Military Grade Propaganda

This is excellent! Its about much more than the current conflict. If you’ve ever wondered why covid was always talked about like a world war this essay explains the reason and the result. Grab a coffee.

Glenn Greenwald- War Propaganda About Ukraine Becoming More Militaristic, Authoritarian, and Reckless

Every useful or pleasing claim about the war, no matter how unverified or subsequently debunked, rapidly spreads, while dissenters are vilified as traitors or Kremlin agents.

There is no propaganda as potent or powerful as war propaganda. It seems that one must have lived through it at least once, as an engaged adult, to understand how it functions, how it manipulates and distorts, and how one can resist being consumed by it.

As I examined in the first part of that video discussion, war propaganda stimulates the most powerful aspects of our psyche, our subconscious, our instinctive drives. It causes us, by design, to abandon reason. It provokes a surge in tribalism, jingoism, moral righteousness and emotionalism: all powerful drives embedded through millennia of evolution. The more unity that emerges in support of an overarching moral narrative, the more difficult it becomes for anyone to critically evaluate it. The more closed the propaganda system is — either because any dissent from it is excluded by brute censorship or so effectively demonized through accusations of treason and disloyalty — the more difficult it is for anyone, all of us, even to recognize one is in the middle of it.

Russian Road Trip

Aris Rousinos over at UnHerd had a good essay at the end of January on what we’re seeing unfold today in the Ukraine.

UnHerd- Putin’s next move, a shock and awe campaign could overwhelm Ukraine

And in case you missed it earlier this morning O.J. had a good piece from Victor Davis Hansen as well.

Putin’s Predictabilities- It is easy to predict what the Russian president will do in any given situation. Biden is making it easier for Putin to act with aggression.

Today On Turtle Island

Blacklock reports that the Canadian Armed Forces will be offering gender neutral uniforms. The new “Woke” members of the military will have a variety of uniforms to choose from. Non binary members can identify any way they wish.  I personally don’t remember ever getting a choice in the matter. And federal researchers believe homeowners are lazy TV watchers, so residential homes in Canada should be taxed.

Why are the opposition parties silent about Trudeau’s hatred for the unvaccinated?

Meanwhile across the pond, this is my brother Muhammad and my other brother Muhammad. Former British peer is convicted of attempted rape.

And diversity in France.

Don’t Count on It

Matt Gurney: Only dead Canadians will shock us out of our appalling complacency

We don’t even fund our search-and-rescue units properly. That’s the least controversial thing the military does.

The disaster in B.C. right now provides a fascinating example of this very problem. After landslides wiped out sections of highway, stranding hundreds of motorists and cutting off isolated communities from food and medicine, the RCAF’s 442 Squadron, based in Comox, B.C., sprang into action. You’ve probably seen footage of bright yellow helicopters rescuing civilians — those are the 442’s Cormorant helicopters. Canada, the world’s second-largest landmass, has … 14 of those. (A 15th crashed a few years ago.) This works out to about one Cormorant for every 714,000 square kilometres of land area.

A Few Good Men

ABC News;

With the Taliban growing more violent and adding checkpoints near Kabul’s airport, an all-volunteer group of American veterans of the Afghan war launched a final daring mission on Wednesday night dubbed the “Pineapple Express” to shepherd hundreds of at-risk Afghan elite forces and their families to safety, members of the group told ABC News.

Moving after nightfall in near-pitch black darkness and extremely dangerous conditions, the group said it worked unofficially in tandem with the United States military and U.S. embassy to move people, sometimes one person at a time, or in pairs, but rarely more than a small bunch, inside the wire of the U.S. military-controlled side of Hamid Karzai International Airport.

The Pineapple Express’ mission was underway Thursday when the attack occurred in Kabul. A suicide bomber believed to have been an ISIS fighter killed at least 13 U.S. service members — 10 U.S. Marines, a Navy corpsman, an Army soldier and another service member — and wounded 15 other service members, according to U.S. officials.

There were wounded among the Pineapple Express travelers from the blast, and members of the group said they were assessing whether unaccounted-for Afghans they were helping had been killed.

As of Thursday morning, the group said it had brought as many as 500 Afghan special operators, assets and enablers and their families into the airport in Kabul overnight, handing them each over to the protective custody of the U.S. military.

The Decline And Fall Of The American Empire

The latest: 52 bombers head to Afghanistan.. to bomb their own planes.

Bumped for update: US Embassy will be completely evacuated within 72 hours and staff are already being rushed to Kabul airport as Taliban warlords close in: First of 3,000 Marines arrive and refugee crisis begins.

Bad news for a Biden White House making plans to pull their staff from the roof of the American Embassy — the Taliban are in the air.

Related: The Taliban are now in possession of more Blackhawk helicopters than 166 other nations around the globe.

It was always impossible to destroy the Taliban, or so we shall be told by all the sombre grey generals of CNN. Just as it was impossible to destroy ISIS.
