Mark Steyn- War in Europe: Day Twelve
Well, the fifteen days to flatten the Tsar is turning out as usual: “Ensuring Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine fails could take “months, if not years“, the [UK] deputy prime minister has told Sky News.” Oh, well. Tough for the Ukrainians and the Russkies, but I’m nowhere near, right? Wrong:

No-one can tell what is going to happen.

An opinion on what is going on.
No wonder we haven’t heard from Colonialidiot lately. Just linking to this outstanding article would have made his head explode.
Lately? I suppose a half a day absence from posting seems like a long time for someone with an attention san of a retarded amoeba. Anyway, your attention span not withstanding, who is that “we” you’re talking about? All your other personalities Angel/ray/Ahmed/defaul/Doug/many-other-names?
As for the article, it is another carbon copy of what you want to hear aka lazy Kremlin propaganda. Yawn.

Stop wasting bandwidth with this crap.
Well worth watching Glenn Beck’s take.
Something regarding Russia’s invasion into Ukraine — and the way the West responded to it — hasn’t made sense to Glenn since the chaos all began. But in this clip, Glenn starts to piece together the puzzle pieces. It’s the first time the Western world has formed such a powerful ‘coalition’ — including multiple public/private partnerships between banks, big corporations, and world governments — in response to foreign disputes. But the way world leaders banded together demonstrates what may be coming for us all: The Great Reset. And now, proponents of the World Economic Forum’s masterplan have a crisis on their hands they likely will NOT let go to waste…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlBXTeeM7l0&t=178s
In order for the great reset to work they will need to collapse the US dollar. The best way to do that is to force a group of large countries (say China, India and Russia) to adopt their own trading currency, which could be based on a basket of currencies. This group would take a high number of smaller countries with it. This would weaken the USD which is very strong right now. Then the reset could proceed. Those resetting the world would of course be the ones establishing the new currency (or basket).
The big question is: will they play the global nuclear war card? I don’t think Putin wants to. But does the Globohomo WEF Davos Uniparty want to? The answer is a big YES. Just think of all their stated objectives that would be achieved.
What Putin wants is one thing. With respect to Russia it’s really up to the military to carry it out. And right now they are likely not too happy with how Putin has bungled things.
As for the WEF, who cares what that gang of fanboys wants? They don’t actually amount to much of anything except for being a mutual admiration society.
Amoil
I could agree more.
Full “court press”
Speaking of the public/private partnership … something about this gasoline spike has me troubled. As both a starting motorist and HS pump jockey in 1973/74 … I experienced gas price spikes (prices quadrupled), gas SHORTAGES, and long gasoline lines at my service station. I had to tell the schlub who had waited an HOUR in line that he wouldn’t be getting ANY gas as we were OUT of gasoline now. There was a gasoline CRISIS … a supply crisis.
Fast forward 49 years to 2022 … and the gas price spikes are nosebleed epic! But funny thing … there are NO gas lines (except at deep discounter, COSTCO stations). Where’s the shortage driving the price spike? Where are the gas lines and the fistfights breaking out over line jumpers? Show me the capitalist free marketplace of supply and demand driving prices both up and down? Where are the gas lines, and gas shortages?
Or is this runaway inflation something entirely different? … Hmmmmm ? I have always accused BIG OIL of price collusion, price fixing. Literally charging what the Market will bear, not what the supply dictates. And no … I’m not a Biden-Socialist. I am not (up until now) anti-Corporation. It’s bad-enough I’ve watched BIG Corporations go so woke that even the Oil Companies have bought into the Global Warming charade. But have they also bought into the WEF’s Great Reset? Have they all been promised a seat at the great white benevolent Dictatorship? Are we all being played … and there’s NOTHING we can do about it? There seems to be a thinly veiled smile behind all of this Administrations dour faces … except Kamellalala’ face which is always in some odd state of giggly.
“Have they all been promised a seat at the great white benevolent Dictatorship?”
Of course they have – that’s the very definition of the wondrous “Stakeholder Capitalism” that’s coming our way.
And we’re seeing that “Stakeholder Capitalism” at work in spades – the heavy lifting being done in the war with Russia is being done by corporates, not governments or alliances. The corporations are literally fighting this war.
“Ensuring Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine fails could take “months, if not years“,
That was NATO’s plan from the beginning, Hillary Clinton said it straight up {“to bleed Russia dry in another Afghanistan”} – The US Democrat Mafia machine has been working towards this goal since Obama was in office. It doesn’t mean they will succeed, but it does prove that they have been working towards this war and the subsequent destruction in Ukraine for a very long time.
Excuse the Mad Cow MSNBC interview, think of it as intelligence gathering from your enemy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9BGOE_eVQc
Mad Cow AND Hillary? Sorry, no.
BTW, no one did more to enable Russian aggression than Hillary.US Democrats are bleeding the US dry with culture wars more than anything they’ve attempted offshore.
Interesting that Bill and Hillary are suddenly very visible and getting the old (criminal) gang back together. I think that means Ukraine needs a cellular network.
Whenever Bill and Hillary emerge from their bunker, its because of gunfire or explosions.
It’s because there is disaster relief money to be grifted, and that is the Clinton’s sole area of ‘”expertise”. As Steve Bannon said, ‘”the Clintons are getting the band together so they can steal with both hands”.
“…no one did more to enable Russian aggression than Hillary.”
Bingo!
“to bleed Russia dry in another Afghanistan”
That’s actually always a good idea. But that’s not what Ogabe’s reset was all about.
Do wishes of Ukrainians to be free of the Siberian Mongol cancer count in any of your calculations?
To be fair, it’s clear that Putin miscalculated too. He’s not omnipotent or omniscient either.
Putin, like most of us, clearly expected that the only organized resistance Russian forces would meet is a few Nazi gangs, and that Zelensky would be driven from Kiev in a couple of days.
Nobody expected that Zelensky would have acquired a Messiah complex so quickly, or that the globalists would allow him to make Lesser Russia a pretext for World War Three.
The Russian forces will prevail. But it was the job of Putin’s intelligence agents to assess such risks in advance. If there have not already been consequences, there will be when this is over.
Well, here is the leader of those “few Nazi gangs” speaking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lA51UCDLBo&t=2s
Propaganda, obviously, but very good propaganda (almost “Churchillian” some would say.)
Which, it seems to me, is working.
Russia will not win very easily (if they indeed will win).
Isn’t it interesting that everyone from Trudeau, Freeland, Clinton, Schwab, Soros, to the government/media complex are all 100% in agreement with everything you state here? Could it be that you are just regurgitating THEIR propaganda? Oh no, you’re just sooooo independent minded. Question for us to consider here is: are you one of their dancing toads or an innocent sheep?
It’s good to have a reasonable understanding of history.
It’s useful to understand that everything from politicians, media, or corporations is slanted in some way (aka propaganda).
With these two things in place, one can make somewhat educated guesses about what may have happened, and what may happen.
Always yelling about some world-wide conspiracy intending to control the work does not make it true. (Possible, of course, but then show me.)
Dancing toad it is.
I agree with you, JK. There’s lots of evidence right now that Putin’s invasion is misfiring badly on all cylinders. The Russian army appears to be completely inept at basic logistics, just as they were in Afghanistan or in Chechnya. They are littering the battlefield with abandoned tanks, either in need of repair or out of fuel. And thus far they are suffering significant air casualties and have failed to secure air control.
As for Dougie, you can dismiss him as an idiot.
@JIK – “the leader of those “few Nazi gangs”
I’m old enough to remember Trudeau slamming the whole Conservative party about “not standing with Nazi’s” when the CBC reported a single WW2 Nazi flag carried three blocks away from the parliament.
But this…..

Failing intelligence agents aren’t going to escape Lubyanka on bail. Moscow ain’t Los Angeles.
I mention Adolph H. only in the context of how EVERYONE was terrified of being the one to give him bad news; same for Stalin. What is it with despots and their obsession with killing the messengers?
Putin is a despot? So he has dissolved the power of the Duma, crushed all military dissent, and crowned himself Czar? I must have missed that.
See, I don’t think he’s any more a despot than Krushchev was. Or Trudeau is, for that matter. Strong-willed, ruthless in pursuit of Russian statehood and security? Sure. Russia ain’t Sweden, and when you have Chechnya in your Federation, you ain’t ever gonna be.
I think pinning all this on Putin is going to sorely disappoint you once his successor steps up in the not-too-distant future. When that day comes, you will remember Putin with fondness. His successor is going to eff your sh+t up real good.
Putin seems to have run into the classic Dictator’s trap.
When telling you that you are wrong is dangerous, you deny yourself the advice and intelligence you need to make good decisions.
When you habitually lie (Russian military doctrine includes lying as a standard information-control tactic) you assume that no other source of information is reliable, so you believe what you want.
I can’t believe the western intelligence agencies allowed themselves to be duped again, the Russian Army? One US Marine division could wipe the floor with them, and have plenty left over to f*ck all the women.
“Price shocks will have an impact worldwide, especially on poor households for whom food and fuel are a higher proportion of expenses,” the IMF said in a statement.
What you don’t hear anything about YET will be the mass starvation across the Third World, it will be news in due time. Once the Northern Hemisphere farm belt gets choked (E. Europe & NA) many millions will starve to death, then war & famine anywhere south of the first world.
What is Putin’s exit strategy and how does he define victory? I suspect the shithead has no clue. He started a war he can’t win. If per chance he does have victory on the battlefield he has destroyed Russian credibility gained in the past 30 years. You can guarantee that sanctions will remain in place until Russia gives up its pre 2022 victories in Crimea and Donbass.
Because a president willing to negotiate Armageddon with the World’s greatest state sponsor of terror will be unrelenting in its persecution of Russia, eh?
Scar, his exit strategy? He doesn’t have one. Remember he’s a KGB former officer. He thinks in terms of special operations for the very short term. It’s really no different than the original American invasion of Afghanistan in 2001; a quick operation to overthrow the government and declare victory. Well, that plan’s already been torpedoed because of ferocious and effective Ukrainian resistance. The problem for Uncle Vlad is there is no Plan B, no more than the Americans had a Plan B for Afghanistan.
Sanctions? Quite right. The sanctions in place now guarantee that there won’t be another Russian Aeroflot plane flying within about six months. And the boycott by Visa and Mastercard and a host of other financial services are going to hurt Russia; a lot.
Because no one remembers how to live without a credit card … riiigghhtt …
Areoflot aircraft will be quickly Jerry-rigged. And they will do fine. Though I hear Boeings and Airbuses never, ever, ever, ever, ever crash due to poor maintenance.
MF, wrong on all counts. Aeroflot’s main maintenance base is in Germany. Sanctions kill that. Half of Aeroflot’s aircraft are leases (they are for most airlines). So all those aircraft are recalled back to Ireland now. Of Aeroflot’s domestic built aircraft, all of them use critical parts made in France, Britain, Germany and the United States. So when they fail, the aircraft is grounded. You cannot jury-rig repairs on any modern passenger jet from any manufacturer.
As for Visa, what part of “and a host of other financial services” did you not understand?
Forgotten fact. Bernard Lavalin and his brain trusts in Lavalin Engineering were going to make a fortune leasing Boeing 737’s to Russia. Then Russia invaded Afghanistan, sanctions were applied, and Russia backed out of the deal. Lavalin was in the process of filing for bankruptcy when the Quebec government brokered a deal with SNC along with scads of government money yo bail Lavalin out. Lavalin was the largest engineering firm in Canada at the time, and SNC was the second largest.
History repeats, or rhymes.
Nini:
When the SNC-Lavalin amalgamation took place, I was working for a firm that was a subcontractor for an outfit in the Montreal area. My opposite number at that place told me that Lavalin was in hock over its ears because it got involved in things it had no business being in, such as oil refining.
cgh
Again you bark with no way of knowing any of the facts. We don’t know what the situation on the ground really is. As there is NOT one reliable source out there. I find that the so called conservative news outlets are bought and paid for. Fox and newsmax both took gov’t $$$$ to push the covid crap. So tell me good sir, were the fuck are you getting your info from?
His goal is to partition Ukraine at the Dnieper river, and maybe give Lviv to Poland improve their mood.

Kayleigh… name sounds familiar… I know… I have met you when you were offering tricks behind the truck stop… you’re Dougie’s mom
“….and maybe give Lviv to Poland improve their mood.”
Yes, because a civil war in occupied territory that is 1% Polish is what ethnically homogenous (now) Poland really needs and wants.
Putins great heroes are Stalin and Czar Peter the Great.
He is on record as stating that the disintegration of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical tragedy in history.
His ambition appears to be the re-creation of the Russian empire in some form, starting with the absorption of former Soviet satellite states. The only question is whether they will be made part of a Greater Russia, or exist with mapped boundaries but permitted only compliant administrations under a Stalinist model.
If you wonder why the Ukrainians are fighting so hard, look up the Holodmor…
3.5 MILLION Ukrainians starved as a result of Russian policy.
6 million
“Putins great heroes are Stalin and Czar Peter the Great.”
They’re also greatest heroes of average on the street russians. Mongols will Mongol and worship their tyrants.
Winnipeg Free Press editorial yesterday opined that higher gas prices are a “minor inconvenience” that are justified in order to avoid direct military intervention in the Ukraine. How they came to the conclusion that higher fuel prices will force Putin to withdraw is beyond me. My guess is that even if Russian forces don’t make any further progress, neither will they be leaving anytime soon. So we can look forward to higher fuel and commodity prices until such time as debt defaults start to wipe out profitable companies in North America and Europe. Depositors will have a hard time buying the argument that the failure of their bank is a minor inconvenience.
Higher fuel prices simply increase the funding the West provides to support the Russian war machine.
My mates in Moscow are showing the price of petrol there. Wow.
Let’s just say, when you have so much cheap fuel in your country, that is a big stimulus all its own.
Russia will control energy prices domestically. They are rolling in food. They are accustomed to frequent belt-tightening.The two things we are about to spend a massive chunk of salaries on in the West: food and fuel.
Who is really in the pound seat now?
The West has more food and fuel than it needs. There will be no “pounding sand” if we respond with the political will to use what we have with wisdom.
The US has far more coal than Russia. Australia has the same as Russia.
Canada has more proven oil reserves.
Australia has more reserves of Uranium than the next two countries combined.
That may be, but the Turd will only respond to his WEF masters, and between him and Guibault, there isn’t a chance they’ll use any of it, the climate and all that. It will get used when the truckers return with more than signs, and the citizens have had a bellyfull, and hold the bastards while we pound them. The administrative state will be in the crosshairs, and, well, good riddance.

F. Joe Biden just stumbled his way through a short announcement he is banning Russian Oil.
He took no questions from the assembled press, then turned his back and shuffled away. No, Zero Questions from the White House Press Corpse. Will any one of those paid propagandists complain?
rd
And FJB is KNEEgotianing with Venezuela for more oil, and Venezuela is a Russian trading partner. They, the WH Jews must think we are all stupid, OH, wait did I just say Jews. Yes we, I mean you people are that stupid.

Putin’s invasion of Russia is surely keeping teleprompter Joe Biden up at night.
Gee, could have had Keystone XL, for far less trouble.
Apparently Foreign Terrorist Oil doesn’t produce CO2 of any concern…….Is that SCIENCE?™️
Dan, truth and facts no longer have any meaning anywhere on the planet.
And now China, playing Russia like a fiddle.

Even though you’re getting a 30% discount on the world’s most important commodity it is important to ponder.
What will the free, democratic nations of this crazy world learn from this action by a creep called Putin ?
What will be done to ensure it ends fast with lessons learned that ensure it never happens again?
We’ve been sitting by as spectators while rogue nations do their thing then wonder why mad tyrants decide to wage war on a peaceful nation?
It may be always in Europe but it has world wide ramifications.
We need to curb business with China…yesterday!

When everyone is wrong, one of us must be right.
The Dear Leader’s experience as a part-time drama teacher has landed him a role in a “theatrical rebuke” of Russia, which is now playing in Latvia. This story is not from the Babylon Bee; it is from CTV News so it has to be true:
“Justin Trudeau joined NATO allies Tuesday in staging a theatrical rebuke of Russia’s war on Ukraine from a heavily armoured war-games field and in a floodlit news conference from one of the alliance’s eastern European bases.”
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/trudeau-nato-partners-stage-theatrical-rebuke-of-russia-at-military-base-in-latvia-1.5810140
I’ll give Zelensky this: he actually is a halfway decent actor when he cares to be.
Justin is just making a minstrel show of himself.
Justin is just making a minstrel show of himself.
He’s in blackface–again?
Would it be too much to wish for that they give Alec Baldwin a role in the Turd’s play? Asking for a lot of Canadians.
This Tucker Carlson video should be required viewing for anyone salivating for war against Russia. You stooges know who you are. I dare you to watch it in its entirety. Or do you feel much more comfortable dancing to Globohomo’s war drums? Remember, you agreed 100% with Carlson before February 22 and hated Globohomo. What happened to make you flip?
https://youtu.be/1PC7DzTRS7A
A five-star commentary about America, Ukraine and Russia. Tucker continues to speak the truth even though virtually every Republican in Congress now hates him for strongly opposing war with Russia.
At the end of Tucker’s video, he includes a short segment of MMA-fighter Bryce Mitchell speaking against the U.S. going to war with Russia. I would say Bryce views government the same way the Freedom Truckers do. This is Bryce speaking his mind:

Why do the nations so furiously rage together?
Maybe because as long as evil men think that violence will get them what they want, they will use violence….
Putin admires men like that.
