The Zimbabwe solution

In a nation as mired in economic chaos as South Africa is, exports that earn foreign currency are the only thing literally keeping the lights on to the extent that they are. But if the current government has its way, a huge portion of that earning potential will soon be blocked.

South African farms deemed “too white” will no longer be able to export their produce to the UK and the EU, according to postings in the Government Gazette, the Johannesburg-based City Press newspaper reported.

Under the rules, farmers must meet specific Black economic empowerment targets to continuing obtaining export permits.

Revolutionary violence

Lenin used to make a phony distinction between revolutionary violence and counter-revolutionary violence, the former being appropriate and the latter completely unacceptable. It’s not likely that we’ll ever see these revolutionaries arrested for anything, much less having their bank accounts frozen. The crown is far too busy prosecuting Tamara Lich anyway.

Senator Don Plett says he was stopped and harassed by “probably 30 or 40” protesters as he drove into a building for the meeting. They blocked traffic and insisted drivers take pamphlets, and targeted him as he attempted to drive around them.

“They actually jumped on to my car. They were banging on my windows, they were laying on the hood of my car and they were trying to prevent me from moving,…”

“And when they had asked PPS (Parliamentary Protective Service) over at the House why they weren’t being given any help the answer was, we don’t have enough staff. They seemed to have enough staff to stop all the hot tub parties and barbecues when we had some friendly protesters here and now they don’t have enough staff when many of us feel very unsafe.”

Leave your brain at home, please

The only thing staff at the office of the BC Provincial Health Officer will be doing is undoing and unlearning their capacity for critical thought if they take any of these admonitions seriously.

One snippet explicitly endorses a secular version of original sin that, naturally, applies only to white people:

Recognizes the truth that Indigenous-specific racism is perpetuated through white supremacist policies and practices that remain hardwired into our systems and processes, and that impede the health and wellness of Indigenous Peoples.

Get Out

Washington Post- Pakistan carries out a mass expulsion

Sarfraz Bugti, Pakistan’s caretaker interior minister, has framed the decision as one shaped by security imperatives, claiming that 14 out of 24 major terrorist attacks carried out this year within Pakistan have been by Afghan nationals. Pakistan is struggling to rein in the Pakistani Taliban outfits operating within the country; these factions have loose connections to the Taliban government next door in Afghanistan, which has denounced Pakistan’s planned expulsion of its nationals.

More than 50 years of chaos and strife in Afghanistan have sent waves of refugees to neighboring Pakistan and Iran. The latest flow came after the Taliban’s 2021 takeover in Kabul, but many Afghans have resided in Pakistan since the days of the Soviet invasion.

Highway robbery

Maybe now that the national Transport minister has become a victim of armed robbery, the ANC will try to do something about South Africa’s appalling crime situation. But I’m not holding my breath.

Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga has told of how a pre-dawn ambush on Monday – in which she and her bodyguards were robbed after stopping on the N3 near Heidelberg – had left her terrified that she would be shot at any moment.

Police confirmed that Chikunga and her protectors had stopped to change a tyre, punctured after objects were seemingly placed on the road.

Apartheid for drunks

What’s the protocol for these racially exclusive sobering up centers? Is someone from the Race Classification Board going to be sitting at the door making sure that only true Aboriginals are admitted? And using what criteria?

A six-bed sobering-up centre, along with a mobile soup van exclusively for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will open next week in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda.
