. Five majorities!
And this is how he’ll do it.

Election Day: Saskatchewan

It could turn out to be a nailbiter — for NDP leader Cam Broten who, it’s rumoured, is in danger of losing his seat. But stranger things have happened!

8:16pm Update: CTV declares a Saskparty majority government.
Twitter users can follow the #Skvotes tag, until the NDP rank and file come up with something more entertaining.

What will be the margin of SaskParty victory over Cam Broten’s NDP?

And it’s all over but the crying — down over 120 votes with only two polls remaining, it looks like Cam Broten has lost his seat. For those who choose not to gloat, I’ll be happy to make up the shortfall.

$19T? Phaw.

Trump will eliminate US debt in eight years.
It would take half of the budget every year ($2T), would require massive lay-offs in government, massive changes to entitlements and a complete shutdown of pretty much everything else.
That’s okay though, cause he’s going to “renegotiate trade deals and renegotiate military deals”…in his first 100 days….
